The main aims of the current study are to determine the morphological features of the periglacial landforms(non-sorted step,mud circle,stony earth circle,thufur,and congeliturbation)located on the Ilgaz Mountains,examine the physicochemical and mineralogical properties with pedological processes of the soils,and assess of the effects of climatic conditions controlling the development of *** Ilgaz Mountains(2587 m a.s.l.),located in the Western Black Sea Region,within the Anatolian Mountains,are important in terms of periglacial landforms(mud circles,stony earth circles,thufurs,non-sorted steps,non-sorted stripes,congeliturbation deposits,and block currents).The descriptive statistics of 123 periglacial landforms measured by fieldworks were *** distribution of freezing and thawing in the Ilgaz Mountains throughout the year was evaluated,and it was found that freezing takes place between December and March,freezing-thawing takes place in April,May,October and november,and thawing takes place between June and *** to soil properties,organic matter content changes from 1.88%to 12.72%in non-sorted step soils,while it is between 2.03%and 12.24%in stony earth circle *** organic matter is observed to be close to congeliturbation deposits at lower ratios compared to non-sorted steps,stony earth circles and mud *** soil reactions on stony earth circles and non-sorted steps vary between slightly acidic and slightly *** the other hand,soil samples taken from the mud circles are different from those taken from the non-sorted steps and stony earth *** soil reaction is acidic,and pH changes between 4.86 and *** lime content also varies between 2.81%and 32.08%,with an average of 12.02%.The texture properties of soils are dominantly loam and clay loam,as in the non-sorted steps,stony earth circles,and mud *** their mineralogical properties,the XRD study was carried out to determine the primer mineral

Evaluation of periglacial landforms and formation of soil properties on the Mount Honaz,SW Türkiye

The main aim of this study is to explain periglacial processes on the summits of Mount Honaz(2571 m a.s.l.),define periglacial landforms,and determine the relationships between morphometric features and topographic *** circles,stony earth circles,non sorted steps,and non sorted stripes were identified on the summits of Mount ***'s correlation coefficient(r)and linear regression analyses were performed by taking metric measurements from 125 periglacial landforms to describe their morphometric features(length,width,height)of periglacial landforms and explain the relationships between them and topographic factors(elevation,slope).To explain the relationships between periglacial landforms and soil properties,soil samples from 11 periglacial landforms were taken and *** landforms,which continue to develop on the summits of Mount Honaz today,have been evaluated with present climate *** of soil samples indicates a notable impact of parent material on the genesis of periglacial *** high ratio of organic matter in mud circle and non sorted step landforms and the high lime ratio in stony earth circle landforms prove a strong relationship between the formation mechanisms of landforms and the soil ***,it is consistent with the findings obtained from the analysis that severe periglacial processes and washing and scavenging events are experienced more on the northern slopes.

Recovery of zinc and lead from Yahyali non-sulphide flotation tailing by sequential acidic and sodium hydroxide leaching in the presence of potassium sodium tartrate

The recovery of zinc and lead from Yahyali non-sulphide flotation tailing using sulfuric acid followed by sodium hydroxide leaching in the presence of potassium sodium tartrate was experimentally *** the acidic leaching stage,the effects of pH,solid-to-liquid ratio and temperature on the dissolution of zinc from the tailing were explored.82.3%Zn dissolution was achieved at a pH of 2,a temperature of 40°C,a solid-to-liquid ratio of 20%and a leaching time of 2 h,whereas the iron and lead dissolutions were determined to be less than 0.5%.The sulfuric acid consumption was found to be 110.6 kg/t(dry tailing).The leaching temperature had no beneficial effect on the dissolution of zinc from the *** acidic leach solution was subjected to an electrowinning *** cathode product consisted of 99.8%Zn and 0.15%*** the alkaline leaching stage,the Pb dissolution increased slightly in the presence of potassium sodium *** than 60%of Pb was taken into the leach solution when the leaching temperature increased from 40 to 80°*** final leach residue was analyzed by XRD and *** XRD results indicated that the major peaks originated from the goethite and quartz while minor peaks stem from smithsonite and *** XRF analysis demonstrated that the residue contained 70.3%iron *** on the sequential leaching experiments,the zinc and lead were excellently depleted from the flotation tailing,leaving a considerable amount of iron in the final residue.

Leaching of a copper flotation concentrate with ammonium persulfate in an autoclave system

The leaching behavior of a copper flotation concentrate was investigated using ammonium persulfate （APS） in an autoclave systee. The decomposition products of APS, active oxygen, and acidic medium were used to extract metals from the concentrate. Leaching experiments were performed to compare the availability of APS as an oxidizing agent for leaching of the concentrate under atmospheric conditions and in an autoclave system. Leaching temperature and APS concentration were found to be important parameters in both leaching systems. Atmospheric leaching studies showed that the metal extractions increased with the increase in APS concentration and temperature （up to 333 K）. A similar tendency was determined in the autoclave studies up to 423 K. It was also determined that the metal extractions decreased at temperatures above 423 K due to the passivation of the particle surface by molten elemental sulfur. The results showed that higher copper extractions could be achieved using an autoclave system.

