La Cantera Oriente is a shallow freshwater volcanic water body located at an altitude of 2 270 m above sea level in the Ecological Reserve of san Angel Pedregal of Mexico City （Mexico）. In order to ensure the conservation of its biological heritage including zooplankton, the present work was undertaken to quantify the seasonal changes in the diversity and density of rotifers and the selected physico- chemical variables during 2013-2014. Qualitative analysis of the zooplankton samples yielded 68 rotifer species which represented 24 genera in 15 families. Brachionus calyciflorus Pallas, 1766, B. quadridentatus Hermann, 1783, Polyarthra vulgaris Carlin, 1943, Lecane closterocerca （schmarda, 1859） and Keratella cochlearis （Gosse, 1851） were the most common species. Preston plots of species frequency-density revealed that as many as 30% of the rotifer taxa were dominant throughout the year. The species with high population densities were Brachionus quadridentatus, Lecane closterocerca, Keratella cochlearis, and Lepadellapatella; their peak densities were 2 000, 1 000, 180 and 90 ind./L, all occurring in summer. Canonical correspondence analys.s.s.owed that Platyias quadricornis was related to the concentration of phosphates available in the environment and the conductivity, while B. quadridentatus was positively correlated with chlorophyll-a. The trophic status of the lake was eutrophic based on Chl-a content but oligotrophic with relation to the Braehionus： Trichocerca ratio.

Let G be a finite group. For k ∈ N, X ∈ Irr（G）, define c（k）x ：= 1/G ∑g∈G x（gk）. This is called the k-th Frobenius-schur indicator of X. In this article we study the Probenius-schur indicators for Frobenius groups, p-groups, semidihedral groups and mod- ular p-groups. Further, we use this to study the function ζ kG（g） which counts the number of roots of xk = g in a finite group G.

Application of RP-HPLC method in dissolution testing and statistical evaluation by NAssAM for simultaneous estimation of tertiary combined dosages forms

A dissolution method with robust high performance liquid chromatographic （HPLC） analysis for im- mediate release tablet formulation was developed and validated to meet the requirement as per Inter- national Conference on Harmonization （ICH） and United states Food and Drug Administration （UsFDA） guidelines. The method involved the use of Agilent ZORBAX Eclipse XDB C18 column, and temperature was maintained at 30 ℃. After optimization, the mobile phase was selected as phosphate buffer （KH2PO4, 30 mM）： ACN （60：40, v/v） with pH 3.0, and retention time Rt was found as 3.24, 4.16, and 2.55 min for paracetamol （PCM）, chlorpheniramine maleate （CPM） and phenylephrine hydrochloride （PH） respec- tively at 265 nm and at a flow rate of 1 mL/min. The relative standard deviation （%RsD） for 6 replicate measurements was found to be less than 2%. Furthermore net analyte signal standard addition method （NAssAM） with spectrophotometer was performed for standard and liquid oral suspension. On the basis of selectivity, sensitivity and accuracy analysis, it was confirmed that this novel method could be useful for simultaneous estimation of the given drug combinations. Two-way analysis of variance （ANOVA） was applied for evaluating the statistical difference between the assay results obtained via both NAssAM and RP-HPLC methods and ultimately no significant difference was found between both the methods. All the methods and results were acceptable and confirmed that the method was suitable for intended use.

Using yttrium as an indicator to estimate total rare earth element concentration:a case study of anthracite-associated clays from northeastern Pennsylvania

This study demonstrated using yttrium(Y)as an indicator to estimate the total rare earth element and Y contents(REY)in coal-associated samples and to facilitate selection of samples with high REY assays in a fast and inexpensive *** than 10 anthracite-associated samples were collected from each of three Pennsylvanian sites(sites B,J and C)based on Thorium gamma ray logging suggesting high REY *** samples from each site were analyzed by ICP-Ms to determine the rare earth distribution patterns and to establish the site-specific linear equations of Y and *** Y contents of the remaining samples were measured by a portable X-ray fluorescence analyzer,and the REY values were estimated based on the site-specific linear equation developed earlier.R-squared values above 0.70 were obtained for all the estimation equations from all three sites on both a whole sample basis and an ash ***,ash content has been widely used as an indicator of high REY *** may not be applicable for a specific *** B in this study is an example where ash contents could not be statistically correlated with REY,so using Y for estimation is more *** demonstrated sample screening process is suitable for samples from sites that share more similar distribution patterns(either MREY or LREY or HREY)as well as for samples from sites that share multiple distribution patterns(LREY/MREY/HREY)depending on the desirable *** demonstrated process lowers the analytical cost from$70 to 80 dollars per sample to$10-15 per sample while significantly reducing the processing time and acid consumption for ICP *** is particularly true when a relatively large sample size is involved,for example,100 samples from one site analyzed by ICP-Ms/OEs.

