China’s coastal wetlands provide breeding,migration stopover,and wintering habitats for about 230 waterbird species.w.ich is more than a quarter of all waterbirds in the ***-scale and high intensity human activities have resulted in serious loss and degradation of coastal wetlands over the past half century,causing population declines in many *** a literature review and expert surveys,this article reviews conservation measures taken in recent decades to protect waterbirds in China’s coastal wetlands and provides recommendations for future conservation action from three aspects:policy and administration,habitat conservation and management,and multiparty *** the past decades,many conservation legislation,regulations and action plans at the national level and more site-specific measures and interventions have been implemented,with notable improvement in the effectiveness in policy making and multi-stakeholder ***,some threats to waterbirds have been mitigated and many key sites for waterbirds have been designated as strictly protected nature ***,some critical issues still remain,mostly related to habitat conservation and management,such as coastal wetland restoration,control of invasive spartina alterniflora,control of environmental pollution,and improvement of artificial habitat *** highlight that protecting natural tidal wetlands and improving habitat quality are critical for the conservation of coastal waterbirds,especially those highly dependent on the intertidal *** has demonstrated strong commitment to ecological conservation and restoration for the future,in terms of both funding and policies for biodiversity and wetland *** is important that this commitment to conserve coastal waterbirds is supported continuously by science-and evidence-based decisions and actions.

A taxonomic review of the genus Miaenia Pascoe, 1864(Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) from south Korea with a new record of M. tonsa(Bates)

The cerambycid genus Miaenia Pascoe(Coleoptera: Cerambycoidea) of south Korea is taxonomically reviewed. Two species, Miaenia fasciata fasciata(Matsushita) and Miaenia maritima Tsherepanov have been recorded. In this paper, M. tonsa(Bates) is added to the Korean cerambycid fauna for the first time. A key to Korean Miaenia species, re-description and diagnostic illustrations, including male genitalia for each species, are provided.

Two-dimensional(2D)character animation is one of the most important visual elements on which users’interest is focused in the game ***,2D character animation works in the game field are mostly performed manually in two dimensions,thus generating high production *** study proposes a generative adversarial network based production tool that can easily and quickly generate the sprite images of 2D ***,we proposed a methodology to create a synthetic dataset for training using images from the real world in the game resource production field where machine learning datasets are *** addition,we have enabled effective sprite generation while minimizing user input in the process of using the *** this end,we proposed a mixed input method with a small number of segmentations and skeletal bone *** proposed image-to-image translation network effectively generated sprite images from the user input images using the skeletal *** conducted an experiment regarding the number of images required and showed that 2D sprite resources can be generated even with a small number of segmentation inputs and one skeletal bone drawing.

Optimized functional linked neural network for predicting diaphragm wall deflection induced by braced excavations in clays

Deep excavation during the construction of underground systems can cause movement on the ground,especially in soft clay *** high levels,excessive ground movements can lead to severe damage to adjacent *** this study,finite element analyses(FEM)and the hardening small strain(Hss)model were performed to investigate the deflection of the diaphragm wall in the soft clay layer induced by braced *** geometric and mechanical properties of the wall were investigated to study the deflection behavior of the wall in soft ***,1090 hypothetical cases.w.re surveyed and simulated based on the Hss model and FEM to evaluate the wall deflection *** results.w.re then used to develop an intelligent model for predicting wall deflection using the functional linked neural network(FLNN)with different functional expansions and activation *** the FLNN is a novel approach to predict wall deflection;however,in order to improve the accuracy of the FLNN model in predicting wall deflection,three swarm-based optimization algorithms,such as artificial bee colony(ABC),Harris’s hawk’s optimization(HHO),and hunger games search(HGs),were hybridized to the FLNN model to generate three novel intelligent models,namely ABC-FLNN,HHO-FLNN,*** results of the hybrid models.w.re then compared with the basic FLNN and MLP *** revealed that FLNN is a good solution for predicting wall deflection,and the application of different functional expansions and activation functions has a significant effect on the outcome predictions of the wall *** is remarkably interesting that the performance of the FLNN model was better than the MLP model with a mean absolute error(MAE)of 19.971,root-mean-squared error(RMsE)of 24.574,and determination coefficient(R^(2))of ***,the performance of the MLP model only obtained an MAE of 20.321,RMsE of 27.091,and R^(2)of ***,the results also indicated that the proposed

Li-s batteries have attracted considerable interest as nextgeneration energy storage devices owing to high energy density and the natural abundance of ***,the practical applications of Li-s batteries are hampered by the shuttle effect of soluble lithium polysulfides(LPs),which results in low cycle ***,a functional interlayer has been developed to efficiently regulate the LPs and enhance the sulfur utilization using hierarchical nanostructure of C3 N4(t-C3 N4)embedded with Fe304 nanospheres.t-C3 N4 exhibits high surface area and strong anchoring of LPs,and the Fe3 O4/t-C3 N4 accelerates the anchoring of LPs and improves the electronic *** combination of these materials leads to remarkable battery performance with 400%improvement in a specific capacity and a low capacity decay per cycle of 0.02%at 2 C over 1000 cycles,and stable cycling at 6.4 mg cm-2 for high-sulfur-loading cathode.

