Brain aging is typically associated with a significant decline in cognitive *** risk factors(VRF)and subsequent atherosclerosis(As)play a major role in this *** resilience reflects the brain’s ability to withstand external perturbations,but the relationship of brain resilience with cognition during the aging process remains ***,we investigated how brain topological resilience(BTR)is associated with cognitive performance in the face of aging and vascular risk *** used data from two cross-ethnicity community cohorts,PolyvasculaR Evaluation for Cognitive Impairment and Vascular Events(PRECIsE,n=2220)and sydney memory and Ageing study(mAs,n=246).We conducted an attack simulation on brain structural networks based on k-shell decomposition and node degree *** was defined based on changes in the size of the largest subgroup of the network during the simulation ***,we explored the negative correlations of BTR with age,VRF,and As,and its positive correlation with cognitive ***,using structural equation modeling(sEm),we constructed path models to analyze the directional dependencies among these variables,demonstrating that aging,As,and VRF affect cognition by disrupting *** results also indicated the specificity of this metric,independent of brain ***,these findings underscore the supportive role of BTR on cognition during aging and highlight its potential application as an imaging marker for objective assessment of brain cognitive performance.

Extraskeletal myxoid chondrosarcoma metastatic to the pancreas: A case report

Extraskeletal myxoid chondrosarcoma (EmC) is a lowgrade sarcoma characterized by developing metastases and local recurrence in high rate. It is mainly deep seated in the proximal extremities. The most common metastatic sites are the lungs, soft tissues, lymph nodes, bones and the brain. To our knowledge, no case of clearly defined EmC has been reported to date developing a metastasis in the pancreas. We describe a case of a man suffering from EmC who developed a single pancreatic metastasis 20 years after the initial diagnosis. A 49-year-old man was submitted to surgical excision of an EmC, in left thigh, 20 years ago. Fourteen years after the initial diagnosis a local recurrence in left thigh occurred. multiple lesions of metastatic origin, in both lungs, were excised via thoracotomies until the time being. In 2003, as a part of a periodically performed imaging control, an abdominal CT scan was performed revealing a solid lesion in the pancreas. Distal pancreatectomy was performed. The histopathology of the excised specimen proved to be the one of metastatic lesion of EmC. The above-mentioned case of EmC is, as far as we know, the first one described developing a certain pancreatic metastasis.

Phonon Dispersion in Ca70mg30 metallic Glass

The phonon dispersion curves （PDC） of Ca70mg30 metallic glass has been studied at room temperature in terms of phonon eigen frequencies of longitudinal and transverse modes employing three different approaches proposed by Hubbard and Beeby （J. Phys. C： solid state Phys. 13 （1969） 556）, Takeno and Goda （Prog. Theor. Phys. 45 （1971） 331; 47 （1972） 790） and Bhatia and singh （Phys. Rev. B 31 （1985） 4751）. The well recognized model potential of Gajjar et al. is employed successfully to explain electron-ion interaction in the metallic glass. The effective pair potential is used to generate the pair correlation function g（r）. The local field correction function （Int. J. mod. Phys. B 17 （2003） 6001） is used for the first time to introduce the exchange and correlation effects on the aforesaid properties. The present findings of PDCs are found to be in agreement with the available theoretical as well as experimental data. The thermodynamic and elastic properties, i.e. longitudinal and transverse sound velocities, isothermal bulk modulus, modulus of rigidity, Poisson＇s ratio, Young＇s modulus and Debye temperature, are also investigated successfully.

Photometric Investigation of Contact Binary DY Cet Based on TEss Data

We present a photometric analysis of the Transiting Exoplanet survey satellite(TEss)light curve of contact binary system DY Cet and the behavior of its orbital period *** light curve and published radial velocity data analysis was performed using the Wilson-Devinney *** a result of simultaneous analysis of the light curve with radial velocity data,the masses and radii of the system’s components were determined as m_(1)=1.55±0.02 m_(⊙),m_(2)=0.55±0.01 m_(⊙) and R_(1)=1.51±0.02 R_(⊙),R_(2)=0.95±0.02 R_(⊙),*** degree of contact(f)and mass ratio(q)of the system were determined as 23%and 0.355±0.012,*** period analysis of DY Cet was conducted for the first time in this *** was observed that the orbital period has a sinusoidal change with decreasing *** explain the orbital period change,mass transfer between components is proposed with the assumption of conservative mass,and the transfer rate was calculated to be dm/dt=1.1×10^(-7) m_(⊙)yr^(-1).A possible third component is suggested for explaining the sinusoidal change,and the mass of the unseen component was determined as 0.13 m_(⊙).The age of the DY Cet system was estimated as 3.77 Gyr.

