Research on coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical dynamic response characteristics of saturated porous deep-sea sediments under vibration of mining vehicle

The excessive deformation of deep-sea sediments caused by the vibration of the mining machine will adversely affect the efficiency and safety of *** with the deep-sea environment,the coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical problem for saturated porous deep-sea sediments subject to the vibration of the mining vehicle is *** on the Green-lindsay(G-l)generalized thermoelastic theory and Darcy’s law,the model of thermo-hydro-mechanical dynamic responses for saturated porous deep-sea sediments under the vibration of the mining vehicle is *** obtain the analytical solutions of non-dimensional vertical displacement,excess pore water pressure,vertical stress,temperature,and change in the volume fraction field with the normal mode analysis method,and depict them *** normal mode analysis method uses the canonical coordinate transformation to solve the equation,which can quickly decouple the equation by ignoring the modal coupling effect on the basis of the canonical *** results indicate that the vibration frequency has obvious influence on the vertical displacement,excess pore water pressure,vertical stress,and change in volume fraction *** loading amplitude has a great effect on the physical quantities in the foundation,and the changes of the physical quantities increase with the increase in loading amplitude.

The purpose of this paper is to present a shape preserving topology optimization method to prevent the adverse effects of the mechanical deformation on the Radar Cross section(RCs).The optimization will suppress the variation of RCs on the perfect conductor surface by structural *** the one hand,the physical optics method is utilized to calculate the structural RCs,which is based on the surface displacement field obtained from the finite element analysis of the *** corresponding design sensitivities of topology optimization are derived analytically and solved by the adjoint *** the other hand,the RCs variation and mechanical performance are taken into account simultaneously by extending a standard compliance-based topology optimization *** optimization formulations are discussed in an illustrative example,where the influences of upper limits of the compliance and the RCs variation are *** more examples are further tested to show the ability and validity of the proposed optimization method.

Application of machine learning to process simulation of n-pentane cracking to produce ethylene and propene

Modeling light olefin production was one of the main concerns in chemical engineering *** this paper,machine learning model based on artificial neural networks(ANN)was established to describe the effects of temperature and catalyst on ethylene and propene formation in n-pentane *** establishment procedure included data pretreatment,model design,training process and testing process,and the mean square error(MsE)and regression coefficient(R2)indexes were employed to evaluate model *** was found that the learning algorithm and ANN topology affected the calculation ***24223,CGB2423,and lM24223 models were established by optimally matching the learning algorithm with ANN topology,and achieved excellent calculation ***,the stability of GD24223,CGB2423 and lM24223 models was investigated by gradually decreasing training data and simultaneously transforming data *** with GD24223 and lM24223 models,CGB2423 model was more stable against the variations of training data,and the MsE values were always maintained at the magnitude of 10^-3-10^-4,confirming its applicability for simulating light olefin production in n-pentane cracking.

Flotation separation of smithsonite from calcite is difficult due to their similar surface *** the present study,a reagent scheme of depressant calcium lignosulphonate(Cls) and collector benzyl hydroxamic acid(BHA) was introduced in the flotation of smithsonite from *** tests revealed that the efficient flotation of smithsonite from calcite could only be obtained with the addition order of BHA before Cls,which was opposite to the widely-used order that adding depressant prior to the *** zeta potential measurements indicated that BHA selectively adsorbed onto smithsonite surface,then not allowed the Cls adsorption onto the smithsonite surface rather than calcite surface because of the steric hindrance,thereby the smithsonite surface remained hydrophobic while calcite surface became more hydrophilic after the addition of *** a result,the calcite flotation was completely depressed while the smithsonite flotation recovery was still in high value,leading to the optimal flotation separation performance.

Photoproduction of J/ ψ in pp and PbPb Collisions at leading Order

The production of J/ψ originating from photoproduction processes in pp and PbPb collisions at leading order is *** use the color singlet and color octet mechanisms for heavy quarkonium production to deal with the direct photon processes,and consider fragmentation *** shadowing and iso-spin of the nucleus are also considered in our *** numerical results show that the modification of photoproduction processes for J/ψ production becomes obvious in the large pT region at lHC energy.