The addition of naCl in the ammonium persulfate-APS(as an oxidant)leaching was *** has some advantages compared with conventional oxidants and its standard redox potential(E°)*** of six parameters such as naCl concentration,APS concentration,temperature,time,liquid–solid ration(L/S),and stirring speed on the leaching behavior was *** showed that metals extraction increased with increasing of naCl concentration,APS concentration,leaching temperature(up to333K),and L/S *** oxidative leaching of sulfide minerals,the occurrence of elemental sulfur layer on particle surface is known as primary problem that causes low metal *** to the results,the passivation effect of sulfur layer and low dissolution problems can be eliminated in the presence of chloride *** and iron extraction yields were obtained as75%and80%,respectively under leaching conditions as follows:APS concentration250g/L;naCl concentration150g/L;time180min;temperature333K;stirring speed400r/min;and L/S250mL/g.

Investigation of trace metals distribution in water,sediments and wetland plants of Kizilirmak Delta,Turkey

In this study,accumulation and distribution of Pb,Cu,Zn,Co,ni,Mn and Fe in water,bottom sediments and four plant species(Myriophyllum verticillatum,Hydrocharis morsus-ranae,nymphaea alba and Typha latifolia) were investigated in Cernek Lake of Kizilirmak *** Kizilirmak Delta is one of the largest natural wetlands of Turkey and it is protected by the Ramsar convention since *** physico-chemical parameters such as pH,conductivity and dissolved oxygen and also trace metal concentrations were monitored in *** the parameters obtained were found higher than that of the national standards for the protected lakes and *** accumulated amounts of various trace metals in bottom sediments and wetland plants were found in the following order of Fe>Mn>Zn>ni>Co>Cu>Pb and Fe>Mn>Zn>ni>Co *** historical trace metal intake of Myriophyllum verticillatum,Hydrocharis morsus-ranae,Typha latifolia and nymphaea alba were obtained higher than that of the toxic metal levels and these plants may be accepted as accumulators for the detected trace metals and also bioindicators in the historically polluted natural areas.

In this report, we present computed tomographic findings of colonic trichuriasis. The patient was a 75-year-old man who complained of abdominal pain, and weight loss. Diagnosis was achieved by colonoscopic biopsy. Abdominal computed tomography showed irregular and nodular thickening of the wall of the cecum and ascending colon. Although these findings are nonspecific, they may be one of the findings of trichuriasis. These findings, confirmed by pathologic analysis of the biopsied tissue and KatoKatz parasitological stool flotation technique, revealed adult Trichuris. To our knowledge, this is the first report of colonic trichuriasis indicated by computed tomography.

Evaluation of peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer, macula and ganglion cell thickness in amblyopia using spectral optical coherence tomography

AIM:To investigate peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (RnFL), macula and ganglion cell layer thicknesses (GCC) in amblyopic eyes with spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT). METHODS:Thirty six patients with a history of unilateral amblyopia and thirty two children who had emmetropia without amblyopia were included in this study. In this institutional study, 36 eyes of 36 patients with amblyopia (AE), 36 fellow eyes without amblyopia (FE), and 32 eyes of 32 normal subjects (nE) were included. RnFL, GCC and macular thickness measurements were performed with RS-3000 OCT Retina Scan (nidek Inc CA. USA). RESULTS:The mean global thicknesses of the RnFL were 113.22 ±21.47, 111.57 ±18.25, 109.96 ±11.31μm in the AE, FE, and nE, respectively. There was no statistically significant difference for mean global RnFL thickness among the eyes (P =0.13). The mean thicknesses of the macula were 258.25±18.31, 258.75±19.54, 248.62±10.57μm in the AE, FE and nE, respectively. There was no statistically significant difference for thickness of macula among the eyes (P =0.06). The GCC was investigated into two parts:superior and inferior. The mean thicknesses of superior GCC were 102.57 ±13.32, 103.32 ±10.64, 100.52 ± 5.88μm in the AE, FE, and nE, respectively. The mean thicknesses of inferior GCC were 103.82 ±12.60, 107.82 ± 12.33, 105.86±10.79μm in the AE, FE and nE, respectively. There was no statistically significant difference for thickness of superior and inferior GCC between the eyes (P =0.63, P =0.46). ·COnCLUSIOn:The macular thicknesses of AE and FE were greater than the nE, although it was not statistically significant. Amblyopia does not seem to have a profound effect on the RnFL, macula and GCC.

Pterocarpus santalinus L. f.(Fabaceae;red sanders) is prized for its wood whose colour and fragrance is due to the presence of santalins that have pharmaceutical and industrial uses. Red sanders is listed as an endangered plant species on the IUCn red data list as a result of the exploitation of its wood and essential oil. This review emphasizes the pollination biology, seed germination, vegetative propagation and micropropagation of P. santalinus. Excessive use of P. santalinus has also caused the emergence of various adulterants, so accurate identification is essential.
