This research was aimed to study the effect winding orientation on the crashworthiness performance of hybrid *** specimens tested under quasi-static compression load involve of three winding parameters(q?30,45and 70)of hybrid kenaf/glass fiber reinforced epoxy and glass fiber reinforced epoxy as contrast *** automated filament winding technique has been used in fabrication of hybrid and non-hybrid composite tube and crashworthiness performance was investigated *** effects of winding orientation on energy absorption capabilities and crashworthiness characteristic were investigated through quasi-static compression load and the result are compared with the glass fiber composite tube to justify the capability of hybrid natural/synthetic as energy absorption *** s.m.les proved to enhancing the progressive crushing capability as combination of local buckling,delaminate and brittle fracturing as progressive crushing *** the view of winding orientation aspect,the results of high winding orientation of hybrid composite tube elevated the crush load efficiency,specific energy absorption and energy absorption capability compared to glass composite tube(GFRP).The hybrid kenaf/glass composite tube with high winding orientation showed the best winding orientation to enhance the energy absorber characteristics as energy absorption application.

Determination of Particle sizes and Crystalline Phases on Colloidal silicon Nanoparticle suspensions

Particle size and crystallinity of silicon nanoparticles were determined by analyzing the optical extinction spectra of colloidal suspensions. Experimental results from these colloids were anaiyzed using mie theory in connection with effective medium theory, in order to determine particle sizes and their internal structure with the s.m.le technique of optical transmission spectroscopy. By modeling an effective refractive index for the particles, the crystalline volume fraction can be extracted from extinction spectra in addition to information about the size. The crystalline volume fraction determined in this way were used to calibrate the ratio of the Raman cross sections for nanocrystalline and amorphous silicon, which was found to be σc./σa = 0.66

In-situ Observation of Fluid mud in the North Passage of Yangtze Estuary, China

Observations of fluid mud were made in the lower North Passage of the Yangtze Estuary in February 2000, on 10～11 August 2000, on 30～31 August 2000 (after two strong typhoons), on 21～24 August 2000 (neap tide) and on 3～6 september 2000 (mean tide) respectively. In situ data show that the fluid mud in this area consists of fine cohesive sediment (median size 7.23 μm). The formation and movement of fluid mud varied during the neap-spring and flood-ebb tidal cycle. Observations suggest that fluid mud phenomena in this area may be categorised in a three-fold manner as slack water, storm and saltwedge features. The thickness of the fluid mud layer of slack water during the neap tide ranged from 0.2 to 0.96 m, whereas during the mean tide, the thickness ranged from 0.17 to 0.73 m, and the thickness of the fluid mud layer was larger during slack water than at the flood peak. shoals cover an area of 800 km2 with a water depth smaller than 5 m. Erosion of these extensive intertidal mudflats due to storm action provides an abundant sediment source. This is particularly significant in this estuary when the tidal level is lower than 5 m. The lower North Passage is a typical zone of saltwater wedging, so the saltwedge fluid mud has the most extensive spatial range in the estuary.

In the steam thermal cracking of naphtha,the hydrocarbon stream flows inside tubular reactors and is exposed to flames of a series of burners in the *** this paper,a full three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics(CFD)model was developed to investigate the process variables in the firebox and reactor coil of an industrial naphtha *** comprehensive CFD model consists of a standard k-εturbulence model accompanied by a molecular kinetic reaction for cracking,detailed combustion model,and radiative *** order to improve the steam cracking performance,the model is solved using a proposed iterative *** respect to temperature,product yield and specially propylene-toethylene ratio(P/E),the s.m.lation results agreed well with industrial data obtained from a mega olefin plant of a petrochemical *** deviation of P/E results from industrial data was less than 2%.The obtained velocity,temperature,and concentration profiles were used to investigate the residence time,coking rate,coke concentration,and s.m. other *** coke concentration at coil exit was1.9×10^(-3)%(mass)and the residence time is calculated to be 0.29 *** results can be used as a scientific guide for process engineers.

Trunk volume estimation of irregular shaped Populus euphratica riparian forest using TLs point cloud data and multivariate prediction models

Background: Trunk volume(Vt) is an essential parameter for estimating forest stand volume, biomass, and carbon sequestration potential. As the dominant tree species in desert riparian forests, Euphrates poplar(Populus euphratica) has a high proportion of irregularly shaped tree trunks along the Tarim River, NW China, where the habitat is very fragile owing to long-term water stress. This causes uncertainty in estimation accuracy as well as technical challenges for forest surveys. Our study aimed to acquire P. euphratica Vtusing terrestrial laser scanning(TLs) and to establish a species-specific Vtprediction ***: A total of 240 individual trees were measured by TLs.m.ltiple-station in 12 s.m.ling plots in three sections along the lower reaches of the Tarim River. Vtwas calculated by a definite integration method using trunk diameters(Di) at every 0.1-m tree height obtained from TLs, and all data were split randomly into two sets:70% of data were used to estimate the model parameter calibration, and the remaining 30% were used for model validation. sixteen widely used candidate tree Vtestimation models were fitted to the TLs.m.asured Vtand tree structural parameter data, including tree height(H), diameter at breast height(DBH), and basal diameter(BD). All model performances were evaluated and compared by the statistical parameters of determination coefficient(R^(2)),root mean square error(RmsE), Bayesian information criterion(BIC), mean prediction error(mE), mean absolute error(mAE), and modeling efficiency(EF), and accordingly the best model was ***: TLs point cloud reflection intensity(RI) has advantageous in the extraction of data from irregular tree trunk structures. Transport mechanism in chemically reactive hybrid nanofluid flow containing gyrotactic micro-organisms over a curved oscillatory surface

