Four novel organogermanium scsquioxidcs with anthraquinonc or naphthalene moiety were synthesized. The structures were characterized by IR NMR and elemental analysis, and their cytotoxicitics wcrc evaluated against human chronic mycloid leukemia K562 cell lines. The cytotoxicity could bc improved by the introduction of planar aromatic chromophorc moiety to the parent compound, Ge-132.

Silver(9 wt.%)was loaded on Co_(3)O_(4)-nanofiber using reduction and impregnation methods,*** to the stronger electronegativity of silver,the ratios of surface Co^(3+)/Co^(2+) on Ag/Co_(3)O_(4) were higher than on Co_(3)O_(4),which further led to more adsorbed oxygen species as a result of the charge ***,the introducing of silver also obviously improved the reducibility of Co_(3)O_(4).Hence the Ag/Co_(3)O_(4) showed better catalytic performance than Co_(3)O_(4) in benzene *** with the Ag/Co_(3)O_(4) synthesized via impregnation method,the one prepared using reduction method(named as Ag Co-R)exhibited higher contents of surface Co^(3+) and adsorbed oxygen species,stronger reducibility,as well as more active surface lattice oxygen ***,Ag Co-R showed lowest T_(90) value of 183℃,admirable catalytic stability,largest normalized reaction rate of1.36×10^(-4)mol/(h·m^(2))(150℃),and lowest apparent activation energy(E_(a))of 63.2 kJ/*** analyzing of in-situ DRIFTS indicated benzene molecules were successively oxidized to phenol,o-benzoquinone,small molecular intermediates,and finally to CO_(2) and water on the surface of Ag *** last,potential reaction pathways including five detailed steps were proposed.

BACKGROUND Traumatic internal carotid artery(ICA)occlusion is a rare complication of skull base fractures,characterized by high mortality and disability rates,and poor ***,timely discovery and correct management are crucial for saving the lives of such patients and improving their *** article retrospectively analyzed the imaging and clinical data of three patients,to explore the imaging characteristics and treatment strategies for carotid artery occlusion,combined with severe skull base *** SUMMARY This case included three patients,all male,aged 21,63,and 16 *** underwent plain film skull computed tomography(CT)examination at the onset of their illnesses,which revealed fractures at the bases of their ***,these cases were definitively diagnosed through CT angiography(CTA)*** first patient did not receive surgical treatment,only anticoagulation therapy,and recovered smoothly with no residual limb dysfunction(Case 1).The other two patients both developed intracranial hypertension and underwent decompressive *** of these patients had high intracranial pressure and significant brain swelling postoperatively,leading the family to choose to take him home(Case 2).The other patient also underwent decompressive craniectomy and recovered well postoperatively with only mild limb motor dysfunction(Case 3).We retrieved literature from PubMed on skull base fractures causing ICA occlusion to determine the imaging characteristics and treatment strategies for this type of *** For patients with cranial trauma combined with skull base fractures,it is essential to complete a CTA examination as soon as possible,to screen for blunt cerebrovascular injury.

Sediment Trapping from Hyperconcentrated Flow as Affected by Grass Filter Strips

To evaluate the effect of vegetative filter strips on sediment trapping, the spatial distribution of deposited sediment, and the size distribution of deposited particles from hyperconcentrated flows, a simulated grass filter strip experiment was conducted with plastic grass using an adjustable slope steel flume. The simulated vegetation cover was 36%, and the inflow sediment concentrations applied were 147, 238, 320, and 429 kg m^(-3). The sediment concentration in the outflow, and the sediment particle size were determined. The results showed that the grass filter strips trapped most of the sediment from inflow at low sediment concentration. The deposition efficiency decreased with increasing sediment concentration, being 55.2% and 15.7% in the 147 and 429 kg m^(-3)sediment treatments, respectively. Most of the deposited sediments were distributed in the upper flume. In addition, the grass filter strips mainly trapped the coarse sediment (particle size>10 μm).

Humidity not only affects soil microbial respiration(SMR) directly, but, indirectly by regulating the availability of soil water and nutrients. However,the patterns of direct and indirect effects of humidity on SMR over large precipitation gradients remain unclear, limiting our understanding of the effects of precipitation changes on soil C cycle. Here, we investigated the relationships among humidity, soil nutrients, and SMR by identifying stoichiometric imbalances, microbial elemental homeostasis, and microbial C use efficiency along a precipitation gradient at a continental scale. The relationship between SMR and humidity index(HI) corresponded to a Richard’s curve with an inflection point threshold value of approximately 0.7. Soil microbial respiration increased with increasing humidity in drier areas(HI 0.7). Soil microbial communities regulated their enzyme production to maintain a strong stoichiometric homeostasis in drier areas;enzyme production, microbial biomass, and threshold elemental ratios were non-homeostatic under P limitation in wetter areas, which further contributed to the increase in SMR. Our results identified a moisture constraint on SMR in drier areas and highlighted the importance of nutrient(especially for P) limitations induced by humidity in regulating SMR in wetter areas. Understanding the modulation of SMR via soil enzyme activity may improve the prediction of soil C budget under future global climate change.

Gastrodia elata (G. elata ) is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine. In recent years, G. elata has been widely used in food and pharmaceutical industries because of its excellent health benefits. However, the stability and bioactivity of phenolic compounds from G. elata after in vitro gastrointestinal digestion remain unknown. In this study, the aqueous extract of G. elata rhizomes was used to simulate gastrointestinal digestion and colonic fermentation in vitro . This study aimed to evaluate the bioaccessibility during the simulation of gastrointestinal and colonic fermentation and to clarify the effects of different digestion stages on the anti-oxidant and enzyme inhibitory activities and intestinal health of samples in vitro . The results indicated that the total polyphenol and flavonoid contents after colonic fermentation for 72 h were 5.48- and 3.24- fold higher than those without digestion, respectively. Except for gastrodigenin and ferulic acid, the contents and bioaccessibility of the other phenols after fermentation were higher than those in the small-intestine stage. Antioxidant activity was positively correlated with the total polyphenol content. The inhibitory activities of pancrelipase and cholinesterase were enhanced by gastric digestion and colonic fermentation. The sample promoted the production of Lactobacillus and decreased the abundance of pathogenic bacteria. Moreover, the content of short-chain fatty acids also exhibited an upward trend. Therefore, G. elata has the potential to develop into a health food with anti-oxidant, anti-obesity, and intestinal health functions.

Thinning and Shrinkage of Laohugou No. 12 Glacier in the Western Qilian Mountains, China, from 1957 to 2007

Landsat images, real-time kinematic GPS measurements, and topographic maps were used to determine changes in ice elevation, volume, and areal extent of the Laohugou No. 12 glacier (Qilian Mountains, China) between 1957 and 2007. The glacier experienced significant thinning and areal shrinkage in the ablation zone, but slight thickening in part of the accumulation zone. Elevation decreased by 18.6±5.4 m between 1957 and 2007 in the regions covered by the GPS measurements. The total volume loss for the entire glacier was estimated to be 0.218 km3 using a third-order polynomial fit method. The area diminished by 0.28 km2 between 1957 and 1994, 0.26 km2 between 1994 and 2000, and 0.28 km2 between 2000 and 2007, suggesting that the rate of loss in glacial coverage has increased since the mid-1990s. Significant increases in annual mean air temperature may have contributed to shrinkage and thinning of the glacier.
