Revealing and predicting the long-term biomechanical response of orthokeratology by developing a patient-specific computational model

Orthokeratology(OK) is widely used for effective myopia correction and control. However, the incomplete understanding of its biomechanical mechanisms makes OK lens fitting rely heavily on clinician judgment, complicating accurate predictions of treatment outcomes. In this paper, we performed clinical experiments and numerical analysis to study corneal deformation modes and long-term changes in central corneal thickness. Clinical experiments were conducted on 194 Chinese myopic patients under OK treatment for 3 months. Based on the experimental data, a patient-specific computational biomechanical model for OK was established and validated. specifically, the anisotropic mechanical properties of the cornea were incorporated into the model to describe the significant difference between its shear modulus(29.5 kPa) and tensile modulus(768.4 kPa). Additionally, a viscohyperelastic material model with a prolonged corneal relaxation time of 5.6 h was developed to capture the long-term deformation response. The results show that corneal thickness reduction in OK is primarily due to out-of-plane shear deformation,influenced by the cornea's low shear resistance. Modeling the extended corneal relaxation time is crucial for predicting long-term biomechanical responses. The computational model effectively captures long-term changes in central corneal thickness, potentially improving OK lens fitting accuracy.

Wave effect of gravitational waves intersected with a microlens field Ⅱ:An adaptive hierarchical tree algorithm and population study

The gravitational lensing wave effect generated by a microlensing field embedded in a lens galaxy is an inevitable phenomenon in strong lensed gravitational waves （sLGWs）.This effect presents both challenges and opportunities for the detection and application of ***,investigating this wave effect requires computing a complete diffraction integral over each microlens in the *** is extremely time-consuming due to the large number of microlenses （10～3-10～6）.Therefore,simply adding all the microlenses is ***,the complexity of the time delay surface makes the lens plane resolution a crucial factor in controlling numerical *** this paper,we propose a trapezoid approximation-based adaptive hierarchical tree algorithm to meet the challenges of calculation speed and *** find that this algorithm accelerates the calculation by four orders of magnitude compared to the simple adding method and is one order of magnitude faster than the fixed hierarchical tree algorithm proposed for electromagnetic *** importantly,our algorithm ensures controllable numerical errors,increasing confidence in the *** with our previous work （***.66,239511,2023）,this paper addresses all numerical issues,including integral convergence,precision,and computational time1).Finally,we conducted a population study on the microlensing wave effect of sLGWs using this algorithm and found that the microlensing wave effect cannot be ignored,especially for Type II sLGWs （from saddle position of the time delay surface） due to their intrinsic geometric structures and their typical intersection with a denser microlensing ***,more than 33%（11%） of sLGWs have a mismatch larger than 1%（3%） compared to the unlensed ***,we found that the mismatch between signal pairs in a doubly imaged GW is generally larger than 10-3,and 61%（25%） of signal pairs have a mismatch larger than 1%（3%）.Therefo

van der Waals(vdW)heterostructures constructed by lowdimensional(0D,1D,and 2D)materials are emerging as one of the most appealing systems in next-generation flexible ***,hand-stacked vdW-type photodetectors are not compatible with large-areaarray fabrication and show unimpressive performance in self-powered ***,vertical 1D GaN nanorods arrays(NRAs)/2D Mos_(2)/PEDOT:Pss in wafer scale have been proposed for self-powered flexible photodetectors arrays *** as-integrated device without external bias under weak UV illumination exhibits a competitive responsivity of 1.47 A W^(−1)and a high detectivity of 1.2×10^(11)Jones,as well as a fast response speed of 54/71μs,thanks to the strong light absorption of GaN NRAs and the efficient photogenerated carrier separation in type-II ***,the strain-tunable photodetection performances of device have been ***,the device at−0.78%strain and zero bias reveals a significantly enhanced photoresponse with a responsivity of 2.47 A W^(−1),a detectivity of 2.6×10^(11)Jones,and response times of 40/45μs,which are superior to the state-of-the-art self-powered flexible *** work presents a valuable avenue to prepare tunable vdWs heterostructures for self-powered flexible photodetection,which performs well in flexible sensors.

A novel friction stir diffusion bonding process using convex-vortex pin tools

In this work,a novel friction stir diffusion bonding(FsDB)method was proposed to eliminate hook when joining thin *** tools,with several convex-vortex pins were innovatively designed to improve the diffusion bonding effect of the lap *** showed that sound joints,excellently bonded at the lap interface and without hook,were *** lap interfaces on the joints welded using the T-tool and F-tool almost remained intact,thereby indicating that they were formed by diffusion *** material flow behavior was also simulated by FLUENT software and the results showed that the material flow along thickness was significantly enhanced by increasing the pin *** joint welded by the T-tool showed shear fracture *** bonding was formed at the lap interface when using the F-tool and thus the joint showed tensile fracture.

