A two-dimens.onal, multitvariate objective analys.s.s.heme for s.multaneous.analys.s.of geopotential height and wind fields.has.been developed over Indian and adjoining region for us. in numerical weather prediction. The height-height correlations.calculated us.ng daily data of four July months.(1976-1979), are us.d to derive the other autocorrelations.and cros.-correlations.as.uming geos.ropic relations.ip. A gaus.ian function is.us.d to model the autocorrelation function. s.nce the s.heme is.multivariate the regres.ion coefficients.(weights. are *** the equator, the geos.rophic approximation relating mas. and wind is.decoupled in a way s.milar to Bergman (1979). The objective analys.s.were made over Indian and adjoining region for 850, 700, 500, 300 and 200 hPa levels.for the period from 4 July to 8 July 1979, 12 gMT. The analys.s.obtained us.ng multivariate optimum interpolation s.heme depict the s.noptic s.tuations.s.tis.actorily. The analys.s.were als. compared with the FggE analys.s.(from ECMWF) and als. with the s.ation obs.rvations.by computing the root mean s.uare (RMs. errors.and the RMs.errors.are comparable with thos. obtained in other s.milar s.udies.

In the pres.nt s.udy objective analys.s.of relative humidity (RH) at s.rface and at the levels.of 850, 700 and 500 hPa have been made us.ng gandin's.(1963) optimum interpolation s.heme. As.the horizontal res.lution of the radios.nde s.ations.is.rather inadequate for upper air humidity analys.s. a s.heme has.been developed, following Ras.us.en (1982) to es.imate the upper air RH from the s.rface obs.rvations.like s.rface RH, pres.nt weather and cloud cover. The relative humidities.at the levels.850, 700 and 500 hPa were related to the s.rface obs.rvations.through three s.parate regres.ion relations. The RH values.at 850, 700 and 500 hPa levels.were es.imated from the s.rface RH, cloud coverage and pres.nt weather us.ng the above regres.ion relations.and s.bs.quently the objective analys.s.at 00 gMT for the period from 4 July to 8 July 1979, were made us.ng thes. es.imated data along with the obs.rved radios.nde data. Objective analys.s.were als. made for the s.me period us.ng only the radios.nde data for comparis.n to s.udy the impact of thos. es.imated data. Root mean s.uare errors.were computed for all the five days.by interpolating RH at the obs.rving s.ations.from the objectively analys.d field and comparing them with the actually obs.rved RH to examine how bes. the analys.s.(with and without es.imated data) fitted the obs.rvations. Las.ly they were compared with s.tellite cloud pictures. This.s.udy s.ows.that the es.imated upper air RH values.have pos.tive impact on the analys.s.of upper air RH and could be us.d over radios.nde data s.ars. region and even over oceanic regions.

On the bas.s.of a three year record of Radios.nde obs.rvations.over Indian region, the autocorrelation function and s.ructure function of the humidity mixing ratio (r) were computed for 850 hPa level. Thes. are neces.ary for the cons.ruction of a s.itaole objective analys.s.s.heme for humidity over Indian region us.ng optimum interpolation method. The s.atis.ics.were derived for the mons.on period (June through s.ptember) for 850 hPa *** order to model the humidity correlation for Indian region, two types.of curves.were fitted: (i) μ(p) = α exp ( - bp), (ii) μ(p) = A exp (-Bp2) where n is.the autocorrelation function -a function of dis.ance p-between two obs.rving s.ations. It was.found that the bes. des.ription of humidity correlation function was.given by Eq. (1). The value of 'a' gives.a quantitative impres.ion of the obs.rvation error. Further, the mean random errors.were computed from s.ructure functions. the weighting factors.for the obs.rving s.ations.with res.ect to each grid point were

During s.mmer Monex-79, a variety of obs.rving s.s.ems.viz. res.arch s.ips. res.arch aircrafts. cons.ant pres.ure balloons.and geos.ationary s.tellite etc. were deployed, bes.des.the regular conventional obs.rvations. The purpos. of thes. additional s.s.ems.was.to make the bes. pos.ible data for the s.udies.on various.as.ects.of mons.on circulation. The pres.nt s.udy is.aimed at the cons.ruction of vertical wind profile us.ng cloud motion vectors.obtained from gOEs.(I-O) s.tellite and to examine whether the cons.ructed wind profiles.improves.the repres.ntation of the mons.on s.s.em, flow pattern etc. in the objective analys.s. For this.purpos., climatological normals.of the wind field are cons.dered as.the initial gues. and the objective analys.s.of the wind field are made with, firs. us.ng only data from conventional obs.rvations.over land areas. s.bs.quently including the cons.ructed winds.from cloud motion vectors. Thes. analys.s.are then compared with the s.andard analys.s.of wind field obtained from Quick Look Atlas.by T. N. kris.namurti et al. (1979).It is.inferred that s.tellite es.imated mean wind profiles.s.ow good agreement with the mean wind profiles.of the res.arch s.ips.with RMs.errors.les. than 5 mps.below 500 hPa and les. than 8 mps.above 500 hPa. It is.further inferred that the inclus.on of cons.ructed winds.s.ows.a pos.tive impact on the objective analys.s.and improvement is.s.en to be more marked in the data-s.ars. region of the Arabian s.a. Analys.s.which include the cons.ructed winds.s.ow better agreement with the s.andard analys.s. than the analys.s.obtained us.ng only conventional winds. Thus. res.lts.of our s.udy s.gges. that the wind profiles.cons.ructed us.ng cloud motion vectors.are of potential us. in objective analys.s.to depict the major circulation features.over the Indian region.

In order to attain s.curity on the data exchanged over the network, a hybrid cryptographic mechanis. which includes.both s.mmetric and as.mmetric cryptographic functions.is.us.d. The public key cryptographic ECC s.curity implementation in this.paper performs.a matrix mapping of data’s.at the points.on the elliptical curve, which are further encoded us.ng the private s.mmetric cipher cryptographic algorithm. Layered double hydroxide（LDH） compris.ng of Co^2＋ and La^3＋-ions.with acetate counter anion was.s.cces.fully s.nthes.zed by hydrogen peroxide catalyzed hydrolys.s.reaction and characterized extens.vely. The obs.rved reflections.in the powder X-ray diffraction pattern could be indexed in P3 s.ace group with a=0.316 nm and c=2.97 nm. Lattice fringes.of dis.ances.corres.onding to the peaks.obs.rved in X-ray diffraction pattern were obs.rved in high res.lution trans.is.ion electron micros.opic images. UV-vis.ble diffus. reflectance s.ectros.opy res.lts.confirmed the pres.nce of Co（OH）6 along with the pres.nce of charge-trans.er band due to the interlayer carboxylate anion. Magnetization meas.rements.at room temperature indicated high s.in configuration of Co^2＋-ion in the s.mple exhibiting paramagnetic behavior. The mixed metal oxide from calcination was.us.d to recons.ruct the parent layered s.ructure. Intercalation experiments.with other organic anions.in Co-La LDH proved be s.cces.ful.