Temporal dynamics of phytoplankton communities in a semi-enclosed mariculture pond and their responses to environmental factors

Variations in physical-chemical factors, species composition, abundance and biomass of nano-and micro-phytoplankton assemblages, as.w.ll as their responses to environmental factors, were investigated over a complete cycle (6 months) in a semi-enclosed shrimp-farming pond near Qingdao, northern China. The aim was to establish the temporal patterns of phytoplankton communities and to evaluate protists as suitable bioindicators to water quality in mariculture systems. A total of 34 taxa with nine dominant species.w.re identified, belonging to six taxonomic groups (dinoflagellates, diatoms, cryptophyceans, chlorophyceans, euglenophyceans and chrysophyceans). A single peak of protist abundance occurred in October, mainly due to chlorophyceans, diatoms and chrysophyceans. Two biomass peaks in July and October were primarily due to dinoflagellates and diatoms. Temporal patterns of the phytoplankton communities significantly correlated with the changes in nutrients, temperature and pH, especially phosphate, either alone or in combination with NO3-N and NH3-N. species diversity, evenness and richness indices.w.re clearly correlated with water temperature and/or salinity, whereas the biomass/abundance ratio showed a significant correlation with NO3-N. The results suggest that phytoplankton are potentially useful bioindicators to water quality in semi-enclosed mariculture systems.

Comparison of the meibomian gland dysfunction in patients.w.th chronic ocular graft-versus-host disease and sjogren's syndrome

AIM: To investigate the abnormalities in the meibomian gland in patients.w.th dry eye disease(DED) associated with chronic ocular graft-versus-host disease(coGVHD) in comparison with sj?gren's syndrome(ss), a major form of aqueous deficient DED and meibomian gland dysfunction(MGD), a common cause of evaporative ***: A total 135 eyes of 135 subjects included in this study: patients.w.th DED associated with coGVHD(n=30), patients.w.th ss(n=35), patients.w.th MGD(n=35), and normal controls(n=35). All participants completed the Ocular surface Disease Index(OsDI) questionnaire, ocular surface examination [schirmer test, tear film breakup time(TFBUT), and ocular surface staining], and meibomian gland assessment [meiboscore(gland dropout detected on meibography using infrared camera of the Keratograph 5 M), meibum expressibility score(MEs), meibum quality score(MQs), lid margin abnormality]. In addition, correlations of meibomian gland characteristics.w.th ocular surface parameters as.w.ll as disease severity score were investigated in coGVHD ***: The coGVHD group showed significantly higher meiboscore, MEs, and MQs than the other 3 groups(all Ps of meibomian gland showed a significant correlation each other and those of ocular surface. The correlation between meibomian gland parameters and severity score of co GVHD was also established(meiboscore, r=0.62; MEs, r=0.47; MQs, r=0.47; lid margin abnormality score, r=0.55; all PsION: Patients.w.th DED associated with co GVHD show poorer gland morphology and worse glandfunction than other types of DED. In addition, meibomian gland damage is not only associated with ocular surface damage but also disease severity of coGVHD.

Improving acoustical characteristics of a Gothic cathedral using simple public address system： A case study of Nlyeong-dong Cathedral in seoul, Korea

In the present study, improving acoustical characteristics of a Gothic cathedral （Myeong-dong Cathedral, which is the first built western Gothic-style architecture in Korea） using simple public address system were investigated. Acoustical measurements.w.re conducted at 11 selected points inside the cathedral and seven acoustical parameters.w.re calculated： sound pressure level （sPL）： 64.6 dBA （the measurement value with regard to the omni-directional speaker sound source）; 74.5 dBA （the measurement value with regard to the public address speaker sound source）, early decay time （EDT）： 4.04 s; 3.76 s, reverberation time （RT6o）： 3.58 s; 3.89 s, clarity （Cso）： -6.2 dB; -2.8 dB, definition （D50）： 18%; 29%, initial time delay gap （ITDG）： 47 ms; 23 ms, and rapid speech transmission index （RAsTI）： 32%; 42%. Parameters showed that the acoustical characteristics of a typical Gothic cathedral include rich reverberation and diffusive sound fields. Meanwhile, there was improved speech intelligibility when using simple public address system. Based on subjective evaluation, there was overall satisfaction with voice and music recognition and the highest satisfaction with clarity with respect to voice recognition and with reverberation with respect to music recognition. This is a good solution of optimized acoustic environment through harmony between natural reverberation and reinforced clarity using simple public address system.
