Validity of Different Methods to Prenatal Screening for Down’s Syndrom During First and Second Trimester Pregnancy of Chinese Women

Objective To identify and determine the optimal method to screening for fetal Down＇s syndrome （DS）. Methods Three large cohorts with 17 118, 39 903, 16 646 subjects were enrolled for the first trimester double marker （pregnancy-associated plasma protein A and free [B-human chorionic gonadotropin） screening （FTDMS）, second trimester double marker （c{-fetoprotein and free B-human chorionic gonadotropin） screening （STDMS）, and second trimester triple marker （a-fetoprotein, free 13-human chorionic gonadotropin and unconjugated estriol 3） screening （STTMS）, respectively. The sensitivity, specificity, false positive rate （FPR）, false negative rate （FNR） and the areas under ROC curves （AUCs） were estimated in order to determine the optimal screening method in women under or above 35 years old. Results For women under 35 years old, STTMS was the best method with a detection rate of 68.8% and FPR of 4.3% followed by the STDMS with a detection rate （sensitivity） of 66.7% and FPR of 4.9%. The FTDMS had a lower detection rate of 61.1% and FPR of 6.3%. For women above 35 years old, the detection rate of all the methods was similar, but STTMS method had a lowest FPR of 15.9%. For women under 35 years old AUCs were 0.77 （95% CI, 0.64 to 0.91）, 0.81 （95% CI, 0.71 to 0.91）, and 0.82 （95% CI, 0.69 to 0.96） for FTDMS, STDMS, and STTMS methods, respectively; for those above 35 years old, AUCs were 0.70 （95% CI, 0.56 to 0.83）, 0.70 （95% CI, 0.59 to 0.82）, 0.78 （95% Cl, 0.58 to 0.97） for FTDMS, STDMS and SITMS, respectively. Conclusion Findings from our study revealed that STDMS is optimal for the detection of fetal DS in pregnant women aged under 35. For individual women, if economic condition permits, STFMS is the best choice, while for women aged above 35, STTMS is the best choice in this regard.

Modelling low carbon transition and economic impacts under SSPs and RCPs based on GTIMES

The simulation of global and regional energy system transition and its potential mitigation cost could intuitively reflect the need for earlier climate mitigation actions. To explore the possible transitions of global and regional energy system, this study applied a 14-region energy system model (GTIMES) with scenarios designed using Shared Socio-economic Pathways (SSPs) with Representative Concentration Pathways (RCPs), and detailed depicts the quantification of SSPs trajectories into GTIMES model. Modeling results show that: 1) Global energy-related CO_(2) emissions will reach 37–74 Gt by 2050 under reference scenarios, while they will decrease to 12–14 Gt under higher possibility pathways to reach 2 ℃ target, with ratios of non-fossil fuel round to 42%–46%. 2) Electrification level has to increase noticeably in regional transition with a global average level of about 44% to achieve significant emission reduction. 3) Higher level of mitigation cost would happen with the constraint mitigation target, as well as social and economic trajectories chosen. Therefore, following trajectories of sustainable development is necessary.

