The Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS)Flexible Global Ocean Atmosphere Land System(FGOALS-f3-L)model datasets prepared for the sixth phase of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project(CMIP6)Global Monsoons Model Intercomparison Project(GMMIP)Tier-1 and Tier-3 experiments are introduced in this paper,and the model descriptions,experimental design and model outputs are *** are three simulations in Tier-1,with different initial states,and five simulations in Tier-3,with different topographies or surface thermal ***,Tier-3 contains four orographic perturbation experiments that remove the Tibetan Iranian Plateau,East African and Arabian Peninsula highlands,Sierra Madre,and Andes,and one thermal perturbation experiment that removes the surface sensible heating over the Tibetan Iranian Plateau and surrounding regions at altitudes above 500 *** datasets will contribute to CMIP6’s value as a benchmark to evaluate the importance of long-term and short-term trends of the sea surface temperature in monsoon circulations and precipitation,and to a better understanding of the orographic impact on the global monsoon system over highlands.

Discovery and development of tricyclic matrinic derivatives as anti-diabetic candidates by AMPKαactivation

We found compound 12N-p-trifluoromethylbenzenesulfonyl matrinane(1)was a potent anti-diabetic ***-five tricyclic matrinic derivatives were synthesized and determined for their stimulatory effects on glucose consumption in L6 myotubes,taking 1 as the *** high-fat diet(HFD)and STZ induced diabetic mice,9a significantly lowers blood glucose,improves glucose tolerance,and especially alleviates diabetic nephropathy and islet *** study indicates that 9a simultaneously targets mitochondrial complex I to increase AMP/ATP ratio,as well as liver kinase B1(LKB1)and calcium/calmodulindependent protein kinase(Ca MKK),which synergistically activates AMPKαand then stimulates glucose transporter 4(GLUT4)membrane translocation and 2-deoxyglucose(2-DG)uptake to exert anti-diabetic ***,compound 9a with a novel structure is a promising anti-diabetic candidate with the advantage of multiple-target mechanism,worthy of further investigation.

UAV Assisted Heterogeneous Wireless Networks:Potentials and Challenges

By fully exploiting the spatial resources, unmanned aerial vehicles （UAVs） are expected to serve as an efficient complementary to terrestrial wireless communication system to provide enhanced coverage and reliable connectivity to ground users. With the growing deployment of units such as small cell base stations （BSs）, however, the incurred severe interference may hinder the potential benefits of the integration of UAVs. In this paper, we first discuss the intrinsic features and potential benefits of UAVs and introduce the architecture of multi-layer heterogeneous wireless network （MHetNet）, in which traditional wireless network is assisted by UAVs. Then, an explicit discussion on the factors that limit the performance of MHetNet is presented, including the UAV topology, UAV density, and spectrum sharing of UAV and terrestrial networks. We use simulation results to investigate the performance of MHetNet in terms of spatial throughput （ST）. It is shown that, together with the densities of UAV and terI＇estrial networks, the altitude of UAV is a limiting factor that should be optimized to improve the ST of MHetNet.

The design and synthesis of stable metal–organic frameworks(MOFs)have been a core obstacle in the widespread application of these functional crystalline porous materials,because of the stability limitations of MOFs under harsh operating ***,a highly stable microporous MOF based on the Fe_(3)O cluster(PCN-678)has been synthesized using a tetracarboxylate *** symmetry reduced tetratopic carboxylate ligand,a mesoporous MOF(PCN-668)could be obtained in which nanoscale cage-like building units and one-dimensional(1D)channels *** neighboring cages were mutual diastereomers in PCN-668 due to the further reduction of the Cs symmetry of the free ligand to C1 symmetry after ***,the acid stability of this mesoporous MOF was improved via postsynthetic metal exchange to chromium(PCN-668-Cr).The PCN-668-Cr exhibited very high stability in both acidic and basic aqueous solutions(pH=1–11).Additionally,the mesoporous MOF showed a high total gravimetric methane uptake(∼500 cm^(3) g^(−1) at 100 bar),while the microporous MOF showed a high volumetric methane storage capacity of 147 cm3 cm−3 at room temperature.

Considering the system to be 3 degrees of freedom,a simplified mathematical model of centre axle trailer train was presented to analyse the handling *** factors affecting the stability and steering characteristics of centre axle trailer train were obtained according to the stable response under step *** stability and instability interval of the tractor-trailer system were obtained *** usefulness of the model is validated by multibody dynamics *** on the abovementioned model,the influence of the interchangeability of mechanical connection device between the tractor and the trailer on the vehicle stability and the changing trend of the vehicle steering characteristics in the stability interval are *** sensitivity of stability to variations in steering characteristics of tractor,velocity and the distance from trailer’s mass centre to axle is illustrated according to the results.

High performance high-temperature superconducting (HTS) filters have been designed and constructed for satellite application. The filters are actually a superconducting integration of an 8-pole band-pass filter with an adjustable band-stop filter onto a single piece of LaAlO3 substrate (with dimension of 0.5×45×20 mm3). Typical results of the filters, i.e., Filters A (made by YBCO) & B (made by TBCCO) will be reported. The measured responses of Filter A showed excellent specifications, e.g., an insertion loss less than 0.1 dB, a return loss better than -22.5 dB in pass-band, band-edge steepness greater than 12 dB/MHz and out-of-band rejection at a certain band deeper than -110 dB. To satisfy the requirement of rocket launch and space operation, three filters of the above design have undergone mechanical environmental simulation tests for space qualification. Detailed analysis of the response curves of Filter B measured before and after the tests showed that no noticeable change in the per-formance can be found. All the filters passed the rigorous ground simulation tests, which is the first time in China for HTS devices and provided a solid foundation for satellite applications of high-temperature superconductors in the near future.

Co-expression with RadA and the characterization of stRad55B, a RadA paralog from the hyperthermophilic crenarchaea Sulfolobus tokodaii

ST0838 (designed stRad55B) is one of the four RadA paralogs (or Rad55 homologues) in the genome of the hyperthermophilic crenarchaeon Sulfolobus tokodaii. The gene is induced by UV irradiation, sug-gesting that it is involved in DNA recombinational repair in this organism. However, this protein could not be expressed normally in vitro. In this study, thermostable and soluble stRad55B was obtained by co-expression with S. tokodaii RadA (stRadA) in E. coli, and the enzymatic properties were examined. It was found that stRad55B bound ssDNA preferentially and had a very weak ATPase activity that was not stimulated by DNA. The recombinant protein inhibited the strand exchange activity promoted by stRadA, indicating that stRad55B might be an inhibitor to the homologous recombination in this ar-chaeon. The results will be helpful for further functional and interaction analysis of RadA paralogs and for the understanding of the mechanism of recombinational repair in archaea.
