While research on pedogenesis mainly focuses on long-term soil formation and most often neglects recent soil evolution in response to human practices or climate changes, this article reviews the impact of artificial subsurface drainage on soil evolution. Artificial drainage is considered as an example of the impact of recent changes in water fluxes on soil evolution over time scales of decades to a century. Results from various classical studies on artificial drainage including hydrological and environmental studies are reviewed and collated with rare studies dealing explicitly with soil morphology changes, in response to artificial drainage. We deduce that soil should react to the perturbations associated with subsurface drainage over time scales that do not exceeding a few decades. subsurface drainage decreases the intensity of erosion and must i) increase the intensity of the lixiviation and eluviation processes, ii) affect iron and manganese dynamics, and iii) induce heterogeneities in soil evolution at the ten meter scale. such recent soil evolutions can no longer be neglected as they are mostly irreversible and will probably have unknown, but expectable, feedbacks on crucial soil functions such as the sequestration of soil organic matter or the water available capacity.

Previous studies have shown that Physical Activity(PA)has a positive association with emotional health and intelligence in adolescents but none have focused on the relationship of PA duration and intensity on Emotional Intelligence(EI).The purpose of this study was to cross-sectionally assess the association of PA measures on overall EI and its domains in a cohort of 2029 adolescents aged 10-13 years of age in the National longitudinal survey for Children and Youth(NlsCY)from *** linear regression analysis of EI was adjusted for age,sex,annual household income,and health ***-way analysis of variance(ANOVA)was used to relate PA duration measured in minutes,frequency,and intensity categories with continuous GEI scores and also the corresponding scores for domains of *** mean GEI scores were(28.3±6.6)for 0-30 minute(min)PA duration,(30.0±6.5)for 30 tod(30.1±6.5)for≥121 *** was a statistically significant linear trend across PA duration categories,p?***-hoc pairwise comparison revealed that compared to the referent category(s statistically significantly lower GEI than each of the other two PA categories(30-59 min;and 60-120 min),both p-valuesld Health Organization(WHO)guidelines for duration and vigorous intensity were positively associated with the higher overall EI and its domains except for stress Management.

A newly developed severe plastic deformation （sPd） technique, i.e. repetitive upsetting （RU）, is employed to improve the strength and ductility of a Mg-Gd-Y-Zr alloy. during the RU processing, dynamic recrystallization occurs in the Mg alloy, which leads to a significant grain refinement from 11.2 p.m to 2.8 μm. The yield strength （Ys）, ultimate tensile strength （UTs） and elongation increase simultaneously with increasing RU passes. The microstructural evolution is affected by processing temperatures. dynamic recrystallization prevails at low temperatures, while dynamic recovery is the main effect factor at high temperatures. Texture characteristics gradually become random during multiple passes of RU processing, which reduces the tension-compression asymmetry of the Mg-Gd-Y-Zr alloy. 2018 Published by Elsevier ltd on behalf of The editorial office of Journal of Materials science ＆ Technology.

Establishing the correlation between inter-cluster assembly and auxiliary ligands at the atomic level is crucial for the development of metal cluster *** this work,we report the successful preparation and characterization of three Ag clusters,discrete 0-d Ag51s6Cl3（iPrs）21（TsO）15CH3CN(0-d Ag51,iPrs-=isopropanethiolate,TsO-=toluenesulfonate),1-d {Ag38s4（iPrs）18（PhCOO）12}_n(1-d Ag38,PHCOO-=benzoate),and 2-d {Ag20（sO4）Cl2（iPrs）10（NO3）6}_n(2-d Ag20),using a delicate auxiliary-ligand-induced *** analyses reveal that the types of auxiliary ligands can readily affect the structure and dimensionality of resulting Ag *** addition of different surface auxiliary ligands from TsO-to PhCOO-and then to NO3-leads to the formation of 0-d Ag51to 1-d Ag38and then to 2-d Ag20clusters under otherwise identical reaction conditions,*** resulting Ag clusters exhibited structure-related optical/luminescence properties and distinct bathochromic shifts as revealed by the temperature-dependent luminescence and single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies.