Mangroves are crucial to the ecological security of the Earth and human well-being. Their management, conservation, and restoration are of great importance and necessitate the support of spatio-temporal information and multidisciplinary knowledge such as biology and ecology. Traditional knowledge services such as plant atlas provide illustrated textual knowledge of mangroves. However, this kind of service is oriented to information retrieval and is incapable of effectively mining and utilizing fragmented knowledge from multi-source heterogeneous data, facing the problem of “massive data, rare knowledge”. Knowledge graphs are capable of extracting, organizing, and fusing the knowledge contained in massive data into semantic networks that can be understood and computed by computers. They provide a solution for the realization of intelligent knowledge services. Focusing on the urgent need for mangrove knowledge acquisition, formal representation, and intelligent services, this paper proposes a research prospect on mangrove knowledge graphs and knowledge services. We first analyze the similarities and differences between various domain-specific concepts of Tupu. On this basis, we define the mangrove knowledge graph as a large-scale knowledge base that integrates multi-disciplinary knowledge and spatio-temporal information with mangrove ecosystems as the core. Then, we propose a research framework for mangrove knowledge services that can realize the transformation from multi-modal data to intelligent knowledge services, including multiple research levels such as ubiquitous data sensing and aggregation, knowledge organization and graph construction, and intelligent mangrove knowledge services. Subsequently, the methods and workflow for constructing mangrove knowledge graphs are introduced. Rechargeable aqueous zinc-metal batteries （AZMBs） are promising candidates for large-scale energy storage systems due to their low cost and high ***,their performance and sustainability are significantly hindered by the sluggish desolvation kinetics at the electrode/electrolyte interface and the corresponding hydrogen evolution reaction where active water molecules tightly participate in the Zn（H2O）62+solvation ***,learnt from self-generated solid electrolyte interphase （SEI） in anodes,the dielectric but ion-conductive zinc niobate nanoparticles artificial layer is constructed on metallic Zn surface （ZNB@Zn）,acting as a rapid desolvation *** zincophilic and dielectric-conductive properties of ZNB layer accelerate interfacial desolvation/diffusion and suppress surface corrosion or dendrite formation,achieving uniform Zn plating/stripping behavior,as confirmed by electronic/optical microscopies and interface spectroscopical measurements together with theoretical ***,the as-prepared ZNB@Zn electrode exhibits excellent cycling stability of over 2000 h and robust reversibility （99.54%） even under high current density and depth of discharge ***,the assembled ZNB@Zn-based full cell displays high capacity-retention rate of 80.21%after 3000 cycles at 5 A g-1and outstanding rate performance up to 10 A *** large-areal pouch cell is stabilized for hundreds of cycles,highlighting the bright prospects of the dielectric but ion-conductive layer in further application of AZMBs.

Identifying the dynamic behaviors in complete reconstruction of Co-based complex precatalysts during electrocatalytic oxygen evolution

Transition metal-based nanomaterials have emerged as promising electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reaction（OER）. Considerable research efforts have shown that self-reconstruction occurs on these nanomaterials under operating conditions of OER process. However, most of them undergo incomplete reconstruction with limited thickness of reconstruction layer, leading to low component utilization and arduous exploration of real catalytic mechanism. Herein, we identify the dynamic behaviors in complete reconstruction of Co-based complexes during OER. The hollow phytic acid（PA） cross-linked CoFe-based complex nanoboxes with porous nanowalls are designed because of their good electrolyte penetration and mass transport ability, in favor of the fast and complete reconstruction. A series of experiment characterizations demonstrate that the reconstruction process includes the fast substitution of PA by OH-to form Co（Fe）(OH)xand subsequent potential-driven oxidation to Co（Fe）OOH. The obtained CoFeOOH delivers a low overpotential of 290 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm-2and a long-term *** experiment results together with theory calculations reveal that the Fe incorporation can result in the electron rearrangement of reconstructed CoFeOOH and optimization of their electronic structure,accounting for the enhanced OER activity. The work provides new insights into complete reconstruction of metal-based complexes during OER and offers guidelines for rational design of high-performance electrocatalysts.

Moment Redistribution Effect of the Continuous Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer-Concrete Composite Slabs Based on Static Loading Experiment

This study aimed to investigate the moment redistribution in continuous glass fiber reinforced polymer(GFRP)-concrete composite slabs caused by concrete cracking and steel bar yielding in the negative bending moment *** experimental bending moment redistribution test was conducted on continuous GFRP-concrete composite slabs,and a calculation method based on the conjugate beam method was *** composite slabs were formed by combining GFRP profiles with a concrete layer and supported on steel beams to create two-span continuous composite slab *** methods,epoxy resin bonding,and stud connection,were used to connect the composite slabs with the steel *** experimental findings showed that the specimen connected with epoxy resin exhibited two moments redistribution phenomena during the loading process:concrete cracking and steel bar yielding at the internal *** contrast,the composite slab connected with steel beams by studs exhibited only one-moment redistribution phenomenon throughout the loading *** the concrete at the internal support cracked,the bending moment decreased in the internal support section and increased in the midspan *** the steel bars yielded,the bending moment further decreased in the internal support section and increased in the mid-span *** GFRP profiles do not experience cracking,there was no significant decrease in the bending moment of the mid-span *** test specimens experienced compressive failure of concrete at the mid-span *** results showed good agreement between the calculated and experimental values of bending moments in the mid-span section and internal support *** proposed model can effectively predict the moment redistribution behavior of continuous GFRP-concrete composite slabs.

