Compressed air energy storage is an energy storage technology with strong potential to play a significant role in balancing energy on transmission networks,owing to its use of mature technologies and low cost per unit of storage *** compressed air energy storage(A-CAES)systems typically compress air from ambient temperature in the charge phase and expand the air back to ambient temperature in the discharge *** papers explores the use of an innovative operating scheme for an A-CAES system aimed at lowering the total cost of the system for a given exergy storage *** configuration proposed considers preheating of the air before compression which increases the fraction of the total exergy that is stored in the fom of high-grade heat in comparison to existing designs in which the main exergy storage medium is the compressed air *** a high fraction of the total exergy as heat allows reducing the capacity of costly pressure stores in the system and replacing it with cheaper thermal energy ***,a configuration that integrates a system based on the aforementioned concept with solar thermal power or low-medium grade waste heat is introduced and thoroughly discussed.

Waste heat management holds great promise to create a sustainable and energy-efficient society as well as contributes to the alleviation of global *** and converting this waste heat in order to improve the efficiency is a major *** we report biomimetic nacre-like hydroxyl-functionalized boron nitride(BN)-polyimide(PI)nanocomposite membranes as efficient 2d in-plane heat conductor to dissipate and convert waste heat at high *** hierarchically layered nanostructured membrane with oriented BN nanosheets gives rise to a very large anisotropy in heat transport properties,with a high in-plane thermal conductivity(TC)of 51 Wm^(-1) K^(-1) at a temperature of~300 C,7314%higher than that of the pure *** membrane also exhibits superior thermal stability and fire resistance,enabling its workability in a hot *** addition to cooling conventional exothermic electronics,the large TC enables the membrane as a thin and 2d anisotropic heat sink to generate a large temperature gradient in a thermoelectric module(△T=23 ℃)through effective heat diffusion on the cold side under 220 C *** waste heat under high temperature is therefore efficiently harvested and converted to power electronics,thus saving more thermal energy by largely decreasing consumption.

目的研究黄花獐牙菜Swertia kingii根的化学成分。方法采用硅胶、Sephadex LH-20等柱色谱法进行分离纯化,并根据化合物理化性质和MS、NMR等波谱数据鉴定其化学结构。结果从黄花獐牙菜根部95%乙醇提取部位分离得到10个化合物,分别鉴定为去甲基雏菊叶龙胆酮(1)、β-谷甾醇(2)、1,3,7-三羟基酮(3)、当药醇苷(4)、1,3,7-三羟基-8-甲氧基酮(5)、1,5,8-三羟基-3-甲氧基酮(6)、1,3,7,8-四羟基酮-1-O-β-d-葡萄糖(7)、1,3,7,8-四羟基酮(8)、1-羟基-3,7,8-三甲氧基酮(9)和1,2,6,8-四羟基酮(10)。结论除化合物2外,其余化合物均为首次从该植物中分离得到。

BACKGROUNd: Healthcare professionals have a duty to maintain basic life support(BLS) skills. This study aims to evaluate medical students' factual knowledge of BLS and the training they ***: A cross-sectional, closed-response questionnaire was distributed to the fi rst-and fourth-year students studying at institutions in the United Kingdom. The paper questionnaire sought to quantify respondent's previous BLS training, factual knowledge of the BLS algorithm using five multiple choice questions(MCQs), and valuate their desire for further BLS training. Students received 1 point for each correctly identifi ed answer to the 5 MCQ'***: A total of 3,732 complete responses were received from 21 medical schools. Eighty percent(n=2,999) of students completed a BLS course as part of their undergraduate medical studies. There was a signifi cant difference(Pdents selecting the correct answer in all the MCQ's compared to the fi rst-year students except in identifyingthe correct depth of compressions required during CPR(P=0.095). Overall 10.3%(95% CI 9.9% to 10.7%) of respondents correctly identified the answer to 5 MCQ's on BLS: 9% of the first-year students(n=194) and 12% of the fourth-year students(n=190). On an institutional level the proportion of students answering all MCQ's correctly ranged from 2% to 54% at different universities. Eighty-one percent of students(n=3,031) wished for more BLS training in their ***: Factual knowledge of BLS is poor among medical students in the UK. There is a disparity in standards of knowledge across institutions and respondents indicating that they would like more training.

In the genus Quercus, regeneration by seed is reduced or absent in many species. The naturally protected area of the Sierra Fria, in Aguascalientes, Mexico contains forests that are fragmented and have been degraded due to human activities. The oak populations in this region demonstrate a very restricted sexual regeneration, with five of the most abundant species of this genus: Quercuseduardii, Q. grisea, Q. potosina, Q. resinosa and Q. sideroxyla presenting low seedling recruitment. In this study we evaluated seed viability and the effect of seed size on the germination, growth and survival of the trees, with the aim of recommending restoration and conservation program management actions for these oak species. In 2005 and 2006, 5000 acorns of each species were collected and viability, germination and growth experiments were performed in the laboratory and greenhouse. The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard Model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.
