A novel 3D Gait Model for subject Identification Robust against Carrying and Dressing Variations

Uniaxial Compressive strength Prediction for Rock Material in Deep Mine Using Boosting-Based Machine Learning Methods and Optimization Algorithms

Traditional laboratory tests for measuring rock uniaxial compressive strength(UCs)are tedious and *** is a pressing need for more effective methods to determine rock UCs,especially in deep mining environments under high in-situ ***,this study aims to develop an advanced model for predicting the UCs of rockmaterial in deepmining environments by combining three boosting-basedmachine learning methods with four optimization *** this purpose,the Lead-Zinc mine in southwest China is considered as the case *** density,P-wave velocity,and point load strength index are used as input variables,and UCs is regarded as the ***,twelve hybrid predictive models are *** mean square error(RMsE),mean absolute error(MAE),coefficient of determination(R2),and the proportion of the mean absolute percentage error less than 20%(A-20)are selected as the evaluation *** results showed that the hybridmodel consisting of the extreme gradient boostingmethod and the artificial bee colony algorithm(XGBoost-ABC)achieved satisfactory results on the training dataset and exhibited the best generalization performance on the testing *** values of R2,A-20,RMsE,and MAE on the training dataset are 0.98,1.0,3.11 MPa,and 2.23MPa,*** highest values of R2 and A-20(0.93 and 0.96),and the smallest RMsE and MAE values of 4.78 MPa and 3.76MPa,are observed on the testing *** proposed hybrid model can be considered a reliable and effective method for predicting rock UCs in deep mines.

Role of climatic variability in shaping intraspecific variation of thermal tolerance in Mediterranean water beetles

The climatic variability hypothesis(CVH)predicts that organisms in more thermally variable environments have wider thermal breadths and higher thermal plasticity than those from more stable ***,due to evolutionary trade-offs,taxa with greater absolute thermal limits may have little plasticity of such limits(trade-off hypothesis).The CVH assumes that climatic variability is the ultimate driver of thermal tolerance variation across latitudinal and altitudinal gradients,but average temperature also varies along such *** explored intraspecific variation of thermal tolerance in three typical Mediterranean saline water beetles(families Hydrophilidae and Dytiscidae).For each species,we compared two populations where the species coexist,with similar annual mean temperature but contrasting thermal variability(continental *** population).We estimated thermal limits of adults from each population,previously acclimated at 17,20,or 25℃.We found species-specific patterns but overall,our results agree with the CVH regarding thermal ranges,which were wider in the continental(more variable)*** the two hydrophilid species,this came at the cost of losing plasticity of the upper thermal limit in this population,supporting the trade-off hypothesis,but not in the dytiscid *** results support the role of local adaptation to thermal variability and trade-offs between basal tolerance and physiological plasticity in shaping thermal tolerance in aquatic ectotherms,but also suggest that intraspecific variation of thermal tolerance does not fit a general pattern among aquatic *** such intraspecific variation could lead to inaccurate predictions of the vulnerability of aquatic insects to global warming.

Optimal stochastic scheduling strategy of Multi-vector Energy Complex Integrated with Full-blown Power-to-biomethane Model

We propose an optimal stochastic scheduling strategy for a multi-vector energy complex(MEC),considering a fullblown model of the power-to-biomethane(Pt M)*** conventional optimization that uses a simple efficiency coefficient to coarsely model energy conversion between electricity and biomethane,a detailed Pt M model is introduced to emphasize the reactor kinetics and chemical equilibria of *** model crystallizes the interactions between the Pt M process and MEC flexibility,allowing to adjust the operating condition of the methanation reactor for optimal MEC operation in stochastic *** optimization and flowsheet design of the Pt M process increase the average selectivity of methane(i.e.,ratio between net biomethane production and hydrogen consumption)up to 83.7%in the proposed synthesis *** results can provide information and predictions to operators about the optimal operating conditions of a Pt M unit while improving the MEC flexibility.

A subdivision-Based Combined shape and Topology Optimization in Acoustics

We propose a combined shape and topology optimization approach in this research for 3D acoustics by using the isogeometric boundary element method with subdivision *** existing structural optimization methods mainly contain shape and topology schemes,with the former changing the surface geometric profile of the structure and the latter changing thematerial distribution topology or hole topology of the *** the present acoustic performance optimization,the coordinates of the control points in the subdivision surfaces fine mesh are selected as the shape design parameters of the structure,the artificial density of the sound absorbing material covered on the structure surface is set as the topology design parameter,and the combined topology and shape optimization approach is established through the sound field analysis of the subdivision surfaces boundary element method as a *** topology and shape sensitivities of the approach are calculated using the adjoint variable method,which ensures the efficiency of the *** geometric jaggedness and material distribution discontinuities that appear in the optimization process are overcome to a certain degree by the multiresolution method and solid isotropic material with *** examples are given to validate the effectiveness of the presented optimization approach.

