Detection of virulent strains of Helicobacter pylori and its relation to symptoms and signs in children

Objective:To detect the prevalence of Helicobacter polori(***) in a group of pediatric patients complaining of gastrointestinal disorders,and to identify the virulent strains of H. pylori and its relation to peptic ***:The study included 60 patients(41 males and 19 females),aged from 6 months to 14 years,with complaining of different gastrointestinal *** IgG antibodies were *** examination of the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum was done in all patients using a fibreoptic *** addition, gastric antral biopsies were taken for diagnosis of *** infection in the following test: rapid urease test,histopathologic examination and *** cytotoxin assay of virulent strains was *** infection was diagnosed if 3 or more tests for diagnosis were found to be ***:33 out of 60 patients(55%) was positive.12(20%) patients had positive toxin producing strains(virulent strains).Virulent strain had a significantly closer relationship with recurrent abdominal pain,while no difference was found in other symptoms. Age of patients showed a highly significant positive correlation with virulent *** strain. Histopathological finding revealed that oesophagitis was significandy common in patients with negative *** and histopathological findings revealed that virulent strain had a significandy higher gastritis and oesophagitis ***:Infection by virulent strains of *** in children is not uncommon:It is associated with endoscopic and histopathologic *** cases infected with virulent strain showed positive results by using rapid urease test,culture and IgG antibodies.

Physio-biochemical and nutrient constituents of peanut plants under bentazone herbicide for broad-leaved weed control and water regimes in dry land areas

The abundance of broad-leaved weeds in peanut fields represents the handicap in weed management programs, since limited specific herbicides can be recommended to control them. Moreover, the physio-biochemical constituents and nutritional status in peanut plants as affected by available herbicides, i.e., bentazone under water stress conditions are not well known. Therefore, field trials were conducted during the growing seasons in 2016 and 2017 to investigate the interactional impact of irrigation levels(I_(50), I_(75) and I_(100), representing irrigation by 50%, 75% and 100% of crop evapotranspiration, respectively) and weed control practices(bentazone, bentazone+hoeing once, hoeing twice and weedy check as control) on dominant broad-leaved weeds as well as peanut physiological and agronomic traits. Result indicated that the efficiency of weed control for each weeded treatment under I_(50) significantly equaled with its counterpart under I_(75) or I_(100). Bentazone+hoeing once diminished weed biomass by 89.3% and enhanced chlorophyll content of peanut plants by 51.2%. Bentazone relatively caused a reduction in carotenoides. Hoeing twice and bentazone+hoeing once under I_(100) in both growing seasons as well as hoeing twice under I_(75) in 2017 were the superior combinations for boosting pod yield of peanut plants. Treatment of bentazone+hoeing once and I_(75) recorded the lowest reduction in N utilization percentage and the highest increase in potassium utilization percentage of peanut plants. eliminating weeds enhanced water use efficiency by 37.8%, 49.6% and 34.7% under I_(50), I_(75) and I_(100), respectively. In conclusion, peanut seems to be tolerant to bentazone at moderate water supply, thus it can be safely used in controlling the associated broad-leaved weeds.

Tailored pancreatic reconstruction after pancreaticoduodenectomy: a single-center experience of 892 cases

