Low-electrode capacitive deionization(FCDI)is an emerging desalination technology with great potential for removal and/or recycling ions from a range of ***,it still suffers from inefficient charge transfer and ion transport kinetics due to weak turbulence and low electric intensity in flow electrodes,both restricted by the current ***,a new tip-array current collector(designated as T-CC)was developed to replace the conventional planar current collectors,which intensifies both the charge transfer and ion transport *** effects of tip arrays on flow and electric fields were studied by both computational simulations and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy,which revealed the reduction of ion transport barrier,charge transport barrier and internal *** the voltage increased from 1.0 to 1.5 and 2.0 V,the T-CC-based FCDI system(T-FCDI)exhibited average salt removal rates(AsRR)of 0.18,0.50,and 0.89μmol cm^(-2) min^(-1),respectively,which are 1.82,2.65,and 2.48 folds higher than that of the conventional serpentine current collectors,and 1.48,1.67,and 1.49 folds higher than that of the planar current ***,with the solid content in flow electrodes increased from 1 to 5 wt%,the AsRR for T-FCDI increased from 0.29 to 0.50μmol cm^(-2) min^(-1),which are 1.70 and 1.67 folds higher than that of the planar current ***,a salt removal efficiency of 99.89%was achieved with T-FCDI and the charge efficiency remained above 95%after 24 h of operation,thus showing its s.p.rior long-term stability.

small dams/reservoirs site location analysis in a semi-arid region of Mozambique

The water crisis is one of the biggest human problems in developing countries,especially in semi-arid regions where it can form an obstacle to irrigation and cultivation,cattle raising and people's *** construction of small dams/reservoirs are a possible solution to remediate this *** infrastructures must be located in suitable areas to be *** study aimed to find the most suitable locations for small dams/reservoirs in the Tete province region,Mozambique,which has a pronounced water deficit A Geographical Information system(GIs)based approach was used to implement a multicriteria evaluation(MCE)analysis through an Analytic Hierarchical process(AHp),which included local experts’*** main categories of suitability were identified:"Not suitable”(15%of total area),"Modestly suitable"(78%),and“suitable"(7%).We found that 35 of the 38(92%)abandoned small dams/reservoirs were in areas classified as“Modestly suitable”confirming the robustness of our *** also found that most of the dams/reservoirs currently operating(78%)and planned(73%)are in modestly suitable *** finding suggests that the decision to construct dams/reservoirs may not have considered the most critical suitability factors identified in this *** data and/or additional criteria are required for the full understanding of finding out why so many dams/reservoirs failed before building new ones to address the population’s water needs in the region.

Nuclear Minerals.p.ants in Brazil—Case studies

This.p.per presents the process flow sheet of the main nuclear industrial units in Brazil and discusses some solvent extraction technical s.p.ort required for these plants. The Center for the Development of Nuclear Technology-CDTN has been investigating alternative ways to s.p.ly the nuclear industry in order to improve the industrial processes, some case study examples are presented, Emulsion from Uranium solvent Extraction plant and Itataia Uranium Developments. In Caitité industrial plant the water recirculation has caused continuous changes in the composition of pregnant liquor mainly in the sulfate and chloride concentrations. After some water recirculation cycles, a decrease in the uranium extraction efficiency was noted which was followed by the formation of stable emulsion at the uranium extraction stage. Itataia Uranium Developments were performed in a pilot plant for Itataia ore. This ore has the uranium mineral associated to the phosphate. The process consists of four main steps： 1） phosphate concentration, 2） chemical digestion of the concentrate to produce phosphoric acid with dissolved uranium, 3） uranium recovery, and 4） phosphoric acid purification by solvent extraction.