Due to industrial activities,heavy metal concentrations in aquatic systems of Mexico,are on the ***,particularly rotifers,being sensitive and common components of freshwater,are widely used in ecotoxicological tests for establishing water quality *** on the route of exposure(*** medium or algal food),the toxicity of heavy metals *** the present study we evaluated the effect of cadmium and mercury exposed through medium and via algal food for the rotifer *** both the heavy metals,we exposed rotifers via medium containing Chlorella at 0.5×10^(6)cells/ml or fed daily on previously exposed(1,2 and 4 h)alga to the toxicants(using 5 times the value of LC_(50)for ***).For cadmium toxicity through medium,we used 3 toxicant levels(0.1,0.2 and 0.4 mg/L)and for mercury,we used 0.005,0.010 and 0.015 mg/*** on the LC_(50),*** was 24 times more sensitive to mercury(0.035±0.002 mg/L)than *** a concentration of 0.4 mg/L,cadmium through the medium caused increased lag phase of *** grown on Chlorella exposed for different durations to cadmium,the rotifer density decreased with the increasing duration of algal exposure to the heavy *** mercury was used in the medium or via algal food,the trends in the population growth of *** were similar to those for *** increase in heavy metal concentration in the medium resulted in a decrease of the rate of population increase per day(r).The r varied from 0.33(in control)to 0.02 d^(-1)(in heavy metal treatment)depending on the mode of exposure though medium or via algal food.

This is a multidimensional review of mangrove fungi occurring as saprobes,pathogens and endophytes of a wide range of host substrates and those isolated from the water columns and sediments in ***-hundred and fifty taxa including 658 that are supported by both morphology and molecular data and 192 with only morphological data are *** constitute Ascomycota,the dominant group with 773 species,and 58 Basidiomycota,one Blastocladiomycota,five Chytridiomycota,and 13 *** study also includes data on mangrove yeasts 103 Ascomycota,39 Basidi-omycota and 193 taxa isolated from *** isolated from submerged parts of mangrove plants total *** most specious orders of mangrove fungi are Pleosporales 133,saccharomycetales 102,Microascales 101,Eurotiales 87,Hypocreales 60 and Xylariales *** genera include Candida 39,Aspergillus 53,Penicillium 17 and Corollospora *** highest number of mangrove fungi have been recorded from the Pacific Ocean 553,which is the largest ocean,followed by Indian 408 and Atlantic Oceans *** distribution of mangrove fungi varied from ocean to ocean with only 109 taxa common to the Atlantic,Indian and Pacific *** the various countries reported for mangrove fungi,India accommodates the highest number(339)followed by Thailand 303,Malaysia 171,Florida Everglades,UsA 134 and Brunei 134.A total of 60 different mangrove plants and their associates have been surveyed for mangrove *** results are discussed and compared with previous studies.

Comparison of conventional and supported liquid extraction methods for the determination of sitagliptin and simvastatin in rat plasma by LC-EsI-Ms/Ms

Three extraction methods were compared for their efficiency to analyze sitagliptin and simvastatin in rat plasma by LC-Ms/Ms, including （1） liquid-liquid extraction （LLE）, （2） solid phase extraction （sPE） and （3） supported liquid extraction （sLE）. Comparison of recoveries of analytes with different extraction methods revealed that sLE was the best extraction method. The detection was facilitated with ion trap-mass spectrometer by multiple reactions monitoring （MRM） in a positive ion mode with EsI. The transitions monitored were m./z 441.1→325.2 for simvastatin, 408.2→235.1 for sitagliptin and 278.1→260.1 for the Is. The lower limit of quantification （LLOQ） was 0.2 ng/mL for sitagliptin and 0.1 ng/mL for simvastatin. The effective sLE offers enhanced chromatographic selectivity, thus facilitating the potential utility of the method for routine analysis of biological samples along with pharmacokinetic studies.

Dynamic characterization of the migration of a mining pit in an alluvial channel

Research on in-channel sand mining is imperative as it may have a significant impact on channel *** this quest to quantitatively comprehend the phenomenon,experimental studies were done to investigate the dynamic characteristics of the migration of a mining *** evaluation of the migration rate of a mining pit in a physical scale model has found a rise in the migration rate of the pit's upstream edge with increasing discharge.A wavelet analysis applied for analyzing scale-dependent migration of the bed profile of a mining pit also revealed similar ***,the wavelet analysis examined the length-scale dependent migration of a mining pit and a decrease in the migration rate has been observed with an increase in the length *** plan form of a pit(length-to-width ratio)governs the erosion and deposition processes around the *** physical and statistical approaches show an increase in the migration rate with an increase in the length-to-width ratio of the *** empirical formulation has been developed for calculating the migration rate of the upstream edge of a mining pit based on pit geometry(length-to-width ratio),average flow velocity,and critical shear stress of the bed *** results also show a higher bed load transport rate in the channel subjected to mining as compared to a plain bed channel.
