To study the stratified stability of a water column in the North Passage of the Yangtze River Estuary,a numerical model of the hydrodynamics of this estuary is established using the EFDC *** the basis of EFDC results,this paper derives and pro-vides the discriminative index of water body stability caused by salinity and analyzes the along-range variation in water body strati-fication stability in the North Passage of the Yangtze River Estuary and the periodic variation at a key location(bend area)based on the simulation results of the numerical *** work shows that the water body in the bend area varies between mixed and strati-fied types,and the vertical average flow velocity has a good negative correlation with the differential velocity between the surface and bottom layers of the water *** model simulation results validate the formulae for the stratified stability discriminant during spring tides.

Factorization machine (FM) is an effective model for feature-based recommendation that utilizes inner products to capture second-order feature interactions. However, one of the major drawbacks of FM is that it cannot capture complex high-order interaction signals. A common solution is to change the interaction function, such as stacking deep neural networks on the top level of FM. In this work, we propose an alternative approach to model high-order interaction signals at the embedding level, namely generalized embedding machine (GEM). The embedding used in GEM encodes not only the information from the feature itself but also the information from other correlated features. Under such a situation, the embedding becomes high-order. Then we can incorporate GEM with FM and even its advanced variants to perform feature interactions. More specifically, in this paper, we utilize graph convolution networks (GCN) to generate high-order embeddings. We integrate GEM with several FM-based models and conduct extensive experiments on two real-world datasets. The results demonstrate significant improvement of GEM over the corresponding baselines.

The variation of microbiological characteristics in surface waters during persistent precipitation

Climate change leads to an increase in both the frequency and intensity of extreme precipitation. Surface runoff generated by extreme precipitation has a significant impact on water. However, the impact of persistent precipitation on surface water quality is easy to neglect, due to its prolonged duration and lower-intensity rainfall. This study established eight sampling points within selected surface waters to observe the variation of microbial characteristics in a typical persistence precipitation event. The primary difference between Furong Lake (FL) and Chengqian Reservoir (CR) was: the concentrations of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) were 21.3 +/- 0.7 and 8.3 +/- 1.5 mg/L in FL and CR, respectively. The concentrations of R2A culturable bacteria and coliforms were 10(4.57) and 10(1.58) colony-forming units (CFU)/mL in FL, and were 10(5.46) and 10(2.64) CFU/mL in CR, respectively. During precipitation, the maximum increase concentrations of R2A, NA culturable bacteria, and coliforms were 10(0.75), 10(1.30), and 10(2.27) CFU/mL in FL, respectively. Furthermore, microbial concentration and rainfall did not increase simultaneously, and a delay phenomenon was observed in the increasing microbial concentrations. Through analyzing the concentration change trends and correlation of various water quality indicators during persistent precipitation, the significant correlation between the DOC concentration and the changes in the dominant species of microbial community structure was found in this study (p lined, the abundance of hgcl_clade and CL500-29_marine_group increased. Consequently, although persistent precipitation might not obviously alter the water quality visibly, it could still pose potential microbial risks.

The oxidative condensation between renewable furfural and fatty alcohols is a crucial avenue for producing high-quality liquid fuels and valuable furan derivatives. The selectivity control in this reaction process remains a significant challenge. Herein, we report the strategy of confining well dispersed gold species within ZSM-5 structure to construct highly active Au@ZSM-5 zeolite catalysts for the oxidative condensation of furfural. Characterization results and spectroscopy analyses demonstrate the efficient encapsulation of isolated and cationic Au clusters in zeolite structure. Au@ZSM-5(K) catalyst shows remarkable performance with 69.7% furfural conversion and 90.2% furan-2-acrolein selectivity as well as good recycle stability. It is revealed that the microstructure of ZSM-5 zeolite can significantly promote oxidative condensation activity through confinement effects. This work presents an explicit example of constructing zeolite encaged noble metal catalysts toward targeted chemical transformations.