This paper examines the transport analysis, including both heat transfer and mass transfer, in hybrid nanofluid flow containing gyrotactic microorganisms towards a curved oscillatory surface. The influence of magnetic fields is also inspected in terms of their physical characteristics. To depict the phenomena of transport, modified versions of both Fick's and Fourier's laws are used. Additionally, the characteristics of both heterogeneous and homogeneous chemical reactions are also incorporated. Utilizing a curvilinear coordinate system, the flow problem is formulated as partial differential equations(PDEs)for momentum, concentration, microorganism field, and energy. An analytical solution to the obtained flow equations is achieved utilizing the homotopy analysis.m.thod(HAm).The effects of significant flow parameters on the pressure and microorganism fields, velocity, oscillation velocity, concentration, and temperature distributions are shown via graphs. Furthermore, the variations in skin friction, mass transfer rate, heat transfer rate, and local motile number due to different involved parameters are presented in tables and are analyzed in detail. Graphical results indicate that the curves of velocity and temperature fields are enhanced as the values of the solid volume fraction variables *** is also verified that the concentration rate field decreases as the values of the homogeneous reaction strength parameter and the radius of curvature parameter increase, and it increases with the schmidt number and the heterogeneous reaction strength *** outcomes show a favorable response of the motile number to advanced values of the Peclet number, the schmidt number, the microorganism difference parameter, and the bio-convective Lewis number.

Delivery routes for probiotics: Effects on broiler performance,intestinal morphology and gut microflora

Four delivery routes, via, feed, water, litter and oral gavage, were examined for their efficacy in delivering a novel probiotic of poultry origin, Lactobacillus johnsonii, to broilers. seven treatments of 6 replicates each were allocated using 336 one-day-old Cobb broiler chicks. The treatments consisted of a basal diet with the probiotic candidate, L. johnsonii, added to the feed, and three treatments with L. johnsonii added to the drinking water, sprayed on the litter, or gavaged orally. In addition, a positive control treatment received the basal diet supplemented with zinc-bacitracin(Zn B, 50 mg/kg). The probiotic strain of *** was detected in the ileum of the chicks for all four delivery routes. However, the addition of *** as a probiotic candidate did not improve body weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion ratio of broiler chickens raised on litter during the 5-week experimental period regardless of the route of administration. The probiotic treatments, regardless of the routes of delivery, affected(P sta and tended(P = 0.06) to affect the p H of the ileal digesta on d 7, but the effect disappeared as the birds grew older. All probiotic treatments reduced the number of Enterobacteria in the caeca on d 21, and tended(P m and caeca on d 7 and in the ileum on d 21 compared with the controls. The probiotic also tended to increase the number of lactic acid bacteria and lactobacilli in the ileum and caeca on d 7, but this trend was not evident on d 21. The trend appeared most pronounced when the probiotic was delivered orally or via litter. The probiotic also decreased(P stridium perfringens rapidly from an early age to d 21 in the caeca, leading to a3-fold decrease in the number of C. perfringens between d 7 and 21. BACKGROUND Congenitally corrected levo-transposition of the great arteries(L-TGA)is a congenital heart disease in which the ventricles and great arteries are transposed from their typical *** L-TGA,the double discordance,atrioventricular and ventriculoarterial,create an acyanotic milieu which allows patients to survive their early decades,however,progressive systemic right ventricle(sRV)dys-function creates complications later in *** dysfunction and remodeling predisposes patients to intracardiac thrombus(ICT)*** s.m.ARY A 40-year-old male with L-TGA presented with s.m.toms of acute decom-pensated heart *** childhood,he had surgical repair of a ventricular septal *** adulthood,he developed sRV dysfunction,systemic tricuspid valve(sTV)regurgitation,and left-bundle branch block for which he underwent cardiac resynchronization *** echocardiogram showed a sRV ejection fraction of 40%,severe sTV regurgitation,and a newly identified sRV *** was confirmed by ultrasound-enhancing agents and transesophageal *** patient was optimized with guideline-directed medical therapy and *** was achieved with a vitamin K antagonist(VKA)and he was later referred for evaluation by advanced heart failure and heart transplant *** Anticoagulation with VKA is the mainstay of treatment in the absence of conclusive data supporting direct oral anticoagulant use in ICT in patients with congenital heart *** case illustrates the natural history of L-TGA and highlights the importance of surveillance and monitoring with dedicated cardiac imaging to identify complications.