Dramatical enhancement of circular dichroism in chiral hybrid perovskites via carboxylic hydrogen bond engineering

Chiral hybrid perovskites （CHPs） have been regarded as promising candidates for developing chiroptoelectronics ***,circular dichroism （CD）,as one of the most important characteristics to evaluate the chiroptical activity,remains at a comparatively low level in CHPs compared to other chiral materials,which hinders the successful applications of CHPs in stateof-the-art ***,exploring new methods for enhancing CD in CHPs is urgently needed and remains ***,enhanced CD response has been successfully realized via constructing carboxylic hydrogen bonding in chiralachiral mixed cations perovskites （R/s-PPA）2（ABA）PbBr5（2R/2s）(PPA=1-phenylpropylamine,ABA=4-aminobutyric acid).Compared with the prototype （R/s-PPA）PbBr3（1R/1s）,2R/2s provide intimate connections between organic units and inorganic parts via carboxylic hydrogen bonding N–H···O bridge,contributing new chirality transfer paths.A larger inorganic skeletons’helicity in 2R/2s predicts a high degree of chirality ***,2R/2s exhibit significantly enhanced CD response with an anisotropy factor amplified by an order of ***,bright blue circularly polarized luminescence applications are achieved in 2R/*** work systematically investigates the correlation between CD and hydrogen bonding interaction in CHPs,meanwhile providing a new avenue to develop the application potential of chiral materials in chiroptoelectronics.

Morphological Mechanism and Experimental Verification of self-healing of Basalt-fiber Modified Water-soaked Asphalt

This study investigates the mechanism of action of representative molecules of basalt fibers on the healing of water-soaked *** parameters,morphological characteristics,interfacial healing energy,and interfacial healing strength were analyzed using molecular dynamics and macroscopic tests under different time,temperature,and water conditions to evaluate the specific states and critical conditions involved in *** results indicate that basalt-fiber molecules can induce rearrangement and a combination of water-soaked asphalt at the healing *** groups with different bonding states increase the interfacial adsorption capacity of water-soaked *** interaction between basalt fiber molecules and water molecules leads to a"hoop"phenomenon,while aromatics-2 molecules exhibit a"ring band aggregation"*** former reduces the miscibility of water and asphalt molecules,while the latter causes slow diffusion of the ***,a micro-macro dual-scale comparison of interfacial healing strength was conducted at temperatures of 297.15 and 312.15 K to identify the strength transition point and critical temperature of 299.4 K during the self-healing process of basalt-fiber modified water-soaked asphalt.

Palladium installed copper-organic framework for C–C coupling reactions

The formation of C–C bonds is a crucial aspect of organic synthesis. synthesists' long-term objective is to identify novel catalysts to optimize reaction systems based on traditional transition metal catalysis. This study explores the synthesis and catalytic potential of palladium-installed covalent metal-organic frameworks(CMOFs) based on copper cyclic trinuclear units(Cu-CTUs). By incorporating palladium ions into the imine-based framework JNM-7 through a straightforward immersion method, we achieved a notable enhancement in catalytic activity for critical C–C coupling reactions, including C–H arylation and sonogashira cross-coupling. The resulting JNM-7-Pd demonstrated remarkable stability and recyclability, maintaining its efficiency over at least three cycles without any decline in efficiency.

Early identification of stroke through deep learning with multi-modal human speech and movement data

Early identification and treatment of stroke can greatly improve patient outcomes and quality of *** clinical tests such as the Cincinnati Pre-hospital stroke scale(CPss)and the Face Arm speech Test(FAsT)are commonly used for stroke screening,accurate administration is dependent on specialized *** this study,we proposed a novel multimodal deep learning approach,based on the FAsT,for assessing suspected stroke patients exhibiting symptoms such as limb weakness,facial paresis,and speech disorders in acute *** collected a dataset comprising videos and audio recordings of emergency room patients performing designated limb movements,facial expressions,and speech tests based on the *** compared the constructed deep learning model,which was designed to process multi-modal datasets,with six prior models that achieved good action classification performance,including the I3D,slowFast,X3D,TPN,Timesformer,and *** found that the findings of our deep learning model had a higher clinical value compared with the other ***,the multi-modal model outperformed its single-module variants,highlighting the benefit of utilizing multiple types of patient data,such as action videos and speech *** results indicate that a multi-modal deep learning model combined with the FAsT could greatly improve the accuracy and sensitivity of early stroke identification of stroke,thus providing a practical and powerful tool for assessing stroke patients in an emergency clinical setting.
