Application of fractal theory in assessing soil aggregates in Indian tropical ecosystems

soil aggregation varies according to climatic and manage- ment factors, and is difficult to measure because of irregular shapes and sizes of soil aggregates. We applied fractal theory to assess soil aggrega- tion as affected by （1） land use change from forest to savanna, （2） nutri- ent additions in forest, ecotone, and savanna ecosystems, and （3） tillage practice and residue treatments in an agro-ecosystem. We used fractal dimensions nonlinear （D,o,-lin） and linear （Dlin） based on number of ag- gregates （N） and mass of aggregates （M）（the range of values were 2.6-2.89 and 2.694.41, respectively） to capture the variations in the sizes of soil aggregates due to land use and treatments/management in these ecosystems. The variation in the values of non-linear fractal dimension based on mass （DMnon-lin） was smaller in forest and savanna ecosystems with and without nutrient additions, while the variation was wider in agro-ecosystems with different management practices. Linear fractal dimensions based on number （Dr^i,） and mass （DMlin） of aggregates var- ied marginally in these ecosystems and did not capture the variations in soil aggregates well. The variations in non-linear fractal dimension indi- cate that continued nitrogen loading in forest accelerates the formation of macro-aggregates, whereas in savanna the situation was reversed. The values of non-linear fractal dimensions did not show significant change after 6 years of nutrient additions in the ecotone; reflecting a buffering mechanism of this system in soil aggregate formation. On the basis of non-linear fractal dimension values, we conclude that residue retention and minimum tillage are appropriate for proper maintenance of soil ag- gregate stability for sustained crop production in the Indian dry land agro-ecosystems

The study examines the thermal explosion branched-chain and entropy generation as a result of irreversibility of hydromagnetic reactive couple stress liquid with viscous heating and Navier *** reactive fluid flow is enhanced by heat dependent pre-exponential factor and axial pressure gradient in a porous *** flow equations for the non-Newtonian couple stress fluid model and heat transfer are solved by employing a semi-analytical collocation weighted residual method(CWRM).The efficiency and validity of the obtained results was verified with the existing *** results reveal that at low hysteresis magnetic and viscous dissipation the irreversibility process is minimized and thermodynamic equilibrium is *** results from this study can assist in understanding the relationship between thermal and thermal explosions branched-chain.

The Use of Triancinolone for the Treatment of Keloid scars

scars, when in good evolution, result in a smooth, thin and discreet tissue. Keloid scars, however, are a type of abnormal and exacerbated repair response to tissue injury, whether in surgical interventions or in various injuries, which present in a prominent and gross way. In this context, there is an excess of collagen deposition in the tissue repair process, which can lead to the formation of keloids. The diagnosis of the condition presented is made by the medical professional or by the patient himself after the surgical intervention or skin injury. Under this analysis, protruding, rough and bad-looking scars are identified. In addition, we highlight the existence of keloids similar to large tumors, described as Jorge Lobo disease. The treatment encompasses massages, compressions, corticosteroids, chemotherapy, collagenase and cryotherapy. At first, we used corticosteroid-based massages, and then we started using compressive dressings until we started intrakeloid infiltrations with injectable triamcinolone. Triamcinolone 10 mg injectable—1/10—in 0.9% saline, with syringe and fixed needle 0.3 mm × 8 mm, intralesional infiltrate, in this context, proved to be effective for its treatment when applied sequentially and linearly. In cases where the medication was applied, there was an improvement after 21 days of application and a definitive improvement 2 months after the injury. In comparison, on the other hand, patients who were not subjected to the application of the medication may improve after 4 months of the injury or worsen compared to the initial case. We have come to the conclusion that this procedure may be one of the chosen ones for the treatment of keloid scars, being one of the most recommended for cases of keloid already installed.

This paper introduces an Improved RC6(IRC6)cipher for data encryption based on data-dependent *** proposed scheme is designed with the potential of meeting the needs of the Advanced Encryption standard(AEs).Four parameters are used to characterize the proposed *** parameters are the size of the word(w)in bits,the number of rounds(r),the length of the secret key(b)in bytes,and the size of the block(L)in *** main feature of IRC6 is the variable number of working registers instead of just four registers as in RC6,resulting in a variable block size for plaintext and *** IRC6 cipher is designed to improve the robustness against attacks by increasing the diffusion for each round and providing greater security with fewer *** effectiveness of the proposed IRC6 scheme is verified against theoretical *** proposed IRC6 scheme depends on full diffusion and confusion mechanisms regardless of the utilized block *** proposed IRC6 scheme saves 70%of the encryption time and 64%of the decryption time of *** simulation results prove that the IRC6 achieves a better encryption/decryption time compared to the ***,the proposed IRC6 is anticipated to fulfill the market needs and system security requirements.

