Neiguan(PC6) acupoint stimulation for preventing chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting: a cost-effective supplement in guideline-inconsistent chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting prophylaxis subgroup

OBJECTIVE: To assess the efficacy and safety of Neiguan(PC6) acupoint acustimulation in preventing chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting(CINV),especially for patients with guideline-inconsistent CINV prophylaxis(GICP) due to personal reasons METHODS: From January 2021 to December 2021, 373 patients suffered from solid malignancy were recruited according to the inclusion criteria. Complete response(no emesis and no rescue medication use) rate during the overall phase(0-120 h of each chemo-cycle) was the primary assessment of CINV control. The Functional Living Index-Emesis(FLIE) questionnaire was investigated among these patients as a secondary 'quality of life' objective to assess the impact of CINV on patients' daily life by recording score of nausea and vomiting. RESULTS: With acustimulation of Neiguan(PC6) acupuncture point through a portable, noninvasive and user-friendly device, in terms of complete response rate and scores in nausea/vomiting by FLIE questionnaire, patients achieve a better outcome in highly emetogenic chemotherapy(HEC) induced CINV, especially GICP subgroup. Meanwhile, analysis also demonstrated this tendency existed in other patients with HEC/GCCP(guideline consistent CINV prophylaxis) and moderate emetogenic chemotherapy, although the difference was not significant. CONCLUSION: Considering advantages of Neiguan(PC6) acustimulation such as noninvasive, covered by medical insurance and few side effects, we believe it would be an ideal auxiliary tool in CINV control, especially in patients who receive highly emetogenic chemoprotocol and are reluctant to GCCP for economic reasons.

Since the relationship between angiogenesis and tumor growth was established by Folkman in 1971, scientists have made efforts exploring the possibilities in treating cancer by targeting angiogenesis. Inhibition of angiogenesis growth factors and administration of angiogenesis inhibitors are the basics of anti- angiogenesis therapy. Transfer of anti-angiogenesis genes has received attention recently not only because of the advancement of recombinant vectors, but also because of the localized and sustained expression of therapeutic gene product inside the tumor after gene transfer. This review provides the up-to-date information about the strategies and the vectors studied in the field of anti-angiogenesis cancer gene therapy.

Retrospective analysis of prognostic factors for sixty osteosarcoma patients with local recurrence

Objective:The aim of this study was to identify prognostic factors and imply the appropriate management for local recurrent ***:The clinical records of 60 patients with local recurrence osteosarcoma were reviewed between January 2002 and December *** mean followed-up time for these patients was 49.1 months(range 13 to 143 months).The factors of age,gender,tumor site,tumor size,surgical procedure,neoadjuvant chemotherapy,frequency of primary postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy,lung metastasis,metastasis of other sites(except for lung) and treatment after local recurrence were selected as the measurements for this ***-Meier method was used to measure the overall survival and post-recurrence *** univariate analysis was used to determine the prognostic factors related with survival by Log-rank *** COX proportional-hazard regression model was used to analyze the correlation between the prognostic factor and the ***:The median post-recurrence survival and overall survival of 60 patients were 32 months(95% confidence interval:16.2-47.8) and 55 months(95% confidence interval:39.3-70.7) *** 2and 3-year cumulative survival rates were 81.7% and 55.4%,*** Log-rank univariate analysis showed that age,gender,tumor size,metastasis of other sites(except for lung) and treatment after local recurrence were associated with the prognosis of osteosarcoma with local recurrence(P 0.05).Conclusion:The independent prognostic factors for local

Clinical application value of bone turnover markers in non-small-cell lung cancer patients with bone metastases

Comparison between preadolescent and adolescent patients with high-grade osteosarcoma in China

Objective:The aim of this study was to assess the differences in clinical appearance and prognosis of osteosarcoma between preadolescent and adolescent in Chinese patients and investigate whether age at diagnosis is a prognostic ***:Between May 2002 and May 2009,ninety-six children with high-grade osteosarcoma treated at our institute were stratified according to the age of *** were 19 preadolescents(≤ 10 years) and 77 adolescents(10 years < age ≤ 19 years),and their medical records were reviewed and compared using Fisher exact *** survival and disease-free survival was estimated by Kaplan-Meier methods and compared using log-rank *** prognostic significance of the various factors on survival was examined by Cox regression ***:There were no significant differences in terms of Karnofsky Performance Status(KPS) score,Enneking stage,tumor location,histologic type,pathologic fracture,tumor necrosis rate,tumor size,relapse and frequencies of adjuvant chemotherapy between the two groups.A high proportion of preadolescent patients was treated with amputation(78.9% vs.44.2%;P = 0.01).The 5-year survival of the preadolescent and adolescent groups was(38 ± 14)% and(33 ± 10)%,and the 2-year disease free survival for each group was(45 ± 12)% and(44.4 ± 6.3)%,*** study showed that age did not have any statistical significance for survival(P = 0.803).Univariate analysis indicated that KPS score;frequencies of adjuvant chemotherapy,tumor size and relapse were significantly related to overall *** Cox regression analysis revealed that both frequencies of adjuvant chemotherapy and relapse were independently prognostic factors for ***:Clinical characteristics and survival between the preadolescents and adolescents with osteosarcoma in China were *** we suggested that there did not need to treat preadolescents patients by alternative and/or aggressive therapies compared with adolesc

Expression levels of CXCR4 and VEGF correlate with blood-borne metastatic progression and outcome in patients with osteosarcoma

Objective:We determine whether chemokine receptor CXCR4 and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) expression related to the metastasis and survival outcome of patients with ***:Tissue microarray(TMA) was used to detect the expression of CXCR4 and VEGF in 56 osteosarcoma patient ***-year follow-up was performed to observe the metastatic behavior and overall survival of osteosarcoma ***:There was a significant correlation between the expression levels of CXCR4 and VEGF in 56 osteosarcoma patient samples(P = 0.002).Univariate analysis revealed the expression of CXCR4 and VEGF was not associated with age, gender and the level of ALP but associated with clinical ***:These data raises the possibility that VEGF could regulate the levels of CXCR4 to promote the migration of tumor cells to target ***4 and VEGF expression are highly correlated with metastatic progression in patients with osteosarcoma and their immunohistochemical expression have predictive value for the metastatic development.

