Optimization strategies for operational parameters of Rydberg atom-based amplitude modulation receiver

The Rydberg atom-based receiver, as a novel type of antenna, demonstrates broad application prospects in the field of microwave communications. However, since Rydberg atomic receivers are nonlinear systems, mismatches between the parameters of the received amplitude modulation(AM) signals and the system's linear workspace and demodulation operating points can cause severe distortion in the demodulated signals. To address this, the article proposes a method for determining the operational parameters based on the mean square error(MSE) and total harmonic distortion(THD) assessments and presents strategies for optimizing the system's operational parameters focusing on linear response characteristics(LRC) and linear dynamic range(LDR). Specifically, we employ a method that minimizes the MSE to define the system's linear workspace, thereby ensuring the system has a good LRC while maximizing the LDR. To ensure that the signal always operates within the linear workspace, an appropriate carrier amplitude is set as the demodulation operating point. By calculating the THD at different operating points, the LRC performance within different regions of the linear workspace is evaluated, and corresponding optimization strategies based on the range of signal strengths are proposed. Moreover, to more accurately restore the baseband signal, we establish a mapping relationship between the carrier Rabi frequency and the transmitted power of the probe light, and optimize the slope of the linear demodulation function to reduce the MSE to less than 0.8×10^(-4). Finally, based on these methods for determining the operational parameters, we explore the effects of different laser Rabi frequencies on the system performance, and provide optimization recommendations. This research provides robust support for the design of high-performance Rydberg atom-based AM receivers.

Adult split liver transplantation to treat liver cancer: a single-center retrospective study

BACKGROUND: The increasing morbidity of liver cancer has led to a growing demand for transplantation. Split liver transplantation(SLT) is a promising way to ameliorate organ shortages. However, the safety and efficacy of SLT are still controversial. The aim of this study was to assess the clinical outcome of SLT in liver cancer patients at our center. METHODS: A total of 74 patients who received liver transplantation at a tertiary hospital from March 2019 to July 2023 were retrospectively studied, of whom 37 recipients underwent SLT and 37 recipients underwent whole-graft liver transplantation(WGLT). Clinical data were analyzed and compared between patients who underwent SLT and ***: SLT and WGLT were successfully performed, with no intraoperative transplantrelated mortality. Postoperatively, no significant differences in total bilirubin(TB, P=0.266), alanine transaminase(ALT, P=0.403) and aspartate transaminase(AST, P=0.160) levels within 30 d were detected between the two groups. The transplant-related mortality rates were 8.1% in the SLT group and 5.4% in the WGLT group within 30 d of surgery(P=1.000), and 10.8% and 8.1%, respectively, at 90 d after surgery(P=1.000). There were no significant differences in overall survival(OS) and progress-free survival(PFS) between the SLT and WGLT groups(P=0.910, P=0.190). CONCLUSION: Our results show that SLT does not imply additional risks in treating liver cancer compared with WGLT.

欧盟将于2026年1月试运行碳关税,而中国作为欧盟的最大贸易伙伴,也是碳密集产品的出口国,必定会受到不小的冲击。为准确核算中国对欧盟的贸易隐含碳排放量,利用多区域投入产出模型,将中国对欧盟的贸易隐含碳排放数据计算到了2020年,以此分析2011—2020年各行业的贸易隐含碳排放量情况,预测行业未来贸易隐含碳排放量的变动趋势。为更好应对欧盟碳关税对中国出口贸易的影响,采用GTAP-E模型,设置了12种情景,从中国出口到欧盟的贸易量、贸易条件、居民福利及二氧化碳排放量等4个方面分析了碳关税对中国的影响,得到以下结论:欧盟征收碳关税一定程度上能达到阻止中国部分产品出口的目的;关于碳关税对减排的作用,首先,与欧盟对内征收碳税的政策相比,对提升欧盟的减排作用不大;其次,碳关税对中国的减排作用微乎其微。根据研究结论,提出了扩大内需,创新低碳技术;制定碳税,完善国内碳排放交易体系;加强中欧沟通,促进多边贸易合作;参与国际气候相关政策制定,提升国际话语权等对策建议。

Performance analysis of cognitive relay systems with spectrum- sharing interference under a primary outage probability constraint

This paper investigates the performance of an underlay cognitive relay system where secondary users（SUs） suffer from a primary outage probability constraint and spectrum-sharing interference imposed by a primary user（PU）. In particular, we consider a secondary multi-relay network operating in the selection decode-and-forward（SDF） mode and propose a best-relay selection criterion which takes into account the spectrum-sharing constraint and interference. Based on these assumptions, the closed-form expression of the outage probability of secondary transmissions is derived. We find that a floor of the outage probability occurs in high signal-to-noise ratio（SNR） regions due to the joint effect of the constraint and the interference from the PU. In addition, we propose a generalized definition of the diversity gain for such systems and show that a full diversity order is achieved. Simulation results verify our theoretical solutions.

