Arabinoxylans are the major non-starch polysaccharides in wheat and are reported to influence quality of bakery products. Arabinoxylans were isolated from good and poor chapati making varieties, added them at different levels (0.25 and 0.5 g/100g) to the same flour, interchanged with other varieties and determined the effect of arabinoxylans on rheological properties of dough and chapati making quality. Rheological properties were improved upon adding isolated arabinoxylans of good chapati making varieties to flours. Interestingly, addition of isolated arabinoxylans of good chapati making varieties to poor chapati making varieties had significantly improved the chapati quality. sensory studies showed that chapatis prepared from flour added with arabinoxylans of good chapati varieties had soft texture and high overall quality scores. These changes are attributed to differences in their arabinose/xylose ratio. Thus, results indicated that addition of isolated arabinoxylans of good chapati making flour improved the chapati quality of poor chapati making flour.

Bioleaching of a low grade chalcopyrite （ball mill spillage material） was tested for copper recovery in shake flasks. The original samples （as received） were thermally activated （600℃, 30 min） to notice the change in physico-chemical and mineralogical characteristics of the host rock and subsequently its effect on copper recovery. A mixed culture of acidophilic chemolithotrophic bacterial consortium predominantly entailing Acidithiobacillus fer- rooxidans strain was used for bioleaching studies and optimization of process parameters of both original and thermally activated samples. Mineralogical characteriza- tion studies indicated the presence of chalcopyrite, pyrite in the silicate matrix of the granitic rock. Field emission scanning electron microscopy coupled with Energy dispers.v. spectroscopy （FEsEM-EDs） and X-ray Fluor- escence （XRF） analysis indicated mostly siO2. With pH 2, pulp density 10% w/v, inoculum 10% v/v, temperature 30~C, 150 ***-~, 49% copper could be recovered in 30 days from the finest particle size （- 1 ~ 0.75 mm） of the original spillage sample. Under similar conditions 95% copper could be recovered from the thermally activated sample with the same size fraction in 10 days. The study revealed that thermal activation leads to volume expansion in the rock with the development of cracks, micro and macro pores on its surface, thereby enabling bacterial solution to penetrate more easily into the body, facilitating enhanced copper dissolution.

sludge production is an avoidable problem arising from the treatment of wastewater. The sludge remained after municipal wastewater treatment contains considerable amounts of various contaminants and if is not properly handled and disposed, it may produce extens.v. health hazards. On the other hand, this sludge has benefit for plants and soils. sludge samples were collected over a 12 month period from sewage treatment plants （sTP＇s）, i.e, Khairathabad and Meeralam Tank, Hyderabad, India and analyzed for C, H, N, s by elementar analyzer, P, K, Ca, Mg by spectrophotometer and heavy metals like Zn, Pb, Ni, Cu, Cd by atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The sludge contained approximately 50% organic matter and 1-4% inorganic carbon. Organic and inorganic carbon, organic nitrogen, inorganic phosphorous, Ca and Mg were found to be present in sludge at a relatively constant concentration with respect to sampling time. Inorganic N, organic P, K, and all metals were found to be quite variable with time when sludge produced from different sTP＇s.

＜正＞ Wagarwadi watershed covering about 564 hectares in Parbhani district, Maharashtra has been developed by Marathwada Agricultural University, Parbhani since 1987. Groundwater monitoring has been carried out monthly from 16 observation wells since January 1992. Aquifer parameters have been estimated through carrying out of pumping test on dug wells in the basaltic formation. Water harvesting structures have been constructed during 1994 and regular monthly monitoring of the stage data on these structures is available since June 1997.

