Carbon storage of the forest and its spatial pattern in Tibet,China

The raising concentration of atmospheric CO_2 resulted in global warming.The forest ecosystem in Tibet played an irreplaceable role in maintaining global carbon balance and mitigating climate change for its abundant original forest resources with powerful action of carbon sink.In the present study,the samples of soil and vegetation were collected at a total of 137 sites from 2001 to 2018 in Tibet.Based on the field survey of Tibet's forest resources and 8^(th) forest inventory data,we estimated the carbon storage and carbon density of forest vegetation(tree layer,shrub,grass,litter and dead wood) and soil(0-50 cm) in Tibet.Geostatistical methods combined with Kriging spatial interpolation and Moran's I were applied to reveal their spatial distribution patterns and variation characteristics.The carbon density of forest vegetation and soil in Tibet were 74.57 t ha^(-1) and 96.24 t ha^(-1),respectively.The carbon storage of forest vegetation and soil in Tibet were 344.35 Tg C and 440.53 Tg C,respectively.Carbon density of fir(Abies forest) was 144.80 t ha^(-1) with the highest value among all the forest types.Carbon storage of spruce(Picea forest) was the highest with 99.09 Tg C compared with other forest types.The carbon density of fir forest and spruce forest both increased with the rising temperature and precipitation.Temperature was the main influential factor.The spatial distribution of carbon density of forest vegetation,soil,and ecosystem in Tibet generally showed declining trends from western Tibet to eastern Tibet.Our results facilitated the understanding of the carbon sequestration role of forest ecosystem in the Tibet.It also implied that as the carbon storage potential of Tibet's forests are expected to increase,these forests are likely to serve as huge carbon sinks in the current era of global warming and climate change.

目的研究坤泰胶囊治疗萎缩性阴道炎的临床效果,为萎缩性阴道炎的治疗和预防复发提供方案。方法选取2020年3月-2021年10月天津市武清区人民医院妇科门诊首次诊断为萎缩性阴道炎的患者200例,按照随机双盲法,分为对照组和观察组各100例。对照组给予普罗雌烯阴道胶丸(1次/d,1粒/次,连续用药20d)和甲硝唑栓(1次/d,1粒/次,连续用药10d);观察组在对照组基础上给予坤泰胶囊(3次/d,4粒/次)口服,疗程84d。用药6周后比较两组治疗有效率;用药12周后对两组患者进行随访,比较两组的复发率及不良反应发生率。结果用药6周后,观察组治疗总有效率为93.00%,高于对照组的80.00%,差异有统计学意义(χ^(2)=9.070,P0.05)。结论坤泰胶囊治疗萎缩性阴道炎的临床效果明显,可有效预防和延缓萎缩性阴道炎的复发,明显改善患者临床症状并且不增加不良反应发生率。

Two-Staged Method for Ice Channel Identification Based on Image Segmentation and Corner Point Regression

Identification of the ice channel is the basic technology for developing intelligent ships in ice-covered waters,which is important to ensure the safety and economy of navigation.In the Arctic,merchant ships with low ice class often navigate in channels opened up by icebreakers.Navigation in the ice channel often depends on good maneuverability skills and abundant experience from the captain to a large extent.The ship may get stuck if steered into ice fields off the channel.Under this circumstance,it is very important to study how to identify the boundary lines of ice channels with a reliable method.In this paper,a two-staged ice channel identification method is developed based on image segmentation and corner point regression.The first stage employs the image segmentation method to extract channel regions.In the second stage,an intelligent corner regression network is proposed to extract the channel boundary lines from the channel region.A non-intelligent angle-based filtering and clustering method is proposed and compared with corner point regression network.The training and evaluation of the segmentation method and corner regression network are carried out on the synthetic and real ice channel dataset.The evaluation results show that the accuracy of the method using the corner point regression network in the second stage is achieved as high as 73.33%on the synthetic ice channel dataset and 70.66%on the real ice channel dataset,and the processing speed can reach up to 14.58frames per second.

Chronic infectious unilateral giant thyroid cyst related to diabetes mellitus:A case report

BACKGROUND Patients rarely develop complicated infections in thyroid cysts.Here,we describe a patient with chronic infected unilateral giant thyroid cyst related to diabetes mellitus(DM).CASE SUMMARY A 66-year-old male was admitted due to an evident neck lump for 5 d after approximately 40 years of gradually progressive neck mass and 7 years of DM.Doppler ultrasound and computed tomography scan showed a giant lump in the left thyroid gland lobe.He was diagnosed with a large thyroid nodule complicated by tracheal dislocation and had surgical indications.Surgical exploration revealed evident inflammatory edema and exudation between the left anterior neck muscles,the nodule and glandular tissue.Fortunately,inflammatory lesions did not affect major neck vessels.Finally,a left partial thyroidectomy was performed.Macroscopic observation showed that the cystic thyroid mass consisted of extensive cystic wall calcification and was rich in massive rough sand-like calculi content and purulent matter.Postoperative pathology confirmed benign thyroid cyst with chronic infection.CONCLUSION The progression of this chronic infectious unilateral giant thyroid cyst may have been related to DM,and identifying blood vessels involvement can prevent serious complications during operation.