Morphological alterations in dendritic spines have been linked to changes in functional communication between neurons that affect learning and ***-4 KIF21A helps organize the microtubule-actin network at the cell cortex by interacting with KANK1;however,whether KIF21A modulates dendritic structure and function in neurons remains *** this study,we found that KIF21A was distributed in a subset of dendritic spines,and that these KIF21A-positive spines were larger and more structurally plastic than KIF21A-negative ***,the interaction between KIF21A and KANK1 was found to be critical for dendritic spine morphogenesis and synaptic *** of either KIF21A or KANK1 inhibited dendritic spine morphogenesis and dendritic branching,and these deficits were fully rescued by coexpressing full-length KIF21A or KANK1,but not by proteins with mutations disrupting direct binding between KIF21A and KANK1 or binding between KANK1 and *** down KIF21A in the hippocampus of rats inhibited the amplitudes of long-term potentiation induced by high-frequency stimulation and negatively impacted the animals’cognitive *** together,our findings demonstrate the function of KIF21A in modulating spine morphology and provide insight into its role in synaptic function.

The E3 ubiquitin ligase,carboxyl terminus of heat shock protein 70(Hsp70)interacting protein(CHIP),also functions as a co-chaperone and plays a crucial role in the protein quality control *** this study,we aimed to investigate the neuroprotective effect of overexpressed CHIP on Alzheimer’s *** used an adeno-associated virus vector that can cross the blood-brain barrier to mediate CHIP overexpression in APP/PS1 mouse *** overexpression significantly ameliorated the performance of APP/PS1 mice in the Morris water maze and nest building tests,reduced amyloid-βplaques,and decreased the expression of both amyloid-βand phosphorylated *** also alleviated the concentration of microglia and astrocytes around *** APP/PS1 mice of a younger age,CHIP overexpression promoted an increase in ADAM10 expression and inhibitedβ-site APP cleaving enzyme 1,insulin degrading enzyme,and neprilysin *** of HSP70 and HSP40,which have functional relevance to CHIP,were also *** nuclei transcriptome sequencing in the hippocampus of CHIP overexpressed mice showed that the lysosomal pathway and oligodendrocyte-related biological processes were up-regulated,which may also reflect a potential mechanism for the neuroprotective effect of *** research shows that CHIP effectively reduces the behavior and pathological manifestations of APP/PS1 ***,overexpression of CHIP could be a beneficial approach for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.

北疆地区15种豆科植物种子对绵羊消化道作用的响应

为揭示北疆地区豆科植物种子对绵羊消化道作用的响应,采集了北疆地区天然草地中常见的15种豆科植物种子。首先测定种子的长、宽、厚和质量,并计算种子的形状指数。其次,用种子饲喂绵羊,收粪试验在种子摄食后的第6、12、24、36、48和72 h进行,测定种子经绵羊消化道作用后的回收率、种子在绵羊消化道内的平均滞留时间以及消化道作用前后种子的萌发行为,并研究了种子大小及形状指数对平均滞留时间和种子回收率的影响。结果如下:15种植物种子质量在1.50–37.68mg之间,形状指数在0.001–0.12之间,均为中等或较大类型的球(圆)形种子;种子被绵羊采食后的排放动态符合高斯模型:Y=0.02+0.74e^(–0.5((X–29.61)/9.41)~2),种子排放高峰期集中在采食后的24–36 h时间段内;种子回收率最大的是洋甘草(Glycyrrhiza glabra)(39.25%),最小的是草木犀(Melilotus officinalis)(4.28%);平均滞留时间最长的是草木犀(37.19 h),最短的是新疆棘豆(Oxytropis sinkiangensis)(22.33 h);种子回收率与种子大小和形状指数之间分别具有符合形如Y=6.45+2.05X–0.04X^2和Y=2.59+36.97e^(–24.47X)的函数关系模型;平均滞留时间与种子大小和形状指数之间分别具有符合形如Y=12.48+37.44e–0.07X和Y=3.93+2055.33X–21757.99X^2的函数关系模型,此结果表明,较大、较小和形状不规则的豆科种子较易被绵羊消化和排泄。经绵羊消化道作用后,多叶锦鸡儿(Caragana pleiophylla)种子的萌发率由消化前的96.22%显著降低至35.17%,野火球(Trifolium lupinaster)和狐尾黄耆(Astragalus alopecurus)种子萌发率和消化前相比差异不显著,其余12种种子的萌发率均显著提高(p<0.05)。
