Objective: To use structure-activity analysis to study the anti-Alzheimer's disease(anti-AD) activity of natural coumarins isolated from Angelica decursiva and Artemisia capillaries, along with one purchased coumarin(daphnetin). Methods: Umbelliferone, umbelliferone 6-carboxylic acid, scopoletin, isoscopoletin, 7-methoxy coumarin, scoparone, scopolin, and esculetin have been previously isolated; however 2'-isopropyl psoralene was isolated from Angelica decursiva for the first time to evaluate their inhibitory effects against acetylcholinesterase(ACh E), butyrylcholinesterase(BCh E), and β-site amyloid precursor protein cleaving enzyme 1(BACE1) enzyme activity. we scrutinized the potentials of coumarins as cholinesterase and BACE1 inhibitors via enzyme kinetics and molecular docking simulation. Results: Among the test compounds, umbelliferone 6-carboxylic acid, esculetin and daphnetin exhibited potent inhibitory activity against ACh E, BCh E and BACE1. Both esculetin and daphnetin have a catechol group and exhibit significant anti-AD activity against ACh E and BCh E. In contrast, presence of a sugar moiety and methoxylation markedly reduced the anti-AD activity of the coumarins investigated in this study. with respect to BACE1 inhibition, umbelliferone 6-carboxylic acid, esculetin and daphnetin contained carboxyl or catechol groups, which significantly contributed to their antiAD activities. To further investigate these results, we generated a 3D structure of BACE1 using Autodock 4.2 and simulated binding of umbelliferone 6-carboxylic acid, esculetin and daphnetin. Docking simulations showed that different residues of BACE1 interacted with hydroxyl and carboxylic groups, and the binding energies of umbelliferone 6-carboxylic acid, esculetin and daphnetin were negative(-4.58,-6.25 and-6.37 kcal/mol respectively). Conclusions: Taken together, our results suggest that umbelliferone 6-carboxylic acid, esculetin and daphnetin have anti-AD effects by inhibiting ACh E, BCh

To improve lithium-sulfur battery performance,Co-MOF-74 has been applied for the first time as an interlayer with multiwalled carbon nanotubes(MwCNTs).Co-MOF-74@MwCNT was synthesized using a solvothermal *** fabrication of Co-MOF-74@MwCNT was confirmed by scanning electron microscopy,X-ray diffraction,thermogravimetric analysis,and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller *** interlayer was fabricated using a filtration *** batteries.w.re prepared using a CoMOF-74@MwCNT interlayer and an MwCNT interlayer and subsequently investigated via cyclic voltammetry ***-MOF-74 promotes a redox reaction and shows a small peak at 1.85 V.A symmetric and full cell test revealed that the Co-MOF-74@MwCNT cell enables a faster redox reaction and higher capacity than that of the MwCNT *** 15 cycles,the Co-MOF-74@MwCNT cell achieved a value of 1112 mAh g^(-1),which is 26% greater than that of the MwCNT cell(880 mAh g^(-1)) at 0.2 *** profile testing showed that the reason for the higher capacity of the Co-MOF-74@MwCNT cell is that it promotes the conversion of Li_(2)s_(2) to Li_(2)*** electrochemical analyses confirmed that the Co-MOF-74@MwCNT interlayer acts not only as a physical and chemical barrier but also promotes the transformation of Li_(2)s_(2) to Li_(2)s.

Glacio-isostatic adjustment(GIA)and tectonic activity are important factors in the formation of marine *** Holocene wave-cut benches in the eastern part of the west sea of Korea,also called the Yellow sea,can be divided into two steps:531 cm above sea level(AsL)for the upper bench(T2)and 464-481 cm AsL for the lower bench(T1).sediments on the benches a re classified into four units,and are interpreted to be beach deposits acco rding to gravel shape,textu re,and seaward *** ove rlying sediment indicates that T2 was formed at approximately 530 cm AsL before 2900 yr BP,and T1 at approximately 460-480 cm AsL before 1520 yr *** Holocene(4000-2000 yr BP)relative sea level(RsL)curves based on GIA models are inconsistent with the wave-cut bench *** T1 and T2 benches to the RsL curves of the west sea,the upper and the lower benches.w.re uplifted by approximately 5-8 m and 4-7 m,*** the area is several hundred kilometers away from plate boundaries,the high frequency of earthquakes in the west sea may have induced the uplift of wave-cut benches during the last 2000 *** indicate that the west coast of the Korean Peninsula(KP)should no longer be considered an area of subsidence,but be assigned to a regime of uplift during the late Holocene.

Polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells(PEMFCs)are considered a promising alternative to internal combustion engines in the automotive *** commercialization is mainly hindered due to the cost and effectiveness of using platinum(Pt)in *** cathode catalyst layer(CL)is considered a core component in PEMFCs,and its composition often considerably affects the cell performance(V_(cell))also PEMFC fabrication and production(C_(stack))*** this study,a data-driven multi-objective optimization analysis is conducted to effectively evaluate the effects of various cathode CL compositions on Vcelland *** essential cathode CL parameters,i.e.,platinum loading(L_(Pt)),weight ratio of ionomer to carbon(wt_(I/C)),weight ratio of Pt to carbon(wt_(Pt/c)),and porosity of cathode CL(ε_(cCL)),are considered as the design *** simulation results of a three-dimensional,multi-scale,two-phase comprehensive PEMFC model are used to train and test two famous surrogates:multi-layer perceptron(MLP)and response surface analysis(RsA).Their accuracies are verified using root mean square error and adjusted R^(2).MLP which outperforms RsA in terms of prediction capability is then linked to a multi-objective non-dominated sorting genetic algorithmⅡ.Compared to a typical PEMFC stack,the results of the optimal study show that the single-cell voltage,Vcellis improved by 28 m V for the same stack price and the stack cost evaluated through the U.s department of energy cost model is reduced by$5.86/k w for the same stack performance.

Graphene is an attractive material for all-optical modulation because of its ultrafast optical response and broad spectral ***,all-optical graphene modulators reported so far require high pump fluence due to the ultrashort photo-carrier lifetime and limited absorption in *** present modulator designs based on graphene-metal hybrid plasmonic metasurfaces.w.th highly enhanced light-graphene interaction in the nanoscale hot spots at pump and probe(signal)*** on this design concept,we have demonstrated high-speed all-optical modulators at near and mid-infrared wavelengths(1.56μm and above 6μm)with significantly reduced pump fluence(1–2 orders of magnitude)and enhanced optical *** near-infrared pump-probe measurement results suggest that the modulators’response times are ultimately determined by graphene’s ultrafast photocarrier relaxation times on the picosecond *** proposed designs hold the promise to address the challenges in the realization of ultrafast all-optical modulators for mid-and far-infrared wavelengths.

The mixed spinel ferrite system Mg0.95Mn0.05Fe2-2xTizxO4 （0 ≤x ≤ 0.7） was synthesized by the conventional solid-state reaction technique. The effect of Ti^4＋ doping was studied by using the Moessbauer spectroscopy measurements at room temperature. From the analysis of the Moessbauer spectra, it is observed that s-electron density, electric field gradient （EFG）, quadrupole coupling constant （QCC） and the net hyperfine magnetic fields acting on the Moessbauer nuclei-FeA^3＋ and FeB^3＋ change with the increase of Ti^4＋ doping in Mg0.95Mn0.05Fe2O4. The hyperfine magnetic field decreases.w.th the increase of Ti^4＋ doping.