Monitoring nearest neighbor queries with cache strategies

The problem of continuously monitoring multiple K-nearest neighbor (K-NN) queries with dynamic object and query dataset is valuable for many location-based applications. A practical method is to partition the data space into grid cells, with both object and query table being indexed by this grid structure, while solving the problem by periodically joining cells of objects with queries having their influence regions intersecting the cells. In the worst case, all cells of objects will be accessed once. Object and query cache strategies are proposed to further reduce the I/O cost. With object cache strategy, queries remaining static in current processing cycle seldom need I/O cost, they can be returned quickly. The main I/O cost comes from moving queries, the query cache strategy is used to restrict their search-regions, which uses current results of queries in the main memory buffer. The queries can share not only the accessing of object pages, but also their influence regions. Theoretical analysis of the expected I/O cost is presented, with the I/O cost being about 40% that of the SEA-CNN method in the experiment results.

ε-inclusion: privacy preserving re-publication of dynamic datasets

This paper presents a novel privacy principle, ε-inclusion, for re-publishing sensitive dynamic datasets. ε-inclusion releases all the quasi-identifier values directly and uses permutation-based method and substitution to anonymize the microdata. Combined with generalization-based methods, ε-inclusion protects privacy and captures a large amount of correlation in the microdata. We develop an effective algorithm for computing anonymized tables that obey the ε-inclusion privacy requirement. Extensive experiments confirm that our solution allows significantly more effective data analysis than generalization-based methods.

Coupling analysis of transcutaneous energy transfer coils with planar sandwich structure for a novel artificial anal sphincter

This paper presents a set of analytical expressions used to determine the coupling coefficient between primary and secondary Litz-wire planar coils used in a transcutaneous energy transfer(TET) system. A TET system has been designed to power a novel elastic scaling artificial anal sphincter system(ES-AASS) for treating severe fecal incontinence(FI), a condition that would benefit from an optimized TET. Expressions that describe the geometrical dimension dependence of self- and mutual inductances of planar coils on a ferrite substrate are provided. The effects of ferrite substrate conductivity, relative permeability, and geometrical dimensions are also considered. To verify these expressions, mutual coupling between planar coils is computed by 3D finite element analysis(FEA), and the proposed expressions show good agreement with numerical results. Different types of planar coils are fabricated with or without ferrite substrate. Measured results for each of the cases are compared with theoretical predictions and FEA solutions. The theoretical results and FEA results are in good agreement with the experimental data.

连续刚构桥在山区高速中应用较为广泛,温度和混凝土收缩对其边墩受力影响较大。为了研究温度效应和混凝土收缩效应对刚构桥边墩受力行为的影响规律,以陕西某高速连续刚构桥结构尺寸为计算依托,通过对边墩的高度和尺寸进行变参数分析,研究边墩温度应力及混凝土收缩应力与桥墩高度和桥墩尺寸的关系,进而为连续刚构桥边墩的选型提供支撑。研究结果表明,边墩应力与主梁的线刚度存在一定的比例关系;温度效应和混凝土收缩效应对边墩受力的影响规律基本一致,且温度对边墩的影响效应较大。

FOURTH ORDER EVOLUTION EQUATIONS WITH SLOWLY VARYING DEPTH AND CURRENT AND STABILITY OF STOKES WAVES

Fourth order evolution equations with slowly varying depth and current have been derived for two-dimensional modulation Stokes waves in arbitrary water depth. In the absence of current and variation of topography the equations reduce to those of Brinch-Nielsen & Jonsson, and the third order terms agree with those of Turpin & Benmoussa & Mei. Stokes wave in the slowly varying depth and current is specified, and its instability to small sidebands is studied in detail. A general criterion of instability with growth rate 0(Ε2) is given, and the maximum growth rate has also been obtained. An interesting result is that in the fourth-order theory the existence of current and varying depth leads the Stokes wave to be always unstable to small sidebands disturbance.
