The CAsTRIp* process.p.oduces a range of high strength Ultra-thin Cast strip (UCs) products (380-550 Mpa) in thicknesses between 0.9 mm and 1.5 mm, which is very challenging to produce via conventional hot and cold rolled processing routes. The twin roll CAsTRIp process fully exploits the hardenability and strengthening potential of Nb in a low C-Mn-Nb-V microalloyed steel type. significant microstructural strengthening from solute Nb was obtained, even at low microalloying levels, as well as modest Mn additions, through enhancing the hardenability and further strengthening was obtained in coated products by exploiting age hardening during processing on a continuous hot dip galvanising line. Atom probe tomography and TEM determined that Nb was retained in solid solution and subsequent age hardening resulted from the formation of Nb and V rich nanosized particles. Age hardening was achieved without loss of ductility producing galvanised strip with an excellent strength-ductility combination (Y.s. >600 Mpa, T.E. >10%).

Additive Manufacturing (AM) of metals allows the production of parts with complex designs, offeringadvanced properties if the evolution of the texture can be controlled. 17-4 precipitation hardening (pH)stainless steel is a high strength, high corrosion resistance alloy used in a range of industries suitable forAM, such as aerospace and marine. Despite 17-4 pH being one of the most common steels for AM, thereare still gaps in the understanding of its AM processing–structure relationships. These include the natureof the matrix phase, as well as the development of texture through AM builds under different processingconditions. We have investigated how changing the laser power and scanning strategy affects the microstructure of 17-4 pH during laser powder bed fusion. It is revealed that the matrix phase is δ-ferritewith a limited austenite presence, mainly in regions of the microstructure immediately below melt *** fraction is independent of the printing pattern and laser power. However, reducing the timebetween adjacent laser passes during printing results in an increase in the austenite volume *** effect of the higher laser power, as well as additional remelting within the printing strategy, isan increase in the average grain size by epitaxial ferrite grain growth across multiple build layers andthe development of a mosaic type microstructure. Changes to the scanning strategy have significant impacts on the textures observed along the build direction, while (100) texture along the scanning directionis observed consistently. Mechanisms for texture formation and the mosaic structure are proposed thatpresents a pathway to the design of texture via AM process control.

During a toxicological test using diis.p.opyl methylphosphonate (DIMp) on mallards, an anaesthesia-like response was noted after oral dosing. In order to further elucidate these effects, arterial blood pressures were determined both pre-and post-dosing on adit male and female mallards by cannulation of the left carotid artery. A significant decrease in systolic, diastolic, and mean blood pressure was noted after the oral administration of DIMp. There was no significant difference in response between males and females. During the first 30 min after dosing, systolic pressure fell from an average of 158 mmHg, to 94 mmHg, diastolic decreased from 127 mmHg to 63 mmHg, and mean blood pressure dropped from 138 mmHg to 75 mmHg. However, there was no significant effect on pulse pressure, heart rate, or respiratory rate. These results are compared to physiological data cited in the literature for various CNs-acting drugs on mallards.

We fed adult mink diets containing s.p.lemental iodine, from 0 to 320 ppm, for one or seven months.p.ior to breeding. Blood samples collected from the adults and their offspring (kits) at 4 wk post-partum were assayed for total thyroxine (T4), triiodothyronine (T3), reverse T3 (rT3), and T4-binding indices. As expected T4 concentrations of the adult and kit mink varied inversely with the level of s.p.lemental iodine. In addition, T3 and rT3 concentrations decreased gradually in kits from the long-term experiment in response to the increased dietary iodine of the dams. T3 concentrations of kits from dams fed iodine short-term decreased markedly while rTy concentrations were elevated greatly in response to increased dietary iodine of the dam. These decreases in hormone levels are due to serum iodine blocking the thyroid uptake of iodine and subsequent decrease of hormone synthesis. Excess iodine may also block the effect of thyroid stimulating hormone. The T4-binding indices of the adults, in general, were depressed, while the T4-binding indices of the kits were more variable. These effects are probably due to fluctuations in thyroglobulin.

＜正＞Low carbon ferritic steels have been researched extensively in the 1950 and 1960’s for ambient temperature structural applications. Elements such as vanadium （V）, molybdenum （Mo）, and manganese （Mn） are strong carbide formers and the precipitation of such carbides is known to strongly affect the properties of *** work aims to develop a new approach for strengthening ferrite associated with the early stages of age-hardening. The ageing behavior of four low carbon （- 0.01 wt %） ferritic steels with and without the additions of Mn, Mo and V was studied. The alloys were solution heat treated in the fully austenitic （γ） region at 1050°C for Fe-C and Fe-C-Mn and at about 1285°C for Fe-C-V and Fe-C-Mo quenched into water to produce a completely ferritic （α） matrix, then held at 700 -730℃for ferrite saturation, and subsequently aged at 550℃to facilitate substantial strengthening through precipitation hardening. Two peaks were observed on the age-hardening curve: the initial rise at 30 sec of ageing at 550℃and then a peak hardness where hardness values corresponded to approximately six times that of the as quenched values for the Fe-Cr-Mo and Fe-Cr-V steels and three times for Fe-C and Fe-C-Mn steels. The ratio between the peak hardenss values and the rapid hardness values was-3:1.A minituarised technique - shear punch testing was employed to investigate the mechanical performance of these alloys at various ageing times of significance. A technique of shear punch testing allows to utilize small amounts of material and then to correlate the results to ultimate tensile strength （UTs） and yield strength. In this study the variation of UTs, yield strength and elongation was found to be consistent in all four steels in the early stages of precipitation-hardening. An optimum combination of strength and ductility was achieved at the initial rapid-hardening stage and not at peak hardness ageing time.

This.p.per describes the development of a monitoring system capable of detecting the concentration of magnesium ions(Mg^(2+)) released during the degradation of magnesium implants. The system consists of a microdialysis.p.obe that samples fluid adjacent to the implant and a catalytic biosensor specific to Mg^(2+)ions. The biosensor was fabricated on a cotton fabric platform, in which a mixture of glycerol kinase and glycerol-3-phosphate oxidase enzymes was immobilized on the fabric device via a simple matrix entrapment technique of the cotton fibers. pure magnesium was used as the implant material. subsequently, the concentration of ions released from the degradation of the magnesium specimen in ringer's solution was evaluated using cyclic voltammetry technique. The device demonstrated a pseudo-linear response from 0.005 to 0.1 mmol L^(-1) with a slope of 67.48 μA mmol^(-1) L. Detectable interfering species were lesser than 1%indicating a high selectivity of the fabric device. Furthermore,the device requires only 3 μL of fluid sample to complete the measurement compared to spectroscopic method(±50 μL),hence providing a higher temporal resolution and reduced sampling time. The system could potentially provide a real time assessment of the degradation behavior, a new studied aspect in biodegradable metals research.