BACKGROUND: Pancreatic reconstruction following pancreaticoduodenectomy(PD) is still debatable even for pancreatic surgeons. Ideally, pancreatic reconstruction after PD should reduce the risk of postoperative pancreatic fistula(POPF) and its severity if developed with preservation of both exocrine and endocrine pancreatic functions. It must be tailored to control the morbidity linked to the type of *** study was to show the best type of pancreatic reconstruction according to the characters of pancreatic stump. METHODs: We studied all patients who underwent PD in our center from January 1993 to December 2015. Patients were categorized into three groups depending on the presence of risk factors of postoperative complications: low-risk group(absent risk factor), moderate-risk group(presence of one risk factor) and high-risk group(presence of two or more risk factors). REsULTs: A total of 892 patients underwent PD for resection of periampullary tumor. BMI >25 kg/m~2, cirrhotic liver, soft pancreas, pancreatic duct diameter sterior edge sk variables for development of postoperative complications. POPF developed in 128(14.3%) patients. Delayed gastric emptying occurred in 164(18.4%) patients, biliary leakage developed in 65(7.3%) and pancreatitis presented in 20(2.2%). POPF in low-, moderate-and high-risk groups were 26(8.3%), 65(15.7%) and 37(22.7%) patients, respectively. Postoperative morbidity and mortality were significantly lower with pancreaticogastrostomy(PG) in high-risk group, while pancreaticojejunostomy(PJ) decreases incidence of postoperative steatorrhea in all groups. CONCLUsIONs: selection of proper pancreatic reconstruction according to the risk factors of patients may reduce POPF and postoperative complications and mortality. PG is superior to PJ as regards short-term outcomes in high-risk group but PJ provides better pancreatic function in all groups and therefore, PJ is superior in l

Characterization and Catalytic Activity of New Metal-organic Frameworks Resulted from self-assembly of Ph3snCI, K[Cu（CN）2] and Nitrogen Donor Ligands

Five new metal-organic frameworks （MOFs） of the general composition [Ph3snCu（CN）2.L], where L= pyrazine （pyz）（1）, methylpyrazine （mepyz）（2）, 4,4＇-bipyridine （bpy）（3）, trans-l,2-bis（4-pyridyl）ethene （tbpe）（4） or 1,2-bis（4-pyridyl）ethane （bpe）（5）, have been synthesized and characterized to test their potential applications as catalysts. The structures of the MOFs 1--5 mainly consist of Cu（CN）2 building blocks connected by the Ph3sn cations and the bipodal ligand forming polymeric networks. They exhibit strong fluorescence in the solid state. Also, they are used as heterogeneous catalysts for the degradation of azo-dyes, metanil yellow （MY） by diluted solution of hydrogen peroxide as oxidant. The reaction is first order with respect to MY dye, while the factors affecting the rate constant of the degradation reaction are investigated. The activation parameters of the reaction have been estimated and a possible mechanism has been proposed.

safety and effi cacy of hepatitis A vaccine in children with chronic liver diseas

AIM： To study the safety and efficacy of hepatitis A vaccine （HAV） in children with chronic liver disease of various etiologies. METHODs： eleven children with chronic liver disease and thirteen age- and sex-matched controls negative for HAV antibodies were vaccinated against hepatitis A after they gave their informed consent. Children with uncontrolled coagulopathy or signs of hepatic decompensation were excluded. The vaccine （Havrix： 720 elIsA units in 0.5 mL, from GlaxosmithKline Biologicals） was given intramuscularly in the deltoid in 2 doses 6 mo apart. Children were tested for HAV antibodies one and six months after the ist dose and one month after the 2^nd dose. Total serum bilirubin, alanine aminotransferase （ALT）, and aspartate aminotransferase （AsT） were determined immediately before and after one month of the 1st dose of the vaccine. REsULTs： Only 7 out of the 11 patients were positive for HAV antibodies after the 1^st dose of the vaccine, as compared to 100% of the controls. One month after the 2nd dose, all patients tested were positive for HAV antibodies. No deterioration in liver functions of patients was noted after vaccination. No adverse events, immediate or late, were reported by the mothers after each dose of the vaccine. CONCLUsION： Hepatitis A vaccine is both safe and effective in this small studied group of children with chronic liver disease. Given the high seroconversion rate, post-vaccination testing for HAV antibodies is not needed.

Determining the thermophysical properties of Al-doped ZnO nanoparticles by the photoacoustic technique

The thermal conductivity and specific heat capacity of undoped and Al-doped （1–10 at.%） ZnO nanoparticles prepared using the solvent thermal method are determined by measuring both thermal diffusivity and thermal effusivity of a pressed powder compact of the prepared nanoparticles by using the laser-induced photoacoustic technique. The impact of Al doping versus the microstructure of the samples on such thermal parameters has been investigated. The results reveal an obvious enhancement in the specific heat capacity when decreasing the particle size, while the effect of Al doping on the specific heat capacity is minor. The measured thermal conductivities are about one order of magnitude smaller than that of the bulk ZnO due to several nested reducing heat transfer mechanisms. The results also show that Al doping significantly influences the thermal resistance. Using a simple thermal impedance model, the added thermal resistance due to Al dopant has been estimated.

