The baumann skin Typing system diagnoses patients as having one of 16 skin types based on their answers to a validated questionnaire [i] known as the baumann skin Type Indicator [ii]. The BsTI questionnaire has been tested over the last decade on over 200,000 people of various ages and ethnicities in different geographic locations around the world. In this study, data were collected from 52,862 patients to compare skin type prevalence between those who presented to doctor’s offices and those who took the quiz without supervision online. The most common skin types varied only slightly between patients that took the quiz online and those that completed the questionnaire in their doctor’s office. This indicates that the prevalence of skin types seen in the doctor’s office is similar to that in the general population and that supervision is not necessary to get an accurate result on the BsTI. [iii] In addition, comparison of data gathered in China, Korea, and the Us did not show a significant difference in skin type prevalence between Asian and Caucasian skin types. [iv] This study demonstrates that the English version of the BsTI is valid for English speaking patients online, and in doctors’ offices in the Us, China and Korea.

Increased sebum production is a common skin complaint and plays an important role in acne and oily scalp conditions. To choose the correct skin care products, which mostly are marketed for dry, oily or normal skin, the consumer must self-assess their skin type. studies show that individuals incorrectly self-assess their sebum secretion levels. In order to be able to correctly determine skin oiliness, we have developed a six-item skin oiliness scale (sOs) that correlates with sebumeter measurements. The resulting correlation was 0.54, which was significantly different from zero (p s result indicates a strong relationship between the sOs scores and the associated sebumeter measurements. This is easy to administer questionnaire to accurately determine skin oiliness and can be useful in screening and recruiting patients for research trials, performing outcome research, and recommending skin care products and procedures. Our study shows that this skin oiliness scale is an accurate way to identify and quantify skin oiliness.

Objective： Advances in high-throughput genomic profiling and the development of new targeted therapies improve patient＇s survival. In gastrointestinal （GI） malignancies, the concept of personalized medicine （PM） was not investigated so far. The aim of this prospective study was to evaluate the efficacy of a personalized treatment in GI patients who failed standard treatment. Methods： Out of the original prospective clinical phase II EXACT trial, 21 （38%） GI cancer patients who had no further treatment options were identified. A molecular profile （MP） via a 50 gene next generation sequencing （NGs） panel in combination with immunohistochemistry （IHC） was conducted using real-time biopsy tumor material. Results were discussed by a multidisciplinary team （MDT） to translate the individual MP in an experimental treatment. Results： Of the 55 patients originally included in the EXACT trial, 21 （38%） suffered from GI malignancies. The final analysis showed that 15 （71%） patients had experienced a longer progression-free survival （PFs） upon experimental targeted treatment （124 d, quartiles 70/193 d）, when compared with the PFs achieved by the previous conventional therapy （62 d, quartiles 55/83 d）（P=0.014）. Thirteen （62%） patients receiving targeted treatment experienced a disease control according to Response Evaluation Criteria in solid Tumors （RECIsT）. Median overall survival （Os） from the start of experimental therapy to time of censoring or death was 193 d （quartiles 115/374 d）. Conclusions： PM was not investigated in GI malignancies so far in a prospective trial. This study shows that treatment based on real-time molecular tumor profiling led to a superior clinical benefit, and survival as well as response was significantly improved when compared with previous standard medications.