Black hole evaporation and its remnants with the generalized uncertainty principle including a linear term

In recent years,researchers have investigated the evaporation of Schwarzschild black holes using various forms of the generalized uncertainty principle(GUP),metric quantum correction,and noncommutative geometry,respectively.However,there are differences between the GUP correction and the other two methods in terms of describing the later stages of black hole evaporation.Furthermore,some studies argue that the GUP with a negative parameter cannot effectively correct black hole evaporation,while others contend that the positivity or negativity of the GUP parameters should not affect the correction results.Taking the above into consideration,we reconsider black hole evaporation with the generalized uncertainty principle including a linear term(LGUP),and examine the case of negative parameters.The results indicate that the evaporation behavior of both Schwarzschild black holes and Reissner–Nordstr?m black holes,under LGUP correction,is consistent with the results of metric quantum correction and non-commutative geometry.Additionally,the negative parameter LGUP can also effectively correct for black hole evaporation.

Lithospheric strength of the Anatolian plateau and implications for strong earthquake activity in Turkey

On February 6, 2023, the doublet earthquake including two main shocks with magnitudes M_(W)7.8 and M_(W)7.5, occurred near the western side of the East Anatolian Fault at the southeast boundary of the Anatolian Plateau in Turkey. Based on the WGM2012 bouguer gravity anomaly data and the Etopo1topography data, this study first introduced a joint inversion of admittance and coherence functions and used the Bayesian optimal parameter estimation method to obtain the effective elastic thickness Teand loading ratio F of the lithosphere for various tectonic units in the Anatolian Plateau. Secondly, we discussed the characteristics and influencing factors of the lithospheric mechanical strength and analyzed its relationship with seismic activity. The lithospheric mechanical strength of the Anatolian Plateau showed clear lateral heterogeneity and a "weak-strong-weak" spatial pattern from east to west,reflecting various tectonic processes. At last, the strong seismic activity was found where the lithospheric strength was low in the Anatolian Plate. We also incorporated GPS strain rate and other results to investigate the tectonic background and primary causes of the M_(W)7.8 and M_(W)7.5 doublet earthquakes in Turkey. The results have a good insight into urban safety design in the Turkish region, including postdisaster rehabilitation, earthquake hazard assessment, and loss reduction.

Colorectal cancer(CRC)is one of the most common cancers around the world,and it is one of the leading causes of cancer-related death.1 Although anti-EGFR therapy and immune checkpoint inhibitor(ICl)therapy are becoming more and more important for colorectal therapy,however,clinical outcomes of current treatments for metastatic CRC,especially with ICls,have been shown to be affected by the status of KRAS.Therefore,KRAS mutation status detection has become a very important diagnostic factor for managing metastatic CRC patients.

Significant epidemiological research has revealed that exposure to air pollution is substantially associated with numerous detrimental health consequences^([1-3]).The negative health effects of individual air pollutants(e.g.,fine particulate matter:PM_(2.5);nitrogen dioxide:NO_(2);carbon monoxide,CO;or ozone:O_(3))have been widely explored^([4]).However,humans are constantly exposed to multipollutant mixtures in real life,and biological responses to inhaled pollutants are likely to depend on the interplay of pollutant mixtures.Therefore,it is critical and imperative to explore the joint effects of multipollutant mixtures on human beings.

●AIM:To introduce the macular hole(MH)hydromassage technique as a potentially beneficial approach for the treatment of large or persistent MH.●METHODS:This retrospective observational case series comprised 16 consecutive patients(17 eyes)diagnosed with MH.Inclusion criteria involved a hole aperture diameter larger than 600μm or the presence of an unclosed MH larger than 600μm following the previous vitrectomy.Standard MH repair procedures were administered in all cases,involving the manipulation and aspiration of the hole margin through the application of water flow with a soft-tip flute needle.A comprehensive assessment was conducted for each case before and after surgery,and optical coherence tomography(OCT)images were captured at every follow-up point.●RESULTS:The mean preoperative aperture diameter was 747±156μm(range 611-1180μm),with a mean base diameter of 1390±435μm(range 578-2220μm).Following surgery,all cases achieved complete anatomical closure of MH,with 13 cases(76.5%)exhibiting type 1 closure and 4 cases(23.5%)demonstrating type 2 closure.No significant differences were observed in the preoperative OCT variables between the two closure types.Eyes with type 1 closure showed a significantly improved visual acuity(0.70±0.10,range 0.50-0.80)compared to those with type 2 closure(0.90±0.12,range 0.80-1.00,P=0.014).●CONCLUSION:The MH hydromassage technique demonstrates promising results,achieving acceptable closure rates in cases of large or persistent MH.This technique may serve as an effective adjunctive maneuver during challenging MH surgery.

A Rendezvous Mission to the Second Earth Trojan Asteroid 2020 XL_5 with Low-Thrust Multi-Gravity Assist Techniques

As the second of Earth's Trojan asteroids, 2020 XL_(5) is worthy of rendezvous and even sample return missions in many aspects. In this paper, a rendezvous mission to Earth's second Trojan asteroid 2020 XL_(5) is proposed.However, due to its high inclination and large eccentricity, direct impulsive transfer requires large amounts of fuel consumption. To address this challenge, we explore the benefits of electric propulsion and multi-gravity assist techniques for interplanetary missions. These two techniques are integrated in this mission design. The design of a low-thrust gravity-assist(LTGA) trajectory in multi-body dynamics is thoroughly investigated,which is a complex process. A comprehensive framework including three steps is presented here for optimization of LTGA trajectories in multi-body dynamics. The rendezvous mission to 2020 XL_(5) is designed with this three-step approach. The most effective transfer sequence among the outcomes involves Earth–Venus–Earth–Venus-2020 XL_(5). Numerical results indicate that the combination of electric propulsion and multi-gravity assists can greatly reduce the fuel consumption, with fuel consumption of 9.03%, making it a highly favorable choice for this rendezvous mission.
