QTLs for Sugar Content of Stalk in Sweet Sorghum(Sorghum bicolor ***)

High sugar content of sorghum stalk is an important factor in the sorghum silage production. To identify the genomic regions controlling sugar content and to develop molecular markers linked to sugar content in sweet sorghum, we used an F2：3 segregating population consisting of 207 individuals derived from a cross between a high sugar content inbred line, Early Folger, and a normal inbred line, N32B, for genetic linkage mapping and quantitative trait locus （QTL） analysis. We constructed a genetic linkage map spanning 983.5 cM based on a total of 327 markers comprising 31 restriction fragment length polymorphism （RFLP） markers, 254 amplified fragment length polymorphism （AFLP） markers, and 42 simple sequence repeat （SSR） markers. In the 20 linkage groups detected, 98.2% of markers aligned to the 10 linkage groups of sorghum. Variations in sugar content at different growth stages and among internodes suggested that the sugar content of middle internodes is stable and suitable for measuring at early dough stage. The broad sense heritability （hB0 of sugar content was 0.64 and 0.62 estimated from the data of F3 families and each parent in 2003 and 2004. We identified one and two QTLs accounting for 22.2 to 25.0% of phenotypic variance using simple interval mapping method in 2003 and 2004, respectively. These two QTLs showed a negative additive effect, and over-dominance effect. A QTL on LG-D was detected in both two years. Above results will be help us to understand the genetic mechanism of sugar content in sorghum and the QTL detected in this study might be useful in the improvement of sugar content by marker-assisted selection.

Comparison of Combination Treatments of Distigmine and either Mirabegron or Solifenacin for Rats with Partial Bladder Outlet Obstruction

Objective: Detrusor hyperactivity with impaired contractility (DHIC) is not an uncommon bladder disorder, and is often difficult to treat. Therefore, using a rat model featuring both urinary frequency and residual urine, we investigated whether an anticholinergic agent (solifenacin) or a β3-agonist (mirabegron) is more suitable to combine with distigmine to treat DHIC. Methods: The partial bladder outlet obstruction (BOO) rat model was used. Rats were treated for 2 weeks: BOO/Solifenacin group was treated with 0.1 mg/kg solifenacin (n = 8), BOO/Mirabegron group was treated with 1 mg/kg mirabegron (n = 8), BOO/- group was not drug-treated but was given distilled water (n = 8), and the control group was also given distilled water (n = 8). Then the urethral ligature was removed under urethane anesthesia, and continuous cystometry was performed to evaluate bladder function. Baseline measurements were taken, then distigmine was administered to all groups, and cystometry was performed again to measure changes in bladder function. Results: Residual volumes increased in the BOO/- group, and the detrusor contractions were more frequent than that of the control group. Solifenacin treatment did not influence changes, except for threshold pressure, to any cystometric measurements. However, mirabegron treatment decreased the residual volume and residual volume rate;it also decreased detrusor contraction frequency similar to measurements obtained from the control group. Distigmine treatment enhanced detrusor contractions, which resulted in less residual volume, and decreased detrusor contraction frequency in the BOO model. Conclusions: The combination of distigmine and mirabegron was determined to be a better treatment than the combination of distigmine and solifenacin for DHIC.

针对大功率光纤激光焊,分析一种基于近红外图像识别的焊缝跟踪偏差测量新方法.通过高速摄像机获取动态熔池近红外图像序列,分析熔池近红外图像的灰度分布特性,利用图像灰度梯度提取熔池温度分布参数.该参数能够体现激光束偏离焊缝时熔池表面温度的变化特性.以熔池温度分布参数作为特征测量值,利用最小二乘法建立焊缝路径与激光束偏离的近红外视觉模型.结果表明,该模型能够准确地反映熔池温度分布参数与焊缝跟踪偏差之间的数学关系.

Influence of morphology of hollow silica-alumina composite spheres on their activity for hydrolytic dehydrogenation of ammonia borane

Hollow silica-alumina composite spheres were prepared by a polystyrene(PS)template method using various amounts of PS *** hollow spheres prepared using 40 g were found to be with a diameter of about 300 nm in scanning electron microscopy,and transmission electron microscopy demonstrated their hollow sphere *** the nitrogen adsorption isotherm results,the homogeneous hollow spheres prepared using 40 g of the PS suspension were found to be an ordered pore *** activities of the hollow spheres prepared using various amounts of the PS suspension for hydrolytic dehydrogenation of ammonia borane were *** results showed that 10,7,and 6 mL of hydrogen were evolved from the aqueous ammonia borane solution in about 40 min in the presence of the hollow spheres prepared using 40,80,and 120 g of PS suspension,*** homogeneous hollow spheres with an ordered pore structure showed the highest activity among all the hollow *** amount of acid sites and the coordination number of aluminum active species were characterized using neutralization titration and solid-state ^(27)Al magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance *** homogeneous hollow spheres with an ordered pore structure had high amount of acid sites and 4-coordinated aluminum *** relative proportion of 4-coordinated aluminum species was related to the dispersion of aluminum *** results indicate that the homogeneous hollow spheres with an ordered pore structure showed the high activity because of high amount of acid sites induced by the highly dispersed aluminum species.