Temperature is a key factor that shapes the distribution of *** knowledge about how species respond to temperature is relevant to devise strategies for addressing the impacts of climate *** insects are particularly vulnerable to climate change,yet there is still much to learn about their ecology and *** the Yungas ecoregion of Northwestern Argentina,cold-and warm-adapted species of the orders Ephemeroptera,plecoptera,and Trichoptera(EpT)are segregated by *** modeled the ecological niche of south American EpT species in this region using available data and projected their potential distribution in geographic *** were grouped based on their ecogeographic similarity,and we analyzed their replacement pattern along elevation gradients,focusing on the ecotone where opposing thermal preferences *** this interface,we identified critical points where the combined incidence of cold and warm assemblages maximizes,indicating a significant transition *** found that the Montane Cloud Forest holds the interface,with a particularly greater suitability at its lower *** main axis of the interface runs in a N-s direction and falls between 14°C-16°C mean annual *** probability of a particular location within a basin being classified as.p.rt of the interface increases as Kira’s warmth index approaches a score around *** the interface is critical for defining the thermal limits of species distribution and designing biomonitoring *** in the location of thermal constants related to mountainous ecotones may cause vertical displacement of aquatic insects and vegetation *** have recognized significant temperature thresholds that serve as indicators of suitability for the *** global warming is anticipated to shift these indicators,we suggest using them to monitor the imprints of climate change on mountain ecosystems.

This.p.per proposes a design of control and estimation strategy for induction motor based on the variable structure *** describes a coupling of sliding mode direct torque control(DTC)with sliding mode flux and speed *** algorithm uses direct torque control basics and the sliding mode approach.A robust electromagnetic torque and flux controllers are designed to overcome the conventional sVM-DTC draw・backs and to ensure fast response and full reference tracking with desired dynamic behavior and low ripple *** sliding mode controller is used to generate reference voltages in stationary frame and give them to the controlled motor after modulation by a space vector modulation(sVM)*** second aim of this.p.per is to design a sliding mode speed/flux observer which can improve the control performances by using a sensorless algorithm to get an accurate estimation,and consequently,increase the reliability of the system and decrease the cost of using *** effectiveness of the whole composed control algorithm is investigated in different robustness tests with simulation using Matlab/simulink and verified by real time experimental implementation based on ds.p.ce 1104 board.

Biologically Inspired Node Generation Algorithm for path planning of Hyper-redundant Manipulators Using probabilistic Roadmap

This article describes a biologically inspired node generator for the path planning of serially connected hyper-redundant manipulators using probabilistic roadmap planners. The generator searches the configuration space surrounding existing nodes in the roadmap and uses a combination of random and deterministic search methods that emulate the behaviour of octopus limbs. The strategy consists of randomly mutating the states of the links near the end-effector, and mutating the states of the links near the base of the robot toward the states of the goal configuration. When combined with the small tree probabilistic roadmap planner, the method was successfully used to solve the narrow passage motion planning problem of a 17 degree-of-freedom manipulator.

Objective:To investigate the antinociceptive effect of tingenone on inflammatory pain,as well as and the involvement of the cannabinoid receptors type 2(CB2)and spinal microglia in this ***:Male swiss mice were subjected to inflammatory pain induced by intraplantar injection of *** nociceptive threshold was measured by von Frey filaments *** was administered orally 60 min before carrageenan *** evaluate the involvement of CB2 receptor,endocannabinoids,and microglia,AM630(a CB2 receptor antagonist),MAFp(an inhibitor of an enzyme that hydrolyses endocannabinoids),and minocycline(a microglial inhibitor)were given intrathecally 20 min before tingenone *** addition,an immunofluorescence assay was used to evaluate CB2 receptor and CD11 B(a microglial marker)expression in the spinal cord dorsal ***:Tingenone significantly reduced carrageenan-induced hyperalgesia,which was reversed by pretreatment with *** and minocycline potentiated and prolonged the tingenoneinduced ***11 B expression was increased in the spinal cord dorsal horn of mice with inflammatory pain pretreated with tingenone,which was reduced by AM630,MAFp,and ***:CB2 receptors and endocannabinoids.p.rticipate in the tingenone-induced antinociception which may involve the inhibition of microglia at spinal level.