Insulin inhibits the JNK mediated cell death via upregulation of AKT expression in schwann cells grown in hyperglycemia

BACKGROUND： schwann cells （sCs） are the glial cells of the peripheral nervous system, which forms a thick insulating structure around the axons. Hyperglycemia is known physiologic conditions in both type Ⅰ and type Ⅱ diabetes which causes diabetic neuropathy. But the sC possesses insulin receptors even though glucose uptake is independent of insulin. since the insulin level is highly altered in diabetes, it is of greater importance to evaluate their role in the schwann cell survival and death. METHODs： schwann cells were isolated from neonatal pups and grown with and without insulin in hyperglycemic medium to mimic diabetic condition for 24 and 48 h. We studied the cell viability using 3 （4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl） 2,5- diphenyltetrazolium bromide （MTT） and mitochondrial membrane potential （MMP） assay at different time interval on sCs. We also studied the protein and gene expression of Protein Kinase B （AKT） and Jun N-terminal kinase （JNK）, which are greatly involved in cell survival and cell death respectively. REsULTs： The result shows that, high glucose levels for 48 h decrease the sC viability. Hyperglycemic condition induces the sC death by increasing the JNK expression which in turn reduces the MMP of glial cells. However, insulin administration for sCs grown in high glucose condition can reduce the JNK expression by activating AKT signaling pathway. CONCLUsION： These observations demonstrate that the proper insulin balance is required for schwann cells survival in hyperglycemic condition. Therefore, altered insulin signaling can be one of the reasons for demyelination of peripheral neurons in diabetic neuropathy.

Understanding of performance degradation of LiNi0.80Co0.10Mn0.10O2 cathode material operating at high potentials

Inferior cycling stability, poor safety, and gas generation are long lasting problems of Ni-rich Li Ni0.80 Co0.10 Mn0.10 O2(NCM811) cathode material. Although much effort has been made, mechanisms for the above problems are poorly understood. studying the cycling and float-charging characteristics of Li/NCM811 cells in high voltage conditions(4.5 V and 4.7 V, respectively), in this work we find that nearly all known problems with NCM811 material can be attributed to the oxidation of lattice oxygen occurring in the capacity region corresponding to H2 → H3 phase transition. While contributing to overall capacity,the oxidation of lattice oxygen results in a loss of oxygen through oxygen evolution and relative reactions between active oxygen evolution intermediates and electrolyte solvents. It is the loss of oxygen that results in irreversible layered-spinel-rocksalt phase transition, secondary particle cracking, and performance degradation. The conclusions of this work suggest that the priority for further research on NCM811 material should give to the suppression of oxygen evolution, followed by the use of the anti-oxygen electrolyte being chemically stable against the active oxygen evolution intermediates.

A carbuncle cure for the Harten-Lax-van Leer contact(HLLC)scheme using a novel velocity-based sensor

A hybrid numerical flux scheme is proposed by adapting the carbunclefree modified Harten-Lax-van Leer contact(HLLCM) scheme to smoothly revert to the Harten-Lax-van Leer contact(HLLC) scheme in regions of shear. This hybrid scheme, referred to as the HLLCT scheme, employs a novel, velocity-based shear sensor. In contrast to the non-local pressure-based shock sensors often used in carbuncle cures, the proposed shear sensor can be computed in a localized manner meaning that the HLLCT scheme can be easily introduced into existing codes without having to implement additional data structures. Through numerical experiments, it is shown that the HLLCT scheme is able to resolve shear layers accurately without succumbing to the shock instability.

Ion Beam surface Modification of Y-TZP and Effects of subsequent Annealing

Tetragonal zirconia polycrystals containing 3 mol% yttria (3Y-TZP), which show superplasticity at high temperatures, were irradiated using 130 MeV Zr+" ions in the TANDEM accelerator facility at Tokai Research Establishment, JAERI. The irradiation induced atomic displacement damage was analyzed by TRIM code. Changes in the mechanical properties and fracture behavior caused by the ion irradiation and the effects of subsequent annealing were studied. The distribution of micro-indentation depth as a function of the indentation position from the irradiated surface to the specimen interior was also examined. The occurrence of compressive residual stresses and increases in hardness and fracture toughness were found in the as-irradiated surface region of the specimen. The subsequent annealing revealed that these quantities were decreased gradually with raising the annealing temperature. Probable causes of the generation of the residual stress and the changes in mechanical properties and fracture mode due to the irradiation are discussed.
