Background:Newly diagnosed breast cancer patients experience symptoms that may affect their quality of life,treatment outcomes,and *** and managing breast cancer-related symptoms soon after diagnosis is *** purpose of this study was to investigate the associations between health-related fitness(HrF)and patient-reported symptoms in newly diagnosed breast cancer ***:This study utilized baseline data from the Alberta Moving Beyond Breast Cancer Cohort study that were collected within 90 days of *** measures included peak cardiopulmonary fitness(peak volume of oxygen consumption(VO_(2peak))),maximal muscular strength and endurance,flexibility,and body *** measures included depression,sleep quality,and *** multivariable logistic regression was performed for ***:Of 1458 participants,51.5%reported poor sleep quality,26.5%reported significant fatigue,and 10.4%reported moderate *** multivariable-adjusted models,lower relative VO_(2peak)was independently associated with a greater likelihood of all symptom measures,including moderate depression(pr sleep quality(p=0.009),significant fatigue(p=0.008),any symptom(psymptoms(pstrated threshold associations with all symptom measures such that all 3 lower quartiles exhibited similar elevated risk compared to the highest *** strength of the threshold associations varied by the symptom measure with odds ratios ranging from-1.5 for poor sleep quality to-3.0 for moderate depression and multiple ***,lower relative upper body muscular endurance was also independently associated with fatigue in a dose-response manner(p=0.001),and higher body weight was independently associated with poor sleep quality in an inverted U pattern(p=0.021).Conclusion:relative VO_(2peak)appears to be a critical HrF component associated with multiple patient-reported symptoms in newly diag

We report the design, fabrication, and characterization of a universal silicon PN junction ring resonator for C band error-free communication links operated up to 50 Gb/s with co-designed optical modulation and detection performance. The universal p-n junction ring device shows co-designed detection responsivity up to 0.84 A/W, in conjunction with a modulation efficiency of -4 V·mm and>8 d B optical modulation extinction ratio, enabling C band 50 Gb/s NrZ communication link with a bit error rate≤3×10^(-12).

silicon-based electro-optic modulators contribute to easing the integration of high-speed and low-power consumption circuits for classical optical communications and data *** the plasma dispersion modulation,an alternative solution in silicon is to exploit the DC Kerr effect,which generates an equivalent linear electro-optical effect enabled by applying a large DC electric *** some theoretical and experimental studies have shown its existence in silicon,limited contributions relative to plasma dispersion have been achieved in high-speed modulation so *** paper presents high-speed optical modulation based on the DC Kerr effect in silicon PIN *** contributions of both plasma dispersion and Kerr effects have been analyzed in different waveguide configurations,and we demonstrated that the Kerr induced modulation is dominant when a high external DC electric field is applied in PIN ***-speed optical modulation response is analyzed,and eye diagrams up to 80 Gbit/s in NrZ format are obtained under a *** of 30 *** work paves the way to exploit the Kerr effect to generate high-speed Pockels-like optical modulation.

Predicting the synthesizability of crystalline inorganic materials from the data of known material compositions

reliably identifying synthesizable inorganic crystalline materials is an unsolved challenge required for realizing autonomous materials *** this work,we develop a deep learning synthesizability model(synthNN)that leverages the entire space of synthesized inorganic chemical *** reformulating material discovery as a synthesizability classification task,synthNN identifies synthesizable materials with 7×higher precision than with DFT-calculated formation *** a head-to-head material discovery comparison against 20 expert material scientists,synthNN outperforms all experts,achieves 1.5×higher precision and completes the task five orders of magnitude faster than the best human ***,without any prior chemical knowledge,our experiments indicate that synthNN learns the chemical principles of charge-balancing,chemical family relationships and ionicity,and utilizes these principles to generate synthesizability *** development of synthNN will allow for synthesizability constraints to be seamlessly integrated into computational material screening workflows to increase their reliability for identifying synthetically accessible materials.