Paleoecology of Benthic Foraminifera in Coral Reefs Recorded in the Jurassic Tuwaiq Mountain Formation of the Khashm Al-Qaddiyah Area, Central saudi Arabia

Thirty three benthic foraminiferal species belong to 23 genera and 16 families have been recorded from the coral reefs of the Callovian Tuwaiq Formation, Khashm AI-Qaddiyah area, Central saudi Arabia. Three species： Astacolus qaddiyahensis, Nodosaria riyadhensis, siderolites jurassica are believed to be new. Nearly all identified foraminifera are of Atlantie-Miditeranean affinity. The foraminiferal assemblage recorded in the present work is mixed of open marine, moderately deep marine conditions associations and shallow to deep lagoon. The reefal part of upper Twiaq Formation may have been deposited in shallow water of lower to middle shelf depth （20-50 m） as indicated by abundant corals and benthic foraminifera. The coral fauna and bearing benthic foraminifera indicated moderate water energy.

Coinfection with hepatitis C virus and schistosomiasis:Fibrosis and treatment response

AIM:To assess whether schistosomiasis coinfection with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) influences hepatic fibrosis and pegylated-interferon/ribavirin (PEG-IFN/ RIB) therapy response. METHODs:This study was designed as a retrospective analysis of 3596 chronic HCV patients enrolled in the Egyptian National Program for HCV treatment with PEG-IFN/RIB. All patients underwent liver biopsy and anti-schistosomal antibodies testing prior to HCV treatment. The serology results were used to categorize the patients into group A (positive schistosomal serology) or group B (negative schistosomal serology). Patients in group A were given oral antischistosomal treatment(praziquantel, single dose) at four weeks prior to PEG-IFN/RIB. All patients received a 48-wk course of PEG-IFN (PEG-IFNα2a or PEG-IFNα2b)/RIB therapy. Clinical and laboratory follow-up examinations were carried out for 24 wk after cessation of therapy (to week 72). Correlations of positive schistosomal serology with fibrosis and treatment response were assessed by multiple regression analysis. REsULTs:schistosomal antibody was positive in 27.3% of patients (15.9% females and 84.1% males). The patients in group A were older (P = 0.008) and had a higher proportion of males (P = 0.002) than the patients in group B. There was no significant association between fibrosis stage and positive schistosomal serology (P = 0.703). Early virological response was achieved in significantly more patients in group B than in group A (89.4% vs 86.5%, P = 0.015). However, significantly more patients in group A experienced breakthrough at week 24 than patients in group B (36.3% vs 32.3%, P = 0.024). This paper introduces an Improved RC6(IRC6)cipher for data encryption based on data-dependent *** proposed scheme is designed with the potential of meeting the needs of the Advanced Encryption standard(AEs).Four parameters are used to characterize the proposed *** parameters are the size of the word(w)in bits,the number of rounds(r),the length of the secret key(b)in bytes,and the size of the block(L)in *** main feature of IRC6 is the variable number of working registers instead of just four registers as in RC6,resulting in a variable block size for plaintext and *** IRC6 cipher is designed to improve the robustness against attacks by increasing the diffusion for each round and providing greater security with fewer *** effectiveness of the proposed IRC6 scheme is verified against theoretical *** proposed IRC6 scheme depends on full diffusion and confusion mechanisms regardless of the utilized block *** proposed IRC6 scheme saves 70%of the encryption time and 64%of the decryption time of *** simulation results prove that the IRC6 achieves a better encryption/decryption time compared to the ***,the proposed IRC6 is anticipated to fulfill the market needs and system security requirements.