A spatial template is important to study nearby supernova remnants(snRs).For snR G332.5-5.6,we report a Gaussian disk with a radius of about 1°.06 to be a potential good spatial model in the γ-ray *** this new Gaussian disk,its GeV lightcurve shows a significant variability of about seven *** γ-ray observations of this snR could be explained well either by a leptonic model or a hadronic model,in which a flat spectrum for the ejected electrons/protons is required.

Beamforming design for covert broadcast communication with hidden adversary

This paper explores covert broadcast communication in a challenging situation in which the transmitter, Alice, faces uncertainty regarding the position of the passive adversary, Willie. In this situation,controlling the signal exposure becomes difficult. specifically, this paper focuses on the cases where Alice can delimit the suspicious areas where Willie may be located. The suspicious areas can have arbitrary number and shapes. Under the Rician fading model, the analytical expression of Willie's detection performance is derived. Then, the transmit power, the beamforming direction, and the number of channel uses are jointly designed to minimize the optimal Willie's detection performance among all the possible positions of Willie, on the premise of satisfying receivers' quality-of-service requirements. To tackle the formulated knotty problem with an infinite number of irregular and discontinuous Willie's possible positions, the continuous nature of the antenna pattern is exploited to convert the original problem into the one with a finite number of possible positions, by sampling the suspicious areas. Then, different algorithms are developed to address the resultant non-convex optimization problem for single-antenna Willie and multi-antenna Willie, respectively. numerical results demonstrate significant performance gains of the proposed scheme over the widely-adopted maximum ratio transmission scheme, which indicates that simply adjusting the main lobe towards the receiver is indeed far away from optimum and shows the importance of leveraging Alice's limited knowledge of Willie's position.

Combined UAMP and MF Message Passing Algorithm for Multi-Target Wideband DOA Estimation with Dirichlet Process Prior

When estimating the direction of arrival (DOA) of wideband signals from multiple sources, the performance of sparse Bayesian methods is influenced by the frequency bands occupied by signals in different directions. This is particularly true when multiple signal frequency bands overlap. Message passing algorithms (MPA) with Dirichlet process (DP) prior can be employed in a sparse Bayesian learning (sBL) framework with high precision. However, existing methods suffer from either high complexity or low precision. To address this, we propose a low-complexity DOA estimation algorithm based on a factor graph. This approach introduces two strong constraints via a stretching transformation of the factor graph. The first constraint separates the observation from the DP prior, enabling the application of the unitary approximate message passing (UAMP) algorithm for simplified inference and mitigation of divergence issues. The second constraint compensates for the deviation in estimation angle caused by the grid mismatch problem. Compared to state-of-the-art algorithms, our proposed method offers higher estimation accuracy and lower complexity.

Effects of site preparation methods on soil physical properties and outplanting success of coniferous seedlings in boreal forests

This study assessed the effect of patch scarification and mounding on the physical properties of the root layer and the success of tree planting in various types of *** study was conducted on 12 forest sites in taiga forests of the European part of Russia.A total of 54 plots were set up to assess seedling survival;root collar diameter,height,and heigh increment were measured for 240 seedlings to assess *** the rooting layer,240 soil samples were taken to determine physical *** study showed that soil treatment methods had no effect on bulk density and total porosity in Cladina ***,reduced soil moisture was noted,particularly in mounds,resulting in increased *** Myrtillus sites,there were increased bulk density,reduced soil moisture,and total porosity in the *** treatment in Polytrichum sites resulted in reduced soil moisture and increased aeration *** the Myrtillus and Polytrichum sites,patch scarification had no effects on physical *** Polytrichum sites,survival rates,heights,and heigh increments of bareroot norway spruce seedlings in mounds were higher than in patches;however,the same did not apply to *** Cladina and Myrtillus sites,there was no difference in growth for bareroot and containerised seedlings with different soil *** conditions and soil types should be considered when applying different soil treatment methods to ensure high survival rates and successful seedling growth.