micropropagation of Three Bamboo species from Nodal Explants of mature Culms

A micropropagation technique is developed for the multiplication of Dendrocalamus strictus （D. strictus）, Dendrocalamus asper （19. asper） and Bambusa bambos （B. bambos） through shoot proliferation. Nodal explants obtained from field gown clumps were used to initiate cultures. shoots were induced on murashige and skoog＇s （ms） medium supplemented with 5 mg L^-1 6-benzylamino purine （BAP）. Rapid shoot multiplication was obtained on ms medium containing 3 mg Lt BAP in D. asper, B. bambos and 2 mg L^-1 BAP in D. strictus. In vitro multiplied shoots showed best root induction on half strength ms supplemented with 1 mg L^-1 indole-3 butyric acid （IBA） and 0.5 mg L^-1 1-naphthalene acetic acid （NAA） in D. asper. Pre-rooting conditioning followed by culturing on half strength ms supplemented with 1 mg L^-1 IBA and 2 mg L^-1 IBA showed maximum root induction in D. strictus and B. bambos, respectively. Further root proliferation was obtained on hormone free medium. The micropropagated plantlets were acclimatized and successfully transferred on soil in green house.

maternal-fetal cell exchange during pregnancy results in acquisition of microchimerism, which can durably persist in both recipients. Naturally acquired microchimerism may impact maternal-fetal interaction in pregnancy. We conducted studies to ask whether microchimerism that a woman acquired from her own mother is detectable before or during pregnancy in women with recurrent miscarriage. Fetal microchimerism was also assayed. Women with primary idiopathic recurrent miscarriage （n=23） and controls （n=31） were studied. Genotyping was conducted for probands, their mothers and the fetus, a non-shared polymorphism identified and quantitative polymerase chain reaction performed to measure microchimerismin peripheral blood mononuclear cells. Preconception comparisons were made between recurrent miscarriage subjects and controls, using logistic regression and Wilcoxon rank sum. Longitudinal microchimerism in subsequent pregnancies of recurrent miscarriage subjects was described. There was a trend toward lower preconception detection of microchimerism in recurrent miscarriage versus controls, 6% vs. 19% （1/16 vs. 6/31, P=0.2）. During pregnancy, 3111 （27%） of recurrent miscarriage subjects who went on to have a birth had detection of microchimerism from their own mother, whereas neither of two subjects who went on to miscarry had detection （0/2）. This initial data suggest that microchimerism from a woman＇s own mother, while detectable in women with recurrent miscarriage, may differ from controls and according to subsequent pregnancy outcome. Further studies are needed to determine the cell types,quantities and any potential functional role of microchimerism in recurrent miscarriage.

Evolution of the 251 cm-1 temperature in infrared phonon mode with Ba0.6K0.4Fe2As2

The far-infrared optical reflectivity of an optimaUy doped Ba1-xKxFe2As2 （x = 0.4） single crystal is measured from room temperature down to 4 K. We study the temperature dependence of the in-plane infrared-active phonon at 251 em-1. This phonon exhibits a symmetric line shape in the optical conductivity, suggesting that the coupling between the phonon and the electronic background is weak. Upon cooling down, the frequency of this phonon continu- ously increases, following the conventional temperature dependence expected in the absence of a structural or magnetic transition. The intensity of this phonon is temperature independent within the measurement accuracy. These observa- tions indicate that the structural and magnetic phase transition might be completely suppressed by chemical doping in the optimally doped Bao.6Ko.4Fe2As2 compound.

We present screening dependence theoretical investigations of the superconducting state parameters, i.e. electron-phonon coupling strength λ, Coulomb pseudopotential μ＊, transition temperature TC, isotope effect exponent α, and effective interaction strength N0V, of some BmG superconductors, namely Nb0.45Ta0.45mo0.10, Nb0.30Ta0.40mo0.30, Nb0.40Ta0.30mo0.30, Nb0.30Ta0.30mo0.40 and Nb0.15Ta0.15mo0.70 by employing the well-known empty core model potential of Ashcroft for the first time. Five local field correction functions proposed by Hartree, Taylor, Ichimaru-Utsumi, Farid et al. and sarkar et al. are used in the present investigation to study the screening influence on the aforesaid superconducting properties. The transition temperature TC obtained from the H-local field correction function is found to be in an excellent agreement with the available theoretical data. Also, the present results are found to be in qualitative agreement with other such earlier reported data, which confirms the superconducting phase in the superconductors.
