Disaster Impacts surveillance from social Media with Topic Modeling and Feature Extraction: Case of Hurricane Harvey

Twitter can supply useful information on infrastructure impacts to the emergency managers during major disasters,but it is time consuming to filter through many irrelevant *** studies have identified the types of messages that can be found on social media during disasters,but few solutions have been proposed to efficiently extract useful *** present a framework that can be applied in a timely manner to provide disaster impact information sourced from social *** framework is tested on a well-studied and data-rich case of Hurricane *** procedures consist of filtering the raw Twitter data based on keywords,location,and tweet attributes,and then applying the latent Dirichlet allocation(LDA) to separate the tweets from the disaster affected area into categories(topics) useful to emergency *** LDA revealed that out of 24 topics found in the data,nine were directly related to disaster impacts-for example,outages,closures,flooded roads,and damaged *** such as frequent hashtags,mentions,URLs,and useful images were then extracted and *** relevant tweets,along with useful images,were correlated at the county level with flood depth,distributed disaster aid(damage),and population *** correlations were found between the nine relevant topics and population density but not flood depth and damage,suggesting that more research into the suitability of social media data for disaster impacts modeling is *** results from this study provide baseline information for such efforts in the future.

A subset s of vertices of a graph G with no isolated vertex is a total restrained dominating set if every vertex is adjacent to a vertex in s and every vertex in V （G） s is also adjacent to a vertex in V （G） s. The total restrained domination number of G is the minimum cardinality of a total restrained dominating set of G. In this paper we initiate the study of total restrained bondage in graphs. The total restrained bondage number in a graph G with no isolated vertex, is the minimum cardinality of a subset of edges E such that G E has no isolated vertex and the total restrained domination number of G E is greater than the total restrained domination number of G. We obtain several properties, exact values and bounds for the total restrained bondage number of a graph.

Water Net: An adaptive matching pipeline for segmenting water with volatile appearance

We develop a novel network to segment water with significant appearance variation in *** existing state-of-the-art video segmentation approaches that use a pre-trained feature recognition network and several previous frames to guide segmentation,we accommodate the object’s appearance variation by considering features observed from the current *** dealing with segmentation of objects such as water,whose appearance is non-uniform and changing dynamically,our pipeline can produce more reliable and accurate segmentation results than existing algorithms.

Excellent electrocatalytic activity of benzil for direct reduction of CO2 as well as indirect reduction of pyridine:A kinetic view of the electrocarboxylation process

Benzil,1,2-diphenylethane-1,2-dione, was used as an excellent electrocatalyst for reduction of carbon dioxide, CO. The reduction overpotential of COwas reduced about 900 m V in the presence of a benzil mediator. The chemical reaction of the product of the electrocatalytic reduction of CO,(activated CO,CO) with pyridine at a glassy carbon electrode, GCE, surface and in an acetonitrile-ButNClOsolution was investigated by cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry and controlled potential *** chronoamperometry, the catalytic rate constant, k, for the electron transfer between benzil and COwas obtained as 8.1 ± 0.4 Ms. The results indicate that pyridine has a strong interaction with the activated CO. The coulometry method was used to obtain the product of the pyridine chemical reaction with CO. The spectral characterizations of FTIR,H andC NMR of the coulometry experiment product proved that the pyridine anion radical, Py, was carboxylated by CO, and isonicotinic acid is the final major product.

Pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders associated with or without streptococcal and other bacterial infections (PANDAs/CANs) are emerging as a featured pediatric disorder. Although there is some controversy regarding treatment approaches, especially related to the behavioral sequelae, we have hypothesized in other published work that it is characterized by the rapid onset of Reward Deficiency syndrome (RDs) in children. We propose utilizing a multi-systems biological approach involving the coupling of genetic addiction risk testing and pro-dopamine regulation (KB220/POLYGEN®) to help induce “dopamine homeostasis” in patients with PANDAs, especially those with known DNA-induced hypodopaminergia. This case study examines a 12-year-old Caucasian male with no prior psychiatric issues who presented with a sudden onset of severe anxiety, depression, emotional liability, and suicidal ideation. The patient underwent genotyping and the genetic addiction risk score (GARs) testing, which revealed risk polymorphisms in the dopamine D2 (-DRD2/ANKK (Taq1A), OPRM1 (A/G), DRD3 (C/T), and MAOA (4R) genes. These polymorphisms have been linked to hypodopaminergia. The patient was subsequently placed on research ID-KB220ZPBMPOLY (POLYGEN®), and albeit the possibility of bias, based upon self and parental assessment, a marked rapid improvement in psychiatric symptoms was observed. In the second phase of treatment (102 days utilizing KB220), the patient received standard antibody testing, which was positive for Lyme. Antibacterial therapy started immediately, and KB220z was discontinued to provide a wash-out period. A monotonic trend analysis was performed on each outcome measure, and a consistently decreasing trend was observed utilizing antibacterial therapy. Our recommendation, albeit only one case, is to utilize and further research a combined therapeutic approach, involving precision-guided DNA testing and pro-dopamine regulation along with antibacterial therapy, as well as