Liver resection plays a central role in the curative-intent treatment of both primary and metastatic liver *** small,peripheral tumors can often be extirpated with non-anatomic limited resections,larger,centrally located lesions and certain histologies may require extended hepatectomies with biliary and/or vascular *** complex liver resections constitute some of most challenging operations performed by hepatopancreatobiliary(HPB)surgeons.A classic example is extended hemihepatectomy with bile duct and caudate lobe resection for perihilar cholangiocarcinoma,which is associated with short-term mortality rates exceeding 15%in some series(1,2).

The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron Collider,as standard Model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAs Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAs *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

Laboratory results of foam application testing for longwall shield dust control in a simulated environment

There were 37 longwall faces operating in mines in the United states in *** average panel width for these longwalls was approximately 368.5 m(1209 ft).This translates to a range of approximately 170-240 shields per longwall,depending upon the width of *** movement of longwall shields is a significant contributor to respirable dust overexposures to longwall *** is expected to have the potential to reduce this shield dust *** foam is applied to the area on the roof between the coal face and the shield tip after the shearer *** this study,the longwall shield dust simulator was used to test three foam agents for their ability to control dust from longwall shield *** showed that at low-velocity ventilation(≈3.0 m/s(600 fpm))all foam agents were able to produce dust reduction levels of at least 45%.At high-velocity ventilation(≈5.1 m/s(1000 fpm)),the reductions were lower and more variable,ranging from being undeterminable for one foam agent to having 46%-63%reductions for the other two foam agents,with one instance of an increase in dust ***,the use of foam agents can provide longwall shield dust *** factors are roof coverage and the ability of foam to remain on the roof for extended time periods.

A field study of a roof bolter canopy air curtain(2nd generation)for respirable coal mine dust control

A 2nd generation roof bolter canopy air curtain(CAC)design was tested by National Institute for Occupational safety and Health(NIOsH)at a Midwestern underground coal *** the study,the roof bolter never operated downwind of the continuous *** a combination of personal Data rams(pDr)and gravimetric samplers,the dust control efficiency of the roof bolter CAC was *** evaluation was determined using three methods:(1)comparing roof bolter operator concentrations underneath the CAC to roof bolter concentrations outside the CAC,(2)comparing roof bolter operator concentrations underneath the CAC to the concentrations at the rear of the bolter,and finally,(3)using the gravimetric data directly underneath the CAC to correct roof bolter operator concentrations underneath the CAC and comparing them to the concentrations at the rear of the *** 1 dust control efficiencies ranged from 53.9%to 60.4%.Method 2 efficiencies ranged from 150.5%to 52.2%,and Method 3 efficiencies ranged from 40.7%to 91%.reasons for negative and low dust control efficiencies are provided in this paper and include:incorrect sampling locations,large distance between CAC and operator,and contamination of intake air from line *** dust concentrations encountered during the testing made it difficult to discern whether differences in concentrations were due to the CAC or due to variances inherent in experimental dust ***,the analyses,especially the Method 3 analysis,show that the CAC can be an effective dust control device.

The phylogeography of the Kaloula genus in East Asia is still poorly *** of the difficulties is the absence of fossils to corroborate molecular dating ***,we examined the mitochondrial structure of Kaloula *** East Asia and focused on the impact of glaciations on the northernmost species:Kaloula *** determined the phylogenetic relationships,molecular dating,and genetic connectivity assessments within the genus from 1211 bp of concatenated mitochondrial 12s and *** relaxed clock analyses reveal the emergence of Kaloula *** ancestor in East and southeast Asia between the Eocene and Oligocene,c.38.47 Ma(24.69–53.65).The genetic diversification of lineages then increased on the East Asian Mainland during the Lower Miocene,c.20.10(8.73–30.65),most likely originating from the vicariance and radiation triggered by the orogeny of the Qinghai–Tibetan ***,the dispersal towards the North East Asian Mainland during the Upper Miocene drove the population diversification of *** c.9.01 Ma(3.66–15.29).Finally,the central mainland population became isolated following orogenesis events and diverged into *** during the Pliocene,c.3.06 Ma(0.02–10.90).The combination of population genetic and barrier analyses revealed a significant genetic isolation between populations of Kaloula *** with the massive Qinling–Daba Mountain chain located in south-central ***,we highlight a young divergence within the Eastern Mainland population of ***,possibly attributed to refugia in south eastern China from which populations later expanded.