99mTc-galactosyl human serum albumin（GSA） scintigraphy is useful to evaluate hepatic function and hepatic functional reserve. A reliable SPECT and CT integrated system is now commercially available. Using this system, we can obtain 99mTc-GSA SPECT/CT fused imaging with a small registration error. Therefore, the 99mTc-GSA scintigraphy techniques prove more useful in clinical practice than have been previously reported. In the latest Annals of Surgical Oncology on Oct 2014, the uptake index（UI） values calculated from 99mTc-GSA scintigraphy are reported to be useful for predicting the functional reserve of the future remnant liver. In this paper, we describe the usefulness of 99mTc-GSA scintigraphy as well as some cautions that are necessary as regards using the system.

为弄清光周期对一种亚热带蜚蠊(Periplaneta japanna)若虫发育的控制机理,检测了光周期对冲绳(26°N)和八丈岛(33°N)两个地理种群若虫发育的影响。结果表明,光周期显著影响两地理种群的若虫发育,然而,冲绳和八丈岛种群间显示不同的光周期反应模式。冲绳种群在长日条件下(LD16∶8h)若虫发育显著快于中间日长(LD14∶10h)和短日条件下(LD12∶12h)的若虫发育,孵化后60d或120d将若虫自LD16∶8h向LD12∶12h转移,若虫发育受到抑制,而自LD12∶12h向LD16∶8h转移,则促进若虫发育。八丈岛种群的若虫在短日条件下发育最快,其次是中间日长,长日条件下若虫发育最慢,孵化后60d或120d将若虫自LD16∶8h向LD12∶12h转移抑制若虫发育,反方向转移的若虫快速发育。两地理种群间不同的光周期反应模式可以认为是趋异进化的结果。

Body mass index is associated with age-at-onset of HCV-infected hepatocellular carcinoma patients

AIM: To identify factors associated with the age at onset of hepatitis C virus (HCV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). METHODS: Five hundred and fifty-six consecutive patients positive for HCV antibody and treatment-nafive HCC diagnosed between 1995 and 2004 were analyzed. Patients were classified into three groups according to age at HCC onset: 60 years old were lower and mean BMI values of female patients 25 kg/m2 [hazard ratio (HR), 1.8, P = 0.045], excessive alcohol consumption (HR, 2.5, P = 0.024), male sex (HR, 3.6, P = 0.002), and GGT levels > 50 IU/L (HR, 2.4, P = 0.014) were independently associated with HCC onset in patients < 60 years. Low ALT level was the only factor associated with HCC onset in patients aged ≥ 80 years. CONCLUSION: Increased BMI is associated with increased risk for early HCC development in HCV-infected patients. Achieving recommended BMI and reducing alcohol intake could help prevent hepatic carcinogenesis.

Feasibility of laparoscopic total gastrectomy in overweight patients: Implications of less impact of overweight on laparoscopic versus open approach

AIM To investigate safety and oncological feasibility of laparoscopic total gastrectomy(LTG) in overweight(OW) *** Patients who underwent total gastrectomy(110 laparoscopic, 211 open) for gastric cancer between January 1999 and July 2016 were included. Propensity score matching selected 152 patients(76 laparoscopic, 76 open), which were subsequently divided into the OW(≥ 25) or non-OW(< 25) group by body mass index. Postoperative outcomes of laparoscopic versus open approaches were compared between OW and non-OW groups. RESULTS In the propensity-matched population, baseline characteristics were comparable between the OW and nonOW groups for the laparoscopy and open groups. In the laparoscopy group, operative time was longer(P = 0.01) in the OW group, however, other perioperative results including complication rates were comparable between the non-OW and OW groups. In the open group, number of retrieved lymph nodes were less(P = 0.03) and local complication rate was more frequent(P = 0.03) in the OW group. CONCLUSION LTG in OW patients remains technically challenging but can be performed safely. Our findings imply that OW has a lesser effect on the laparoscopic versus open approach to total gastrectomy.

A Framework to Regionalize Flow Information in a Catchment with Limited Hydrological Data

This paper describes a framework for mapping flow information from a single gauge to the 9-ungauged river basins with distinct attributes. To establish the basic watershed characteristics at the gauged site, a hydrologic model was calibrated and validated against the historical continuous discharge dataset. The framework was then applied to account for the two watersheds’ proportionality in their similarity, such as the influence of land use on transplanting flow signatures to the ungauged site. Three land-use scenarios-discharges at the ungauged and gauged sites formed the basis of an equation mapping the gauged discharge signal to the ungauged site. In comparison with intermittent observed data, the framework prediction attained a precision of 0.85 ≥ NSE ≤ 0.95, 0.80 ≥ R2 ≤ 0.94, 0.56 ≥ bR2 ≤ 0.89. Despite considerable differences in the watershed area, slope, soils, and land cover, the framework satisfactorily depicted the variation in flow pulses at each of the 9 ungauged discharge sites. In the absence of sufficient hydrological information, for example, the presence of a single gauge, the framework provides an alternative method to estimate flow at ungauged sites, reducing uncertainties in the regionalization of model parameters.