Combined effect of micro silica with clay, and gypsum as mulches on shear strength and wind erosion rate of sands

Mulching is known as one of the fastest strategies to control wind erosion and sand dunes *** hypothesized that mixed micro silica with clay,gypsum and clay-gypsum as mulches will increase shear strength,threshold friction velocity and decrease soil losses of drifting *** this purpose,mixture of micro silica rates (0,1,5,10,15 and 20%) with clay,gypsum,and clay-gypsum applied on sand *** 60 days of mulching,shear strength,the threshold friction velocity and soil losses at a wind speed of 15 m/s at the height of 20 cm for 20 *** results of this research revealed that the addition of 10% of micro silica in combination with clay and clay-gypsum increased the shear strength up to 10.6 and 37.5% and the threshold friction velocity up to 45.2 and 48.5%,respectively and decreased soil losses up to 100% in comparison with the samples without micro *** micro silica to gypsum had no considerable effect on shear strength,threshold friction velocity and soil *** was concluded that no pozzolanic reaction occurred between micro silica and gypsum and it was found that improvement in mechanical property and erodibility of clay-gypsum mulch was probably due to the pozzolanic reaction between micro silica and *** of 10% of micro silica in combination with clay or clay-gypsum is therefore recommended as suitable mulch.

Reliability and validity of Persian version of Medical Outcome study-HIV health survey in Iranian people living with HIV

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the psychometric properties of the Persian version of the medical outcome study human immunodeficiency virus(MOs-HIV)health survey among people living with HIV or acquired immune deficiency syndrome(HIV/AIDs) in Iran is our main goal in this ***: The MOs-HIV questionnaire was translated into Persian using backward translation and the Persian version was filled by 100 HIV infected patients. Reliability of the questionnaire was estimated using Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the total questionnaire and for each dimension. Convergent, discriminant and construct validity were performed. Comparisons were performed between the subscales of the questionnaire in Iran and some other countries with ***: The overall Cronbach's alpha in this study was 0.90 and the range of this coefficient was from 0.71 to 0.86 across the subscales with two exceptions, general health perception and role functioning, which were at 0.65 and 0.61. Convergent and discriminant validity were excellent in all domains. The two factor confirmatory factor analysis showed a good fit based on standardized estimates of factor loading, incremental and absolute fit ***: The Persian version of the MOs-HIV had good reliability and validity in measuring health related quality of life in people living with HIV in Iran. Furthermore, quality of life for HIV infected patients was very low in comparing with the people in some other countries.

Using automatic identification system(AIs)data,this article first has extended the definition of three widely used roadway congestion indices to maritime transportation systems(MTs),traffic speed index(TsI),traffic rate index(TRI),and dwell time index(DTI).Next,a methodology is developed to measure the indices based on AIs data,considering various factors,including path geometry,time of day,and the type and size of vessels,and finally the method has been applied to the AIs data of the Houston ship Channel(HsC)to evaluate the applicability in real *** results show that although average TsI and TRI cannot represent waterway congestion,the real-time values(rather than the average)at the micro level can help finding location,time,and severity of traffic ***,while TsI and TRI have shortcomings,both average and real-time dwell time index(DTI)can quantify traffic congestion and highlight severity in different waterway segments for different types of *** congestion happens at some narrow waterways,vessels need to wait at sea buoy or docks,thus dwell time index(DTI)can quantify traffic congestion better than in-transit indices such as travel speed,*** to HsC DTI,most tankers experience long waiting times at the sea buoy and Galveston Bay,while cargo vessels experience delays at Bayport and Barbour’s Cut *** paper helps the decision-makers quantify congestion in different sections of a waterway and provides measures to compare congestion for national competing projects at different waterways.

Could diffuse coevolution explain the generic eggshell color of the brown-headed cowbird?

The brown-headed cowbird(hereafter cowbird)is an avian brood parasite that produces an egg dissimilar to those produced by the majority of its diverse host *** cowbird’s generic egg may result from a Jack-of-all-trades strategy;however,the evolutionary mechanisms that select for their generic eggs are *** we propose that the cowbird’s eggshell phenotypes have evolved via diffuse coevolution,which results from community-level selective pressures,rather than via pairwise coevolution that occurs between a particular host species and its brood *** diffuse coevolution the cowbird’s host community,with varying eggshell phenotypes and recognition abilities,would select for a cowbird eggshell phenotype intermediate to those of its host *** selection is exerted by hosts that reject cowbird eggs,rather than those that accept them;therefore,we expect cowbird eggshell colors can be approximated by both the phenotypes and rejection abilities of their host *** we use eggshell reflectance data from 43 host species to demonstrate that the cowbird eggshell phenotypes are reasonably predicted(within 2 just noticeable differences)by the eggshell phenotypes and rejection rates of their *** findings suggest that cowbird eggshell phenotypes,and potentially those of other some generalist parasites,may evolve via diffuse ***,this research provides insight into the underlying evolutionary processes that explain observed phenotypic variation and provides a framework for studying selection on both specialist and generalist parasites’traits.
