Colon cancer has the fifth highest incidence worldwide and has the sixth highest *** with rectal cancer,colon cancer currently has the worst 5-year overall survival for patients with stage II and III *** mesocolic excision has been developed as a standardized and optimized surgical technique for the excision of colon *** technique has traditionally been performed through an open approach since laparoscopy is generally considered technically *** robotic approach has been slowly implemented for colon cancer,but the newest robotic platforms allow for a safer and optimized approach for right colon *** robotic approaches have been developed and *** expansion of the current robotic platform ecosystem is gradually providing new outputs in the application of the robotic approach to complete mesocolic *** review gains an oversight of existing literature on robotic complete mesocolic excision for right colon cancer(learning curve,training,techniques,approach,platforms,and future perspectives).

A framework is proposed to understand coupled consolidation-desiccation in clay slurries using effective stress and soil suction as state variables. Constitutive surfaces were derived from best-fit equations for reference curves where one state variable was kept at 1 kPa and the other was varied up to 10~6 *** indicated that volume compressibility comprises of apparent pre-consolidation up to 100 kPa beyond which a single best-fit curve is valid. similarly, the theoretical virgin compression line(specific gravity dependant), indicated that both state variables have the same effect up to the air entry value(1000 kPa at a void ratio of 1.8) beyond which void ratio reduces more readily under effective stress than under soil suction. Likewise, hydraulic conductivity remained saturated up to the air entry value and varied from 10^(-9)m/s to 10^(-12)m/s. Finally, the unsaturated hydraulic conductivity correlated well with empirical relationship up to 10^(-14) m/s bevond which vapor flow became dominant.

This work examines the entropy generation with heat and mass transfer in magnetohydrodynamic(MHD)stagnation point flow across a stretchable *** heat transport process is investigated with respect to the viscous dissipation and thermal radiation,whereas the mass transport is observed under the influence of a chemical *** irreversibe factor is measured through the application of the second law of *** established non-linear partial differential equations(PDEs)have been replaced by acceptable ordinary differential equations(ODEs),which are solved numerically via the bvp4 c method(built-in package in MATLAB).The numerical analysis of the resulting ODEs is carried out on the different flow parameters,and their effects on the rate of heat transport,friction drag,concentration,and the entropy generation are *** is determined that the concentration estimation and the sherwood number reduce and enhance for higher values of the chemical reaction parameter and the schmidt number,although the rate of heat transport is increased for the Eckert number and heat generation/absorption parameter,*** entropy generation augments with boosting values of the Brinkman number,and decays with escalating values of both the radiation parameter and the Weissenberg number.

Lead and Cadmium Contamination of Different Roadside soils and Plants in Peshawar City, Pakistan

soil and plant samples were collected from roadside sites (along with primary, secondary and tertiary roads) and reference site to investigate the contamination of soils and old common plant species with lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) in Peshawar City, Pakistan. All the data were analyzed using ANOVA analysis that showed a significant (P ≤ 0.01) variation in Pb and Cd concentrations in the roadside soils and plants as compared to the reference site. The mean concentrations of Pb and Cd were 53.9 and 6.0 mg kg-1 in soils and 49.1 and 10.9 mg kg-1 in plants, respectively. significant variation (P ≤ 0.01) in concentrations of Pb and Cd in soil and plant samples along with primary, secondary and tertiary roads might be due to different traffic densities. The highest value (9.4) of metal accumulation index (MAI) was observed for Eucalyptus camaldulensis. In selected plant species, the Pb and Cd accumulation was found in the order of E. camaldulensis > Ficus elastica > Dalbergia sissoo > Alstonia scholaris. The roadside soils and plants were highly contaminated with Pb and Cd as compared to the reference site.

COsMO-Rs: An ionic liquid prescreening tool for gas hydrate mitigation

Recently ionic liquids(ILs) are introduced as novel dual function gas hydrate inhibitors. However, no desired gas hydrate inhibition has been reported due to poor IL selection and/or tuning method. Trial & error as well as selection based on existing literature are the methods currently employed for selecting and/or tuning ILs. These methods are probabilistic, time consuming, expensive and may not result in selecting high performance ILs for gas hydrate mitigation. In this work, COsMO-Rs is considered as a prescreening tool of ILs for gas hydrate mitigation by predicting the hydrogen bonding energies(E_(HB)) of studied IL inhibitors and comparing the predicted E_(HB) to the depression temperature(?) and induction time. Results show that, predicted EHBand chain length of ILs strongly relate and significantly affect the gas hydrate inhibition depression temperature but correlate moderately(R = 0.70) with average induction time in literature. It is deduced from the results that, ? increases with increasing IL EHBand/or decreases with increasing chain length. However, the cation–anion pairing of ILs also affects IL gas hydrate inhibition performance. Furthermore, a visual and better understanding of IL/water behavior for gas hydrate inhibition in terms of hydrogen bond donor and acceptor interaction analysis is also presented by determining the sigma profile and sigma potential of studied IL cations and anions used for gas hydrate mitigation for easy IL selection.

Objective: While interest in elective robotic surgery is growing, use in emergency setting remainslimited due to challenges posed by sicker patients, advanced pathology and logistical issues. During theCOVID-19 pandemic, robotic surgery could provide the benefit of having the surgeon away from thebedside and reducing the number of directly exposed medical staff. The objective of this study was toreport patient outcomes and initial learning experience of emergency robotic colorectal surgery duringthe COVID-19 ***: A case series study was conducted, including patients undergoing emergency robotic colorectalsurgery between February 2020 and February 2021 at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth, *** data were collected from an ethics approved prospective database. Patient demographics,operative time, conversions and postoperative complications were recorded. In addition, readmissions,length of stay and short-term oncological outcomes were ***: Ten patients with median age 64 y (range, 36-83 y) were included. Four patients had roboticcomplete mesocolic resection for obstructing cancers. six had colorectal resections for benign disease inemergency setting. All were R0 with a mean lymph node harvest of 54 ± 13. Mean operative time was249 ± 117 min, the median length of stay was 9.4 d (range, 5-22 d). Only one patient was given atemporary diverting ileostomy. There were no grade III/V complications and no 30-day ***: Provided an experienced team and peri-operative planning, emergency robotic colorectalsurgery can achieve favorable outcomes with benefits of radical lymph node dissection in oncologicalcases and avoidance of diverting stoma.

Mode-locked 2 μm fiber laser with a multi-walled carbon nanotube as a saturable absorber

We propose and demonstrate a passively mode-locked fiber laser operating at 1951.8 nm using a commercial thulium-doped fiber （TDF） laser, a homemade double-clad thulium-ytterbium co-doped fiber （TYDF） as the gain media, and a multi-walled carbon nanotube （MWCNT） based saturable absorber （sA）. We prepare the MWCNT composite by mixing a homogeneous solution of MWCNTs with a diluted polyvinyl alcohol （PVA） polymer solution and then drying it at room temperature to form a film. The film is placed between two fiber connectors as a sA before it is integrated into a laser ring cavity. The cavity consists of a 2 m long TDF pumped by a 800 nm laser diode and a 15 m long homemade TYDF pumped by a 905 nm multimode laser diode. A stable mode-locking pulse with a repetition rate of 34.6 MHz and a pulse width of 10.79 ps is obtained when the 905 nm multimode pump power reaches 1.8-2.2 W, while the single-mode 800 nm pump power is fixed at 141.5 mW at all times. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported mode-locked fiber laser using a MWCNT-based sA.
