The aim of the present investigation was to study the major chromosomal aberrations （CA） lik. deletion, translocation, inversion and mosaic in prostate cancer patients of Tamilnadu, Southern India. Totally 45 blood samples were collected from various hospitals in Tamilnadu, Southern India. Equal numbers of normal healthy subjects were chosen after signing a consent form. Volunteers provided blood samples （5 ml） to establish leuk.cyte cultures. Cytogenetic studies were performed by using Giemsaanding technique and finally the results were ensured by spectral k.ryotyping （Sk.） technique. In the present investigation, major CA lik. deletion, translocation, inversion and mosaic were identifed in experimental subjects. Results showed frequent CA in chromosomes 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 13, 16, 18 and X. In comparison with experimental subjects, the control subjects exhibited very low levels of major CA （P〈0.05）. In the present study, the high frequency of centromeric rearrangements indicates a potential role for mitotic irregularities associated with the centromere in prostate cancer tumorigenesis. Identification of chromosome alterations may be helpful in understanding the molecular basis of the disease in better manner.

This paper presents the simulation and implementation of a reconfigurable pixel that serves both data acquisition and energy harvesting *** main topic focuses on switching between the two operating modes of the photodiode:photoconductive and photovoltaic *** proposed model can be used to design novel optical sensors with energy harvesting capability,such as position sensitive device(PSD)and complementary metal oxide semiconductor(CMOS)image sensors,which can extend the battery lifetime of the whole optical ***,we can overcome power supply problems lik. wiring and changing batteries frequently,especially in hard-to-reach places lik. space(cube satellites)or even underwater wireless optical communication(UWOC).The proposed pixel architecture offers the advantage of a minimalistic design with only four ***,it does come with a drawback.in the form of higher noise *** simulation was achieved using MATLAB,and the implementation was performed using the programmable system-on-chip(PSoC)*** results showed that the functionality of the dual-function pixel is correct,and the scheduling of both energy harvesting and signal sensing functions was successfully achieved.

This paper presents a review of the position-sensitive detector(PSD) sensor, covering different types of PSD and recent work. related to this field. Furthermore, it explains the theoretical concepts and provides information about its structure and principles of operation. Moreover, it includes the main information about the available commercial PSDs from different companies, along with a comparison between the common modules. The PSD features include high position resolution, fast response, and a wide dynamic range. These features mak. it suitable for various fields and applications, such as imaging, spectrometry, spectroscopy and others.

Chronic pancreatitis (CP) is a progressive inflammatory disorder of the pancreas. It is predominantly idiopathic (with an unk.own cause) in India and mostly due to alcohol in the West. Diabetes that occur secondary to chronic pancreatitis (T3c Diabetes) is often brittle, and is difficult to attain normoglycemia with conventional treatment requiring multiple doses of insulin. Mild and severe model of CP was induced in mice by repeated intraperitoneal injections of cerulein and L-arginine respectively with an intent to study islet dysfunction and develop therapeutic strategy in animal models of CP. Dietary intervention of epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) was tested in both the models of CP for its beneficial effects on insulin secretory functions. Pancreata collected upon euthanasia were used to study alterations in the morphology of pancreatic parenchyma and inflammation by staining with H&E and fibrotic changes by Masson’s trichrome and picrosirius staining. Insulin secretory functions of islets were evaluated to test the efficacy of the dietary intervention on β-cell functions. Intraperitoneal glucose tolerance test was performed to monitor the glucose homeostasis before and after the dietary intervention. Both the models resulted in CP with dispersed acini, inflammation and fibrosis. The loss of acini and extent of fibrosis was more in L-arginine model. 2-fold improvement in glucose-stimulated insulin secretory functions of islets was observed with 0.5% EGCG dietary intervention in cerulein model of CP and 1.6-fold in L-arginine model of CP. A further improvement in insulin secretion by 3.2-fold was observed with additional dietary supplements lik. N-acetyl cysteine, curcumin in combination with EGCG. Our results thus demonstrate and highlight the therapeutic potential of dietary green tea (EGCG) supplementation in reversing islet dysfunction and improving glucose homeostasis in experimental chronic pancreatitis in mice.

Isolation and identification of MDR-Mycobacterium tuberculosis and screening of partially characterised antimycobacterial compounds from chosen marine micro algae

Objective:To isolate the multiple drug resistance(MDR) Mycobacterium tuberculosis(M. tuberculosis) and to screen for the bioactive compounds extracted from marine microalgae. Methods:Sixty seven collected samples that were confirmed by 16S rDNA analysis as positive with *** infection were subjected to sensitivity test against commercially used front line and second line drugs by absolute concentration method using LJ *** bacterial isolates numbered I-78,I-101,I-127,I-173,I-202,I-262,I-327 showed resistant for more than 3 drugs were considered as MDR *** the percentage of 10.4 were recorded MDR-TB. Fifteen marine micro algal extracts were screened for antimycobacterial activity and partial characterization of the active principles was ***:The percentage contribution of marine micro algal species on the extraction of antimycobacterials indicated Isochrysis galbana(I. galbana) contain rich bioactive compounds and accounted for 60%inhibition of the total isolates. The percentage contribution of solvents on the extraction of antimicrobials from *** showed that the methanol,chloroform,n-Butanol showed maximum of *** purified eluted compounds(R,0.43) from TLC plate were chromatographed by gas *** eluted sterol compounds showed 13 unsaturated sterols with 3 major ***:The present study indicates the presence of unsaturated fatty acids may have the effect on MDR M. tuberculosis,indicating a potential natural alternative to antibiotics.

The discovery of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) unraveled a mystery in stem cell research, after identification of four re-programming factors for generating pluripotent stem cells without the need of embryos. This break.hrough in generating iPSCs from somatic cells has overcome the ethical issues and immune rejection involved in the use of human embryonic stem cells. Hence, iPSCs form a great potential source for developing disease models, drug toxicity screening and cell-based therapies. These cells have the potential to differentiate into desired cell types, including hepatocytes, under in vitro as well as under in vivo conditions given the proper microenvironment. iPSC-derived hepatocytes could be useful as an unlimited source, which can be utilized in disease modeling, drug toxicity testing and producing autologous cell therapies that would avoid immune rejection and enable correction of gene defects prior to cell transplantation. In this review, we discuss the induction methods, role of reprogramming factors, and characterization of iPSCs, along with hepatocyte differentiation from iPSCs and potential applications. Further, we discuss the location and detection of liver stem cells and their role in liver regeneration. Although tumor formation and genetic mutations are a cause of concern, iPSCs still form a promising source for clinical applications.
