Effect of multilayer CrN/CrAlN coating on the corrosion and contact resistance behavior of 316L ss bipolar plate for high temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cell

stainless steels have received wide attention as a substitute material for bipolar plates in high temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cell(HT-PEMFC).In the present work,the CrN,CrAlN and multilayer CrN/CrAlN coatings were deposited on 316 L ss to increase the corrosion resistance and decrease the interfacial contact *** deposited coatings exhibited face centered cubic phase structure and it was verified from the X-ray diffraction pattern.X-ray photo electron spectroscopy results showed the formation of both CrN and CrAlN layers on 316 L ***/CrAlN coating is more helpful in water management due to low surface roughness and high contact angle in the HT-PEMFC *** corrosion resistance behavior of all the samples were studied in 85%H_(3)PO_(4)solution at 140℃purged with H_(2)(HT-PEMFC anode)and O_(2)(HT-PEMFC cathode)*** results showed that all the coatings considerably improved the performance of 316 L ss and superior corrosion resistance was observed for CrN/CrAlN multilayer coating,whose protective efficiency was 98.12%and 96.14%in the two simulated HT-PEMFC *** results of electrochemical impedance spectroscopic studies demonstrated higher impedance for CrN/CrAlN *** morphological studies performed after corrosion studies revealed that protection ability of CrN/CrAlN coating still remained acceptable.A very low interfacial contact resistance value of 6 mΩ cm^(2) at 140 N/cm;was observed for CrN/CrAlN ***,after corrosion studies,the interfacial contact resistance value of CrN/CrAlN coated 316 L was much lower than that of CrN and CrAlN coatings due to the increased oxidation *** maximum power density of about 0.93 W/cm^(2) at 2 A/cm^(2) and output voltage of 0.96 V was observed for CrN/CrAlN coating.

The management of localized breast cancer has changed dramatically over the past three to four *** therapy,which involved lumpectomy followed by adjuvant irradiation,is now widely considered the standard of care in women with early-stage breast *** partial breast irradiation(APBI),which involves focal irradiation of the lumpectomy cavity over a short period of time,has developed over the past two decades as an alternative to whole breast irradiation(WBI).Multiple APBI modalities have been developed including brachytherapy,external beam irradiation,and intraoperative *** new technigues have provided early-stage breast cancer patients with shorter treatment duration and more focused irradiation,delivering very high biological doses to the region at a high risk of failures over a much shorter treatment course as compared with conventional ***,the advantages of APBI over conventional radiotherapy are controversial,including a higher risk of complications reported in retrospective literature and shorter follow-up duration in the intraoperative APBI ***,APBI presents a valuable alternative to WBI for a selected population of women with early-stage breast cancer.

We are concerned with a model of ionic polymer-metal composite(IPMC)materials that consists of a coupled system of the Poisson and Nernst-Planck equations,discretized by means of the finite element method(FEM).We show that due to the transient character of the problem it is efficient to use adaptive algorithms that are capable of changing the mesh dynamically in *** also show that due to large qualitative and quantitative differences between the two solution components,it is efficient to approximate them on different meshes using a novel adaptive multimesh *** study is accompanied with numerous computations and comparisons of the adaptive multimesh hp-FEMwith several other adaptive FEM algorithms.

streptomyces ghanaensis VITHM1 mediated green synthesis of silver nanoparticles： Mechanism and biological applications

We present the microbial green synthesis of silver nanoparticles （hiPs） by streptomyces ghanaensis VITHM1 strain （MTCC No. 12465）. The secondary metabolites in the cell free supernatant of this bacterium when incubated with 1 mmol/L AgNO3, mediated the biological synthesis of AgNPs. The synthesized AgNPs were characterized by UV-visible spectrum, X-ray diffrac- tion （XRD）, atomic force microscope, scanning electron microscopy equipped with energy dispersive spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, FT-IR spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering and zeta potential. They were highly stable and, spherical in shape with the average size of 30-50 nm. The secondary metabolites involved in the formation of AgNPs were identified gas chromatographymass spectrography. The 3D structure of the unit cell of the synthesized AgNPs was determined using XRD data base. The synthesized AgNPs exhibited significant antibacterial activity against tested bacterial pathogens, and did not show haemolysis on human red blood cells. This green synthesis could provide a new platform to explore and use AgNPs as antibacterial therapeutic agents.

Controlling Tendons to Modulate stiffness of a Planar-to-spatial Tendon-Driven Continuum manipulator Under External Uncertain Forces

Continuum manipulators(CM)are soft and flexible manipulators with large numbers of degrees of freedom and can perform complex tasks in an unstructured ***,their deformability and compliance can deviate distal tip under uncertain external *** address this challenge,a novel tension-based control scheme has been proposed to modulate the stiffness of a tendon-driven CM,reducing the tip position errors caused by uncertain external *** minimize the tip position error,a virtual spring is positioned between the deviated and the desired tip *** proposed algorithm corrects the manipulator deviated tip position,improving tension distribution and stiffness profile,resulting in higher stiffness and better *** corresponding task space stiffness and condition numbers are also computed under different cases,indicating the effectiveness of the tension control scheme in modulating the manipulator's *** validation conducted on an in-house developed prototype confirms the practical feasibility of the proposed approach.

Aerodynamic Characteristics of Conventional and Innovative High Lift swept Wings

The new bird inspired wing sweep was introduced and compared with straight and conventional swept wings in gliding flight by an experimental test setup. Due to the similarity with the birds, wing, all test models have s1223 airfoil. swept models inspired from the bird consist of two parts: the straight part near the root and the swept part near the tip. Aerodynamic forces on each wing were measured from 0° to 24° angles of attack and Reynolds numbers of 4.3×10^4, 8.6×10^4, 1.3×10^5, and 1.7× 10^5. Wind tunnel test results show that wings with an innovative sweep at α> 0 have more lift for Reynolds numbers between 4.3× 10^4 and 8.6×10^4. Also, innovative sweep increases the stall angle, and the wing did not stall until α = 24° for Reynolds between 1.3×10^5 and 1.7×10^5. An increase in lift and having sufficient aerodynamic performance in low Reynolds numbers for birds' inspired wing sweep in gliding flight may be the answer to why the wing sweep of birds is not like conventional sweeps.

Chemotherapy in non-small cell lung cancer: opportunities for advancement

Locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer(NsCLC) continues to be a challenging disease to treat. With high rates of both local and distant failures, there is signiicant interest in inding more biologically active chemotherapy regimens that can contribute to reduce both failures. The phase III PROCLAIM trial, recently published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology entitled "PROCLAIM: randomized phase III trial of pemetrexed–cisplatin or etoposide–cisplatin plus thoracic radiation therapy followed by consolidation chemotherapy in locally advanced nonsquamous non-small-cell lung cancer", compared two diferent chemotherapy regimens given concurrently with radiotherapy in patients with stage III non-squamous lung cancer: pemetrexed plus cisplatin versus cisplatin plus etoposide. Both groups received consolidation chemotherapy. After enrolling 598 of planned 600 patients, the study was stopped early due to futility as no diference was seen in the primary end-point of overall survival. since PROCLAIM was designed as a superiority trial, these results suggest that pemetrexed regimens do not ofer a clinical advantage over standard cisplatin plus etoposide. There are some subpopulations who might still beneit from pemetrexed, especially if clinicians are concerned about myelosuppression-related adverse events. Future trials are needed to investigate novel biologic agents and irradiation techniques that can result in more durable local and distant disease control in locally advanced NsCLC.