Crowd Counting for Real Monitoring Scene

Crowd counting is a challenging task in computer vision as realistic scenes are al?ways filled with unfavourable factors such as severe occlusions, perspective distortions and di?verse distributions. Recent state-of-the-art methods based on convolutional neural network (CNN) weaken these factors via multi-scale feature fusion or optimal feature selection through a front switch-net. L2 regression is used to regress the density map of the crowd, which is known to lead to an average and blurry result, and affects the accuracy of crowd count and po?sition distribution. To tackle these problems, we take full advantage of the application of gen?erative adversarial networks (GANs) in image generation and propose a novel crowd counting model based on conditional GANs to predict high-quality density maps from crowd images. Furthermore, we innovatively put forward a new regularizer so as to help boost the accuracy of processing extremely crowded scenes. Extensive experiments on four major crowd counting datasets are conducted to demonstrate the better performance of the proposed approach com?pared with recent state-of-the-art methods.

背景与目的:骨肉瘤是较常发生于青少年的间叶组织来源的恶性肿瘤。多发于四肢,较少发生于颌面部。此类骨肉瘤的治疗大多为手术切除,辅以化疗和放疗。因为较为罕见,国内报道较少。故该研究探讨影响颌面部骨肉瘤预后的相关因素。方法:回顾性分析了2010年1月—2017年1月收治的32例颌面部骨肉瘤的临床病理资料并且对预后进行随访,随访时间为7~90个月,平均为75个月,以性别、年龄、肿瘤大小、手术切缘、肿瘤的生长部位、手术方式、手术后进行辅助化疗的次数、局部复发及转移这9项因素作为变量。应用Kaplan-Meier计算并分析其生存率,应用log-rank进行单因素分析检验,应用Cox回归模型进行多因素分析,研究这些因素和患者的生存率之间的关联。结果:32例骨肉瘤患者中位总生存期(overall survival,OS)为(47.6±8.4)个月(95%CI:31.1~64.1),累计1年和2年生存率分别为84%和72%,5年生存率为44%。单因素分析结果显示,骨肉瘤的手术切缘、术后化疗与患者的复发有关。肿瘤直径、手术切缘、术后辅助化疗是影响骨肉瘤生存的因素。多因素分析结果显示,肿瘤大小、术后辅助化疗是影响颌面部骨肉瘤患者治疗预后的主要因素。其他变量差异无统计学意义。结论:颌面部骨肉瘤有独特的生物学特性和预后,手术切缘和术后辅助化疗次数是影响骨肉瘤患者预后的主要因素。

乳腺癌是一种容易发生骨转移的女性常见恶性肿瘤。乳腺癌细胞的特异性、骨微环境及两者间相互作用是形成骨转移的共同因素。乳腺癌细胞表达的趋化因子受体、整合素、溶骨因子和成骨因子等使肿瘤细胞易于扩散到骨,而骨微环境可以为肿瘤细胞的生长提供丰富的生长因子和细胞因子。一旦乳腺癌细胞侵入骨质,肿瘤细胞分泌的因子就会作用于骨的外在结构和内在结构(如造血干细胞、T细胞、血小板、内皮细胞等),使骨质破坏且分泌相关因子反作用于癌细胞,从而引起转移的级联反应和恶性循环形成。

Retrospective clinical analysis of MAID protocol as first-line treatment on 137 metastatic soft-tissue sarcomas patients

Objective:The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy,adverse reaction and survival of MAID protocol as first-line treatment on 137 metastatic soft tissue sarcomas ***:One hundredand thirty-seven patients with metastatic soft tissue sarcoma were given MAID protocol chemotherapy which consists of ifosfamide at a total dose of 8-10 g/m2 in 4-5 days,adriamycin at a dose of 60 mg/m2 on first day and dacarbazine at a dose of 200 mg/m2/d in 4-5 *** one days were regarded as a cycle and 2-6 cycles were *** median cycle number was ***:Four cases had complete remission(CR)(2.9%),thirteen cases achieved partial remission(PR)(9.5%),eighty-eight cases maintained a stable disease(SD)(64.2%),and thirty-two cases had progressive disease(PD)(23.4%).The overall response rate(RR) was 12.4%,disease control rate(DCR) was 76.6%.The progression-free survival(PFS) was 2-14 months and median PFS was 5.00 ± 1.12 *** overall survival(OS) was 3-19 months and median OS was 8.00 ± 1.32 *** months PFS rate was 56.9%,six months PFS rate was 27.2% and one year PFS rate was 7.8%.Three months OS rate was 100.0%,six months OS rate was 41.5% and one year OS rate was 10.7%.The main adverse reactions were bone marrow supression,nausea/vomiting and *** adverse reactions were seldom ***:The effect of MAID protocol as first-line treatment on metastatic soft tissue sarcomas patients was exact,the treatment can control disease progression effectively and the side effects can be *** was obviously very worthy in clinical use as one of the first-line chemotherapy protocols on advanced soft tissue sarcomas.
