Nature’s Pharmacy under siege: Investigating Antibiotic Resistance Pattern in Endophytic Bacteria of Medicinal Plants

Antibiotic resistance poses a significant global health threat, necessitating a thorough understanding of its prevalence in various ecological contexts. Medicinal plants, renowned for their therapeutic properties, host endophytic bacteria that produce bioactive compounds. Understanding antibiotic resistance dynamics in these bacteria is vital for human health and antibiotic efficacy preservation. In this study, we investigated antibiotic resistance profiles in endophytic bacteria from five medicinal plants: Thankuni, Neem, Aparajita, Joba, and snake plant. We isolated and characterized 113 endophytic bacteria, with varying resistance patterns observed against multiple antibiotics. Notably, 53 strains were multidrug-resistant (MDR), with 14 exhibiting extensive drug resistance (XDR). Thankuni-associated bacteria displayed 44% MDR and 11% XDR, while Neem-associated bacteria showed higher resistance (60% MDR, 13% XDR). Aparajita-associated bacteria had lower resistance (22% MDR, 6% XDR), whereas Joba-associated bacteria exhibited substantial resistance (54% MDR, 14% XDR). snake plant-associated bacteria showed 7% MDR and 4% XDR. Genus-specific distribution revealed Bacillus (47%), staphylococcus (21%), and Klebsiella (11%) as major contributors to MDR. Our findings highlight diverse drug resistance patterns among plant-associated bacteria and underscore the complexity of antibiotic resistance dynamics in diverse plant environments. Identification of XDR strains emphasizes the severity of the antibiotic resistance problem, warranting further investigation into contributing factors.

This paper describes a model of electron energization and cyclotron-maser emission applicable to astrophysical magnetized collisionless shocks. It is motivated by the work of Begelman, Ergun and Rees [Astrophys. J. 625, 51(2005)] who argued that the cyclotron-maser instability occurs in localized magnetized collisionless shocks such as those expected in blazar jets. We report on recent research carried out to investigate electron acceleration at collisionless shocks and maser radiation associated with the accelerated electrons. We describe how electrons accelerated by lower-hybrid waves at collisionless shocks generate cyclotron-maser radiation when the accelerated electrons move into regions of stronger magnetic fields. The electrons are accelerated along the magnetic field and magnetically compressed leading to the formation of an electron velocity distribution having a horseshoe shape due to conservation of the electron magnetic moment. Under certain conditions the horseshoe electron velocity distribution function is unstable to the cyclotron-maser instability [Bingham and Cairns, Phys. Plasmas 7, 3089(2000); Melrose, Rev. Mod. Plasma Phys. 1, 5(2017)].

This paper presents a group-based dynamic stuck-at fault diagnosis scheme intended for resistive randomaccess memory(ReRAM).Traditional static random-access memory,dynamic random-access memory,NAND,and NOR flash memory are limited by their scalability,power,package density,and so ***-generation memory types like ReRAMs are considered to have various advantages such as high package density,non-volatility,scalability,and low power consumption,but cell reliability has been a *** memory operation is caused by permanent stuck-at faults due to extensive use of write-or memory-intensive *** increased number of stuck-at faults also prematurely limit chip ***,a cellular automaton(CA)based dynamic stuck-at fault-tolerant design is proposed here to combat unreliable cell functioning and variable cell lifetime issues.A scalable,block-level fault diagnosis and recovery scheme is introduced to ensure readable data despite multi-bit stuck-at *** scheme is a novel approach because its goal is to remove all the restrictions on the number and nature of stuck-at faults in general fault *** proposed scheme is based on Wolfram’s null boundary and periodic boundary CA *** special classes of CAs are introduced for 100%fault tolerance:single-lengthcycle single-attractor cellular automata(sACAs),single-length-cycle two-attractor cellular automata(TACAs),and single-length-cycle multiple-attractor cellular automata(MACAs).The target micro-architectural unit is designed with optimal space overhead.

There has been more than 75%rise in the number of extreme weather events such as drought and flood during 2000-2019 compared to 1980-1999 due to the adverse effects of climate change,causing significant deterioration of the soil and water ***,the growing human population has been exerting pressure on available water and soil resources due to overuse or unplanned *** greenhouse gas emissions have intensified,the fertility of agricultural soils has declined globally due to the exposure of soils to frequent flooding,desertification,and salinization(resulting from extreme weather events).The current review aims to give an overview of damages caused to the soil-plant system by extreme weather events and provide a perspective on how biochar can repair the damaged *** is known to improve soil fertility,increase crop productivity and mitigate greenhouse gas emissions via sustainable recycling of *** properties of biochar such as alkaline pH,high cation exchange capacity,abundant surface functional groups,remarkable surface area,adequate porosity,excellent water holding capacity,and sufficient nutrient retention capacity can help repair the adverse effects of extreme weather events in the soil-plant *** paper recommends some cautious future approaches that can propel biochar’s use in improving the soil-plant systems and promoting sustainable functioning of extreme weather-affected areas via mitigation of the adverse effects.