Pure iron is one of the difficult-to-machine materials due to its large chip deformation,adhesion,work-hardening,and built-up edges formation during *** leads to a large workpiece deformation and challenge to meet the required technical ***,under varying the grain size of pure iron,the influence of cutting speed,feed,and depth of cut on the cutting force,heat generation,and machining residual stresses were explored in the turning process to improve the machinability without compromising the mechanical properties of the *** experimental findings have depicted that the influence of grain size on cutting force in the precision turning process is not ***,the cutting temperature and residual stress of machining fine-grain iron were much smaller than the coarse grain at all levels of cutting parameters.

Magnetic shape memory alloys(MsMAs), both in condensed matter physics and in material science, are one of the most extensive research subjects. They show prompt response to the external magnetic field and give rise to large strain and have fine reversibility. The well-known example is Heusler-type MsMAs, which possess excellent multifunctional properties and have potential applications in energy transducer, actuator, sensor, microelectromechanical system, and magnetic refrigerator. In this paper, it is shown the recent progress in magnetostructural transformation, magnetic properties, shape deformation, magnetocaloric effect as well as magnetic field-induced shape memory effect in Ni–Mn–Ga, Ni Mn Z(Z = In, sn, sb),and Ni Co Mn Z(Z = In, sn, sb, Al) Heusler-type *** remaining issues and possible challenges are briefly discussed.

Ti-23Nb-0.7Ta-2Zr-O gum metal(GM)is an attractive candidate material for applications that require superior mechanical *** our earlier investigation of the GM[1],geometrical softening and the generation of adiabatic shear bands(AsBs)were proposed as primary reasons for the documented anisotropic impact *** the present study,electron backscattered diffraction(EBsD)analysis reveals two different deformed microstructures,i.e.,deformed ultrafine grains(UFGs)and dynamically recrystallized UFGs,formed in the AsBs of GM samples processed by extrusion equal channel angular pressing(ECAP),*** calculation of temperature rise during dynamic compression suggests that the above microstructure differences in the AsBs was originated from their different maximum AsB temperatures(608 K for extruded GM and 1159 K for ECAP-processed GM).Moreover,our calculation on the temperature at the onset of AsBs indicates that microstructural softening is the primary cause for the development of AsBs in both extruded GM(321 K)and ECAP-processed GM(331 K).

Effects of temperature and nutrients on phytoplankton biomass during bloom seasons in Taihu lake

long-term variations of phytoplankton chlorophyll-a （Chl-a）, nutrients, and suspended solids （ss） in Taihu lake, a large shallow freshwater lake in China, during algal bloom seasons from May to August were analyzed using the monthly investigated data from 1999 to 2007. The effective accumulated water temperature （EAWT） in months from March to June was calculated with daily monitoring data from the Taihu laboratory for lake Ecosystem Research （TllER）. The concentrations of Chl-a and nutrients significantly decreased from Meiliang Bay to Central lake. Annual averages of the total nitrogen （TN）, total phosphorus （TP）, and Chl-a concentrations, and EAWT generally increased in the nine years. In Meiliang Bay, the concentration of Chl-a was significantly correlated with EAWT, ammonia nitrogen （NH4＋N）, TN, the soluble reactive phosphorus （sRP）, TP, and ss. In Central lake, however, the concentration of Chl-a was only correlated with EAWT, TP, and ss. Multiple stepwise linear regression revealed that EAWT, dissolved total phosphorus （DTP）, and TP explained 99.2% of the variation of Chl-a in Meiliang Bay, and that EAWT, NH4＋-N, and TP explained 98.7% of the variation of Chl-a in Central lake. Thus EAWT is an important factor influencing the annual change of phytoplankton biomass. Extreme climate change, such as extremely hot springs or cold springs, could cause very different bloom intensities in different years. It is also suggested that both nutrients and EAWT played important roles in the growth of phytoplankton in Taihu lake. The climate factors and nutrients dually controlled the risk of harmful algal blooms in Taihu lake. Cutting down phosphorus and nitrogen loadings from catchments should be a fundamental strategy to reduce the risk of blooms in Taihu lake.
