AIm To investigate the pathophysiology of the digestive tract in patients with liver *** In 42 cirrhotic patients and 20control subjects, the following fecal proteinswere measured by enzyme-linkedimmunosorb6nt assay: albumin (Alb ),transferrin (Tf), and al-antitrypsin (a,-AT) as amarker for intestinal protein l0ss, hemoglobin(hb) for bleeding, PmN-eIastase for intestinalinflammation, and secretory lgA for *** The fecaI concentrations of hb, Alb,Tf, al-AT, and PmN’eIastase were increased in13 (3l%), 8(19%), l0(24%), 6(14%), and 1l(26%) cases among 42 patients, resPectiveIy.F6cal concentration of secretory IgA wasdecreased in 7 (l7%) of 42 patients. however,these fecal concentrations were not related tothe severity or etiology of liver cirrhosis. Theserum Alb level was significantIy decreased inpatients with intestinal protein Ioss c0mpared tothat in patients without intestinal protein *** These findings suggest that: rob6sides the weIl’known pathological conditions,such as bleeding and protein loss, intestinaIinflammati0n and decreased intestinaI immunityare found in cirrhotic patients, @ intestinalprotein loss contributes to hypoalbuminemia incirrhotic patients, and @ intestinaI inflammationshouId not b6 0verlooked in cirrhotic patients,since it may contribute to or cause intestinalprotein Ioss and oth6r various pathologicalconditions.

We demonstrate an indoor 5 m free-space optical wireless coherent communication in mid L-band（1606.7 nm）by employing a tunable self-seeded InAs/InGaAlAs/InP quantum-dash（Qdash） laser as a subcarrier generator for 128 Gb/s dual-polarization quadrature phase shift keying（DP-QPsk） modulation signal. The bare Qdash laser diode displays ~6 nm self-locked Fabry-Perot mode tunability with ~30 dB side mode suppression ratio（smsR） and ~10 dBm mode power across the tuning range, thus encompassing ~10 modes with an achievable capacity of 1.28 Tb/s（10 × 128 Gb∕s） and potentially qualifying the source requirements for future access networks.

Plan asymmetric buildings are very susceptible to earthquake induced damage due to lateral torsional coupling, and the corners of these systems suffer heavy damage during earthquakes. Therefore, it is important to investigate the seismic behavior of an asymmetric plan building with mR dampers. In this study, the effectiveness of mR damper-based control systems has been investigated for seismic hazard mitigation of a plan asymmetric building. Furthermore, the infl uence of the building parameters and damper command voltage on the control performance is examined through parametric study. The building parameters chosen are eccentricity ratio and frequency ratio. The results show that the mR damper-based control systems are effective for plan asymmetric systems.

Pure tetragonal 10-20-nm-size zirconia-based Ni-P composite coating was developed. The physicochemical and electrochemical characteristics including corrosion resistance of the coating were investigated. The Ni-P-nano-tetragonal zirconia coating was partially crystalline having face-centered cubic phase. The coating had very high corrosion resistance due to its dense compact morphology and low surface roughness. The Ni-P-nano-tetragonal zirconia coatings exhibited a cathodic shift of open-circuit potential(OCP) in the range from-0.340 to-0.520 V. A high polarization resistance of the order of 13.2 kΩ/cm^2 and low corrosion current density of 3.9 μA/cm^2 were achieved due to the effective incorporation of zirconia into the coating.

small high-quality Au/P-si schottky barrier diodes（sBDs） with an extremely low reverse leakage current using wet lithography were *** effective barrier heights（Bhs） and ideality factors from current-voltage （Ⅰ-Ⅴ） characteristics were measured by a conducting probe atomic force microscope（C-AFm）.In spite of the identical preparation of the diodes there was a diode-to-diode variation in ideality factor and barrier height *** extrapolating the plots the built in potential of the Au /p-si contact was obtained as V_（bi）=0.5425 V and the barrier height valueΦ_（b（c-V）） was calculated to beΦ_（B（C-V））=0.7145 V for Au/*** is found that for the diodes with diameters smaller than 100μm,the diode barrier height and ideality factor dependency to their diameters and correlation between the diode barrier height and its ideality factor are nonlinear,where similar to the earlier reported different metal semiconductor diodes in the literature,these parameters for the here manufactured diodes with diameters more than 100μm are also *** on the very obvious sub-nanometer C-AFm produced pictures the scientific evidence behind this controversy is also explained.

We demonstrate an efficient fiber laser operating at 1901.6 nm using a newly developed thulium bismuth co-doped fiber(TBF)with dual pumping at 792 nm and 1552 *** fiber was fabricated using modified chemical vapor deposition and solution doping *** dopant concentrations(wt%)and compositions inside the core are 0.15 Bi_(2)O_(3),0.3 Tm_(2)O_(3),1.0 Al_(2)O_(3) and 12.0 GeO_(2).The TBF laser operates at 1901.6 nm with a lasing efficiency of 33.2%and pump power threshold of 85 mW using a 2-m-long TBF in a linear cavity with two fiber Bragg gratings(FBGs).The high efficiency is attributed to the use of additional 1552 nm pump to complement 792 nm *** maximum output power of 225 mW is achieved at the pump power of 820 mW with the optimum length of 2 m.

By using a mean-field approximation which describes the coupled oscillations of condensate and noncondensate atoms in the collisionless regime, Landau damping in a dilute dipolar Bose-Fermi mixture in the BEC limit where Fermi superfluid is treated as tightly bounded molecules, is investigated. In the case of a uniform quasi-two-dimensional （2D） case, the results for the Landau damping due to the Bose-Fermi interaction are obtained at low and high temperatures. It is shown that at low temperatures, the Landau damping rate is exponentially suppressed. By increasing the strength of dipolar interaction, and the energy of boson quasiparticles, Landau damping is suppressed over a broader temperature range.

In order to make sufficient use of reactive cylindrical magnetron plasma for depositing compound thin films, it is necessary to characterize the hysteresis behavior of the discharge. Cylindrical magnetron plasmas with different targets namely titanium and aluminium are studied in an argon/oxygen and an argon/nitrogen gas environment respectively. The aluminium and titanium emission lines are observed at different flows of reactive gases. The emission intensity is found to decrease with the increase of the reactive gas flow rate. The hysteresis behavior of reactive cylindrical magnetron plasma is studied by determining the variation of discharge voltage with increasing and then reducing the flow rate of reactive gas,while keeping the discharge current constant at 100 m A. Distinct hysteresis is found to be formed for the aluminium target and reactive gas oxygen. For aluminium/nitrogen, titanium/oxygen and titanium/nitrogen, there is also an indication of the formation of hysteresis; however, the characteristics of variation from metallic to reactive mode are different in different cases. The hysteresis behaviors are different for aluminium and titanium targets with the oxygen and nitrogen reactive gases, signifying the difference in reactivity between them. The effects of the argon flow rate and magnetic field on the hysteresis are studied and explained.
