Special issue on multiagent-based system modeling and control practices

This paper summarizes the framework of applying probability-constrained optimal control for combustion engines. The probabilistic constrained control problem is formulated in engine, after which, both the data driven-based methodology and explicit model-based are briefly reviewed to address the problem. Two study cases are given as the explanation for the applications of probability-constrained optimal control in engine system. The first study case is knock probability constrained thermal efficiency optimization. An iterative learning-based control strategy is proposed to solve the problem by combining extremum seeking method and likelihood-based method. On the other hand, scenario approach is applied to solve torque tracking control with combustion phase probabilistic threshold.

Damage in Tungsten Induced by 500 keV He Ion Implantation

In spark-ignition（SI） internal combustion engines, fluctuations of the in-cylinder pressure trace and the combustion phase are usually different from one cycle to another. Distinguishing the randomness and the chaos, both of which cause the cycle-to-cycle variation（CCV）, is beneficial to the optimization of engine control strategies. In this paper, the cycle-to-cycle varied CA50 series are analyzed based on the chaos theory, and the Lyapunov exponents of CA50 series are calculated. In contrast, an independent repeated random number series is analyzed by the same method. Comparing the Lyapunove exponents of measured CA50 series, some classic chaos systems, and the independent random number series, it can be found that the evolution of CA50 is affected more by randomness than by chaos.

To investigate that synergistic effect of hydrogen and helium on bubble nucleation and growth,vacancy-type defects induced by H-implantation,He-implantation and co-implantation of H and He in SIMP steels respectively were detected by positron annihilation Doppler broadening *** comparing their S values,it is found that an increase of S parameter induced by H-implantation is more remarkable than that induced by He-implantation due to H atoms essentially do not occupy substitutional vacant sites in small vacancy clusters but He *** interesting finding is that the S values of He+H sample were smaller than those of H *** indicated that the formation of H-V complexes were suppressed by pre-implantation of He.

Austenitic stainless steels are a class structural material applied in current nuclear reactors and spallation targetsas well as future nuclear devices. It is well known, the migration and interaction of defects and their clusters andsmall dislocation loops caused by irradiation induce changes in mechanical properties of materials and result inradiation hardening and ductility loss of materials. In the present study, microstructure evolution in EC316LNaustenitic steel irradiated with mixed spectra of high-energy proton and spallation neutrons has been investigatedby using Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM).
