Background: Fetal Alcohol spectrum Disorders (FAsDs) are a global public health concern with lifelong consequences for affected individuals. Recent prevalence studies suggest FAsD prevalence rates range from 1-5% among school age children. Most people with FAsD are not correctly diagnosed and inadequate screening to identify patients with increased risk may contribute to under-diagnosis. This study developed a 10-item screening tool for FAsD and examined its feasibility. Methods: The sample consisted of 355 children who had been evaluated at an FAsD clinic. Data from the 33-item Alcohol Related Neurodevelopmental Disorder Behavioral Checklist was used to develop a brief FAsD screen by comparing the changes in Cronbach’s alpha for different combinations of items. The validity of the brief scale was then further examined using receiving operating characteristic analyses. Results: The 10-item screen demonstrated acceptable sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy to identify children at high risk for FAsD. The percentage correctly classified was 91.3 and the area under the receiving operating characteristic curve was 0.971. Conclusions: This feasibility study demonstrated that a screen for FAsD consisting of 10 items with yes or no responses can be completed in 3 - 4 minutes. The tool is brief, with a low administration burden and has acceptable epidemiologic performance characteristics including accuracy. Future research should examine the performance of this tool when used in larger, community-based populations where screening for FAsD would be appropriate.

In this paper,we present a time-domain dynamic state estimation for unbalanced three-phase power *** dynamic nature of the estimator stems from an explicit consideration of the electromagnetic dynamics of the network,i.e.,the dynamics of the electrical *** enables our approach to release the assumption of the network being in quasi-steady ***,based on the line dynamics,we derive a graphbased dynamic system *** handle the large number of interacting variables,we propose a port-Hamiltonian modeling *** on the port-Hamiltonian model,we then follow an observer-based approach to develop a dynamic *** estimator uses synchronized sampled value measurements to calculate asymptotic convergent estimates for the unknown bus voltages and *** design and implementation of the estimator are illustrated through the IEEE 33-bus *** simulations verify the estimator to produce asymptotic exact estimates,which are able to detect harmonic distortion and sub-second transients as arising from converterbased resources.

The gibberellins(GAs)are phytohormones that play fundamental roles in almost every aspect of plant growth and *** GA biosynthetic and signaling pathways are well understood,the mechanisms that control GA homeostasis remain largely unclear in ***,we demonstrate that the homeobox transcription factor(TF)HB40 of the HD-Zip family regulates GA content at two additive con-trol levels in Arabidopsis *** show that HB40 expression is induced by GA and in turn reduces the levels of endogenous bioactive GAs by simultaneously reducing GA biosynthesis and increasing GA ***,HB40 overexpression leads to typical GA-deficiency traits,such as small rosettes,reduced plant height,delayed flowering,and male *** contrast,a loss-of-function hb40 mutation enhances GA-controlled ***-wide RNA sequencing combined with molecular-genetic ana-lyses revealed that HB40 directly activates the transcription of JUNGBRUNNEN1(JJUB1),a key TF that re-presses growth by suppressing GA biosynthesis and ***40 also activates genes encoding GA 2-oxidases(GA2oxs),which are major GA-catabolic *** effect of HB40 on plant growth is ultimately mediated through the induction of nuclear growth-repressing DELLA ***,our results reveal the important role of the HB40-JUB1 regulatory network in controlling GA homeostasis during plant growth.

Magnesium as biodegradable biomaterial could serve as bone augmentation material in implant *** knowledge about the predictability of the biodegradation process is essential as this process needs to go hand in hand with the formation of new bone to gradually replace the augmentation ***,this work aimed to assess if the electrochemistry(EC)measurements of the corrosion process correlate with the surface features at various time points during the surface degradation,in order to describe the degradation process of Mg and Mg alloys more reliably,under the assumption that differences in EC behavior can be detected and related to specific patterns on the *** this test setup,a special optical chamber was used for electrochemical measurements on Mg and Mg-alloys(Mg2Ag,Mg4Ag,and Mg6Ag).specimens were investigated using different circulating cell culture solutions as electrolytes,these were minimum essential medium(MEM),Hank’s Balanced salt solution(HBss),and MEM+(MEM with added sodium hydrogen carbonate)at 37℃.Open circuit potential measurements(OCP)over 30 min followed by cyclic polarization were *** electrochemistry data,including OCP,exchange current density and corrosion potential,were compared with visible changes at the surface during these treatments over *** results show that the addition of silver(Ag)leads to a“standardization”of the degradation regardless of the selected test *** is currently difficult to correlate the visible microscopic changes with the data taken from the ***,further investigations are necessary.

As the entire world is under the grip of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),and as many are eagerly trying to explain the origins of the virus and cause of the pandemic,it is imperative to place more attention on related potential biosafety *** and biotechnology have changed dramatically during the last ten years or *** reliance on digitization,automation,and their cyber-overlaps have created new vulnerabilities for unintended consequences and potentials for intended exploitation that are mostly *** study summarizes and elaborates on these new cyberbiosecurity challenges,(1)in terms of comprehending the evolving threat landscape and determining new risk potentials,(2)in developing adequate safeguarding measures,their validation and implementation,and(3)specific critical risks and consequences,many of them unique to the *** other's expertise and my previous work,this article reviews and critically interprets our current bio-economy *** goal is not to attribute causative aspects of past biosafety or biosecurity events,but to highlight the fact that the bioeconomy harbors unique features that have to be more critically assessed for their potential to unintentionally cause harm to human health or environment,or to be re-tasked with an intention to cause *** is concluded with recommendations that will need to be considered to help ensure converging and emerging biorisk challenges,in order to minimize vulnerabilities to the life-science enterprise,public health,and national security.
