Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disease characterized by motor deficits,dopaminergic neuron loss,and brain accumulation ofα-synuclein aggregates called Lewy *** in protein degradation pathways,such as autophagy,has been demonstrated in neurons as a critical mechanism for eliminating protein aggregates in Parkinson’s ***,it is less well understood how protein aggregates are eliminated in glia,the other cell type in the *** the present study,we show that autophagy-related gene 9(Atg9),the only transmembrane protein in the autophagy machinery,is highly expressed in Drosophila glia from adult *** from immunostaining and live cell imaging analysis reveal that a portion of Atg9 localizes to the trans-Golgi network,autophagosomes,and lysosomes in ***9 is persistently in contact with these *** glial atg9 reduces the number of omegasomes and autophagosomes,and impairs autophagic substrate *** suggests that glial Atg9 participates in the early steps of autophagy,and hence the control of autophagic ***,loss of glial atg9 induces parkinsonian symptoms in Drosophila including progressive loss of dopaminergic neurons,locomotion deficits,and glial *** findings identify a functional role of Atg9 in glial autophagy and establish a potential link between glial autophagy and Parkinson’s *** results may provide new insights on the underlying mechanism of Parkinson’s disease.

To the editor:Creatine kinase(CK),also called creatine phosphokinase,is primarily located in the cytoplasm and *** can be used to diagnose cardiac diseases such as myocardial infarction,viral myocarditis,and pericarditis because it is a vital kinase directly related to intracellular energy operation,muscle contraction,and adenosine triphosphate(ATP)*** studies have confirmed in recent years that serum biomarkers such as elevated CK are associated with Alzheimer’s disease(AD)and its related pathological protein.[1]Previous research indicated that systemic conditions,particularly cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases,are significant risk factors for cognitive impairment,and dysfunction of peripheral organs may also contribute to cognitive decline and AD.[2]However,the connection between CK and AD remains ***,to investigate the association between CK and cerebrospinal fluid(CsF)AD pathology biomarkers,we analyzed data from the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative(ADNI),a global multi-centered database.

Progress in the studies of chirality in atomic nuclei at iThemba LABs is *** regions of chirality,around mass 80 and 190 have been discovered using the AFRODITe array,specifically in the nuclei^(74)As,^(78,80,82)Br,^(81)Kr,and^(193,194,198)*** phenomena have been observed,including multiple chiral bands in the same nucleus,the coexistence of octupole correlations and nuclear chirality,and the coexistence of pseudo spin and nuclear *** best example of chiral degeneracy to date was found in ^(194)*** level scheme of ^(106)Ag has been revisited and interpreted in terms of two-and four-quasiparticle *** using the particle-rotor model have shown that the fingerprints of chirality in the two-quasiparticle system only can occur in an idealised model *** systems with a higher number of quasiparticles,the calculations showed that nuclear chirality can persist.

Lithium-sulfur(Li-s)batteries have been considered as promising energy storage systems due to the merits of high energy density and low ***,the lithium polysulfides(LiPss)diffusion and sluggish redox kinetics hamper the battery *** this work,low-bandgap indium oxide(In_(2)O_(3))with dense oxygen vacancies(In_(2)O_(3−x),0ed in nitrogen-doped carbon column(NC)is developed as a desirable LiPss immobilizer and promoter to address these intractable *** NC confined In_(2)O_(3−x)with rich O vacancies(In_(2)O_(3−x)@NC)lowers the bandgap of 1.78 eV,strengthens the chemical adsorbability to LiPss,and catalyzes the bidirectional Li_(2)s *** to the structural and chemical cooperativities,the obtained sulfur electrodes exhibit a stable cycling over 550 cycles at 1.0 C and splendid rate capability up to 4.0 *** significantly,when the sulfur-loading reaches as high as 5.5 mg·cm^(−2),the cathodes achieve an areal capacity of 5.12 mAh·cm^(−2)at 0.1 *** strategy of NC confined catalyst with rich defects engineering demonstrates great promise in the development of practical Li-s batteries.

Combination of CO_(2) capture using inorganic alkali with subsequently electrochemical conversion of the resultant HCO_(3)^(-)to high-value chemicals is a promising route of low cost and high *** electrochemical reduction of HCO_(3)^(-)is challenging due to the inaccessible of negatively charged molecular groups to the electrode ***,we adopt a comprehensive strategy to tackle this challenge,i.e.,cascade of in situ chemical conversion of HCO_(3)^(-)to CO_(2) and CO_(2) electrochemical reduction in a flow *** a tailored Ni-N-s single atom catalyst(sACs),where sulfur(s)atoms located in the second shell of Ni center,the CO_(2)electroreduction(CO_(2)eR)to CO is *** experimental results and density functional theory(DFT)calculations reveal that the introduction of s increases the p electron density of N atoms near Ni atom,thereby stabilizing^(*)H over N and boosting the first proton coupled electron transfer process of CO_(2)eR,i.e.,^(*)+e^(-)+^(*)H+^(*)CO_(2)→^(*)*** a result,the obtained catalyst exhibits a high faradaic efficiency(Fe_(CO)~98%)and a low overpotential of 425 mV for CO production as well as a superior turnover frequency(TOF)of 47397 h^(-1),outcompeting most of the reported Ni *** importantly,an extremely high FeCOof 90%is achieved at 50 mA cm^(-2)in the designed membrane electrode assembly(MeA)cascade electrolyzer fed with liquid *** work not only highlights the significant role of the second coordination on the first coordination shell of the central metal for CO_(2)eR,but also provides an alternative and feasible strategy to realize the electrochemical conversion of HCO_(3)^(-)to high-value chemicals.

The main objective of this paper is to investigate the influence of inertia of nonlinear springs on the dispersion behavior of discrete monoatomic chains with lumped and distributed *** developed model can represent the wave propagation problem in a non-homogeneous material consisting of heavy inclusions embedded in a *** inclusions are idealized by lumped masses,and the matrix between adjacent inclusions is modeled by a nonlinear spring with distributed ***,the model is capable of depicting the wave propagation in bi-material bars,wherein the first material is represented by a rigid particle and the second one is represented by a nonlinear spring with distributed *** discrete model of the nonlinear monoatomic chain with lumped and distributed masses is first considered,and a closed-form expression of the dispersion relation is obtained by the second-order Lindstedt-Poincare method(LPM).Next,a continuum model for the nonlinear monoatomic chain is derived directly from its discrete lattice model by a suitable continualization *** subsequent use of the second-order method of multiple scales(MMs)facilitates the derivation of the corresponding nonlinear dispersion relation in a closed *** novelties of the present study consist of(i)considering the inertia of nonlinear springs on the dispersion behavior of the discrete mass-spring chains;(ii)developing the second-order LPM for the wave propagation in the discrete chains;and(iii)deriving a continuum model for the nonlinear monoatomic chains with lumped and distributed ***,a parametric study is conducted to examine the effects of the design parameters and the distributed spring mass on the nonlinear dispersion relations and phase velocities obtained from both the discrete and continuum *** parameters include the ratio of the spring mass to the lumped mass,the nonlinear stiffness coefficient of the spring,and the wave amplitude.
