We study the existence of positive solutions of a population model with diffusion of the form where Δ p denotes the p-Laplacian operator defined by Δ p z = div (∣∇z∣ p-2 ∇z), p > 1, Ω is a bounded domain of R N with smooth boundary, α ∈ (0, 1), a and c are positive constants. Here f : [0, ∞) → R is a continuous function. This model arises in the studies of population biology of one species with u representing the concentration of the species. We discuss the existence of positive solution when f satisfies certain additional conditions. We use the method of sub- and super-solutions to establish our results.

BACKGROUND Changes in N-linked glycosylation have been observed in the circulation of individuals with hepatocellular carcinoma. In particular, an elevation in the level of core fucosylation has been observed. However, the mechanisms through which core fucose is increased are not well understood. We hypothesized that a review of the literature and related bioinformatic review regarding six genes known to be involved in the attachment of core fucosylation, the synthesis of the fucosylation substrate guanosine diphosphate(GDP)-fucose, or the transport of the substrate into the Golgi might offer mechanistic insight into the regulation of core fucose *** To survey the literature to capture the involvement of genes regulating core Nlinked fucosylation in hepatocellular carcinoma METHODs The PubMed biomedical literature database was searched for the association of hepatocellular carcinoma and each of the core fucose-related genes and their protein products. We also queried The Cancer Genome Atlas Liver hepatocellular carcinoma(LIHC) dataset for genetic, epigenetic and gene expression changes for the set of six genes using the tools at *** A total of 27 citations involving one or more of the core fucosylation-related genes(FPGT, FUK, FUT8, GMDs, sLC35 C1, TsTA3) and hepatocellular carcinoma were identified. The same set of gene symbols was used to query the371 patients with liver cancer in the LIHC dataset to identify the frequency of m RNA over or under expression, as well as non-synonymous mutations, copy number variation and methylation level. Although all six genes trended to moresamples displaying over expression relative to under-expression, it was noted that a number of tumor samples had undergone amplification of the genes of the de novo synthesis pathway, GMDs(27 samples) and TsTA3(78 samples). AIM： To analyze the possible risk factors in the development of seasonal allergic conjunctivitis（sAC） through an evaluation of skin allergy tests and data obtained from ***： The study included a total of 75 sAC patients and 71 control subjects without sAC diagnosis who were admitted to the Abant Izzet Baysal University Medical Faculty Ophthalmology Clinic between March 2016 and December 2016. skin prick tests were performed for all participants. serum levels of total IgE and 25-OH vitamin D were also measured. In the tear, total IgE levels were measured. Moreover, possible risk factors for the onset of sAC（smoking, paracetamol exposure, vitamin D supplementation and environmental factors etc.） were examined for all patients by both prenatal and postnatal ***： The patients with sAC were found to have a history of maternal paracetamol exposure during the prenatal period. Likewise, in the same patient group, the duration of postnatal vitamin D supplementation was shorter（P〈0.001）. However, no significant correlation was found between sAC and maternal antibiotic exposure, maternal smoking, the mode of delivery and birth weight, as well as presence of pets. Moreover, patients with sAC were more likely to have asthma, allergic rhinitis and oral allergy syndrome. We have also found that sAC patients＇ mothers and siblings were more likely to have allergic conjunctivitis. Likewise, their fathers were more likely to have allergic rhinitis. CONCLUsION： Prenatal maternal paracetamol exposure and shorter duration of vitamin D supplementation in the postnatal period may play a role in development of sAC. Therefore prevention of unnecessary gestational paracetamol intake and vitamin D supplementation during infancy could potentially reduce the onset and development of sAC.

This paper presents the results of the application of a cold spray technique for structuring metallic surfaces with microparticles. The resulting changes in surface properties were characterized to observe their influences on the tribological behavior of the structured surface. The spray technique was applied to a technical component, a 16MnCr5 steel chain pin, designed to be mounted in a linear reciprocating tribometer. TiO2 microparticles were used to structure the surface with a homogeneous distribution of singly dispersed particles, rather than a homogeneous closed coating on the surface. Tribometer tests were performed to directly compare structured and unstructured chain pins, and a significantly reduced sliding friction coefficient was observed for the structured pin. The pins were characterized in detail by surface analysis prior to and after application of the tribological load to set the surface parameters and surface chemistry, even on the microscale. It was confirmed that the particle structuring induced changes in the surface properties, and the durability of the changes after tribological loading was evaluated.

Artificial Intelligence(AI)and Computer Vision(CV)advancements have led to many useful methodologies in recent years,particularly to help visually-challenged *** detection includes a variety of challenges,for example,handlingmultiple class images,images that get augmented when captured by a camera and so *** test images include all these variants as *** detection models alert them about their surroundings when they want to walk *** study compares four CNN-based pre-trainedmodels:ResidualNetwork(ResNet-50),Inception v3,DenseConvolutional Network(DenseNet-121),and squeezeNet,predominantly used in image recognition *** on the analysis performed on these test images,the study infers that Inception V3 outperformed other pre-trained models in terms of accuracy and *** further improve the performance of the Inception v3 model,the thermal exchange optimization(TEO)algorithm is applied to tune the hyperparameters(number of epochs,batch size,and learning rate)showing the novelty of the *** accuracy was achieved owing to the inclusion of an auxiliary classifier as a regularizer,hyperparameter optimizer,and factorization ***,Inception V3 can handle images of different *** makes Inception V3 the optimum model for assisting visually challenged people in real-world communication when integrated with Internet of Things(IoT)-based devices.

Knowledge and awareness of glaucoma in Mexican patients with and without glaucoma diagnosis in an Ophthalmology Referral Center

AIM: To assess and compare knowledge and awareness of glaucoma in subjects with and without glaucoma diagnosis attending an Ophthalmology Referral ***: This cross-sectional study was conducted at Asociación Para Evitar la Ceguera in Mexico City, using a questionnaire formulated by a group of experts following the Delphi panel rules, and pre-tested in a pilot *** questionnaire was applied and compared between:glaucoma patients, relatives of glaucoma patients and patients without glaucoma. socio-demographic data was collected to assess correlation with the level of knowledge using Logistic regression models, estimating the odds ratios(OR), 95% confidence intervals, and Psubjects were enrolled;with a median age of 61y. One hundred and thirty-four(34%) were patients with glaucoma, 152(38.6%)patients without glaucoma, and 108(27.4%) relatives of patients with glaucoma. Two hundred and ninety-one(73.9%) participants were aware of the term “glaucoma”.Regarding knowledge 46.7% had moderate knowledge,37.8% had poor knowledge, and 15.5% good ***, relatives of glaucoma patients had the highest scores, and patients without glaucoma got the lowest scores. A positive correlation was found between better knowledge and frequent ophthalmological examinations OR 2.24(P=0.02), higher education level OR 4.17(P=0.00) and having a family member with glaucoma OR 3.28(P=0.00).CONCLUsION: Awareness and knowledge of glaucoma in subjects attending an Ophthalmology Referral Center is predominantly moderate or poor. This has important implications regarding attitudes that can result in lack of follow up in ophthalmological care.