BACKGROUND： studies have shown that electro-acupuncture at the Ren meridian could improve proliferation of subventricular zone neural stem cells in cerebral-ischemic rats. However, there are few reports on the influence of electro-acupuncture at the Du meridian on neural stem cell proliferation. OBJECTIvE： To observe the influence of electro-acupuncture at Ren and Du meridians on neural stem cell proliferation in the subventricular zone and altered signal transduction in cerebral ischemia rats. DEsIGN, TIME AND sETTING： A randomized, controlled, animal experiment was performed at the Laboratory of Human Anatomy, Medical College of sun Yat-sen University from May 2006 to February 2008. MATERIALs： Mouse anti-rat bromodeoxyuridine （BrdU） monoclonal antibody was provided by sigma, UsA; mouse anti-rat nestin monoclonal antibody and extracellular signal-regulated protein kinase （ERK） specific inhibitor PD98059 were provided by Calbiochem, Germany; acupuncture needle was provided by suzhou Acupuncture supplies, China. METHODs： A total of 126 rats were randomly assigned to four groups： model （n = 36）, Du meridian （n = 36）, Ren/Du meridian （n = 36）, and Ren/Du meridian ＋ PD98059 （n = 18）. Rats in the Ren/Du meridian ＋ PD98059 group were observed on days 7 （n = 6） and 14 （n = 12） after cerebral ischemia injury. Rats in the model, Du meridian, and Ren/Du meridian groups were observed on days 7, 14, and 28 after cerebral ischemia injury, with 12 rats per group at each time point. Thread occlusion was used to establish middle cerebral artery occlusion models. Electro-acupuncture was performed at Renzhong （DU 26） and Baihui （DU 20） acupoints in the Du meridian group, as well as Chengjiang （RN 24）, Guanyuan （RN 4）, Renzhong, and Baihuiacupoints in the Ren/Du meridian and Ren/Du meridian ＋ PD98059 groups 2 days after model establishment. Ni-Zn ferrite with composition of Ni1-xZnxFe2O4 (x = 0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 0.9, 1.0) were prepared by citrate gel method. The Dielectric Properties for all the samples were investigated at room temperature as a function of frequency. The dielectric constant shows dispersion in the lower frequency region and remains almost constant at higher frequencies. The frequency dependence of dielectric loss tangent (tan δ) is found to be abnormal, giving a peak at certain frequency for mixed Ni-Zn ferrites. A qualitative explanation is given for the composition and frequency dependence of the dielectric loss tangent.

Objective: The aim of the study was to determine usefulness of is.v.lumic acceleration to assess right ventricular function in patients with pulmonary hypertension. Background: Right ventricular dysfunction is a powerful predictor of adverse outcomes in patients with pulmonary hypertension. Although is.v.lumic acceleration is a sensitive and relatively load-independent parameter for ventricular contractile function, it has not been widely used. so, the aim of the study was to determine the usefulness of is.v.lumic acceleration in assessing right ventricular function in patients with pulmonary hypertension. Methods: A single center, prospective observational case-control study has been carried out for the period of one year at Osmania general hospital (Hyderabad). A total of 32 consecutive patients with pulmonary hypertension and 32 age matched healthy controls were recruited in the study as per the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the study. Receiver operator characteristic curves were used to study sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive values as well as pearson’s correlation coefficients. Results: The results of the study showed that is.v.lumic acceleration has good significant correlation with right ventricular fractional area change (r = 0.554, p = 0.001) and tissue Doppler myocardial performance index (r = -0.599, p = 0.001) whereas a lesser but significant correlation was observed with tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (r = 0.327, p = 0.034). Is.v.lumic acceleration showed higher specificity (81%) and positive predictive value (88%) in diagnosing right ventricular dysfunction in pulmonary hypertension compared to tricuspid annular systolic excursion velocity and tissue Doppler myocardial performance index parameters. Therefore is.v.lumic acceleration may be a better variable for diagnosing right ventricular dysfunction. Conclusions: Is.v.lumic acceleration is a sensitive and specific marker of right ventricular

GPs navigation signal includes.v.tal information such as orbital parameters, clock error coefficients etc. This received signal which is extremely weak is affected by s.v.ral errors during its propagation and is of the order of 10-16 W. The noise floor of this signal is 400 times higher than the transmitted signal. The situation becomes much worse particularly when the GPs receiver is located at urban areas where the multipath effect is predominant in the code and carrier phase measurements. GPs usage is not limited to the aircraft en-route navigation and missile guidance where the user receives the satellite signals from the open sky. At the present time, it has become an essential utility in the car navigation, mobile phones, surveying and aircraft landing application. The signal propagation characteristics particularly the short-term variations s.v.rely affect the quality, availability and continuity of the system. In this paper, short-term propagation characteristics of GPs signal are modeled and analyzed. short-term variations are mainly due to multipath reflections and Doppler shift which degrades the quality of received signal particularly in urban environments. The variation of signal quality with respect to user velocity is observed using Rayleigh and Rician fading models.
