Chalcogen-dependent catalytic properties of Rux2 (x = s/se/Te) nanoparticles decorated carbon nanofibers for hydrogen evolution in acidic and alkaline media

Transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs),with the general formula Mx_(2)(M=Mo/w/Fe/Co/Ni,etc.;x=s/se/Te),have attracted extensive research interests for hydrogen evolution reaction(heR).Compared with numerous studies on noble-metal-free TMDs,the chalcogen-dependent heR catalytic properties of noble-metal-based TMDs are lack of sufficient research ***,a facile electrospinning-assisted synthetic strategy is proposed to synthesize ruthenium dichalcogenides(Rux_(2),x=s/se/Te)nanoparticles decorated carbon nanofibers(CNFs).Benefiting from the identical nanofibrous morphology and exposed crystal planes of Rux_(2)(111),the catalytic activities of Rux_(2)@CNFs samples were investigated and compared in a fair and direct *** electrochemical measurements coupled with density functional theory calculations were carried out to probe their intrinsic heR catalytic activities,resulting in the catalytic activity order of Rus_(2)@CNFs>Ruse_(2)@CNFs>RuTe_(2)@CNFs in acidic media and that of Rus_(2)@CNFs>RuTe_(2)@CNFs>Ruse_(2)@CNFs in alkaline *** superior catalytic performance of Rus_(2)@CNFs mainly stems from the relative lower heR energy barriers and thereby the higher intrinsic catalytic activity of Rus_(2)(111),leading to ultralow overpotentials of 44 and 9 mV at 10 mA·cm^(-2) in acidic and alkaline media,***_(2)(111)is endowed with the more optimized Gibbs free energy of hydrogen adsorption(ΔGh*)than RuTe_(2)(111),but RuTe_(2)(111)shows enhanced catalytic property for h_(2)O dissociation and Oh-desorption than Ruse_(2)(111),therefore,resulting in the altered catalytic activity sequences for Ruse_(2) and RuTe_(2) in acidic and alkaline media.

Antimony-based materials with high capacities and moderate potentials are promising anodes for lithium-/-sodium-ion ***,their tremendous volume expansion and inferior conductivity lead to poor structural stability and sluggish reaction ***,a doubleconfined nanoheterostructure sb/sb_(2)s_(3)@Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)@C has been fabricated through a solvothermal method followed by low-temperature heat *** dual protection of“Mxene”and“carbon”can better accommodate the volume expansion of sb/sb_(2)s_(3).The strong covalent bond(Ti-s,Ti-O-sb,C-O-sb)can firmly integrate sb-based material with Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)and carbon,which significantly improves the structure *** addition,the carbon layer can restrain the oxidation of Mxenes,and the nano-sb/sb_(2)s_(3)can facilitate electron/ion transport and suppress the restacking of *** heterogeneous interface between sb and sb_(2)s_(3)can further promote interfacial charge *** Mxene-sb/sb_(2)s_(3)@C-1 with the optimal sb content shows high specific capacities,comparable rate properties and ultra-stable cycling performances(250 m Ah·g^(-1)after 2500 cycles at 1 A·g^(-1)for sodium-ion batteries).Ex situ x-ray diffractometer(xRD)test reveals the storage mechanism including the conversion and alloying process of Mxene-sb/sb_(2)s_(3)@*** voltammetry(CV)test results demonstrate that the pseudocapacitance behavior is dominant in Mxene-sb/sb_(2)s_(3)@C-1,especially at large *** design paves the way for exploring high-performance alloy-based/conversion-type anode for energy storage devices.

Volume of fluid simulation of single argon bubble dynamics in liquid steel under Rh vacuum conditions

single argon bubble dynamics in liquid steel under Ruhrstahl-heraeus(Rh)vacuum conditions were simulated using the volume of fluid method,and the ideal gas law was used to consider bubble growth due to heat transfer and pressure *** simulation with a constant bubble density was also performed to validate the numerical method,and the predicted terminal bubble shape and velocity were found to agree with those presented in the Grace diagram and calculated by drag correlation,*** simulation results under Rh conditions indicate that the terminal bubble shape and velocity cannot be *** primary bubble growth occurs within a rising distance of 0.3 m owing to heating by the high-temperature liquid steel;subsequently,the bubble continues to grow under equilibrium with the hydrostatic *** the initial diameter is 8-32 mm,the bubble diameter and rising velocity near the liquid surface are 80-200 mm and 0.5-0.8 m/s,*** bubble rises rectilinearly with an axisymmetric shape,and the shape evolution history includes an initial sphere,(dimpled)ellipsoid,and spherical cap with satellite bubbles.

Quantum search with prior knowledge

The combination of contextual side information and search is a powerful paradigm in the scope of artificial intelligence. The prior knowledge enables the identification of possible solutions but may be imperfect. Contextual information can arise naturally, for example in game AI where prior knowledge is used to bias move decisions. In this work we investigate the problem of taking quantum advantage of contextual information, especially searching with prior knowledge. we propose a new generalization of Grover's search algorithm that achieves the optimal expected success probability of finding the solution if the number of queries is fixed. Experiments on small-scale quantum circuits verify the advantage of our algorithm. since contextual information exists widely, our method has wide applications. we take game tree search as an example.

An ensemble learning method to retrieve sea ice roughness from sentinel-1 sAR images

sea ice surface roughness(sIR)affects the energy transfer between the atmosphere and the ocean,and it is also an important indicator for sea ice *** obtain a small-scale sIR with high spatial resolution,a novel method is proposed to retrieve sIR from sentinel-1 synthetic aperture radar(sAR)images,utilizing an ensemble learning ***,the two-dimensional continuous wavelet transform is applied to obtain the spatial information of sea ice,including the scale and direction of ice ***,a model is developed using the Adaboost Regression model to establish a relationship among sIR,radar backscatter and the spatial information of sea *** proposed method is validated by using the sIR retrieved from sAR images and comparing it to the measurements obtained by the Airborne Topographic Mapper(ATM)in the summer Beaufort *** determination of coefficient,mean absolute error,root-mean-square error and mean absolute percentage error of the testing data are 0.91,1.71 cm,2.82 cm,and 36.37%,respectively,which are ***,K-fold cross-validation and learning curves are analyzed,which also demonstrate the method’s applicability in retrieving sIR from sAR images.

hydrologic Response to Future Climate Change in the Dulong-Irra-waddy River Basin Based on Coupled Model Intercomparison Project 6

within the context of the Belt and Road Initiative(BRI)and the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor(CMEC),the Dulong-Ir-rawaddy(Ayeyarwady)River,an international river among China,India and Myanmar,plays a significant role as both a valuable hydro-power resource and an essential ecological ***,the water resources and security exhibit a high degree of vulnerabil-ity to climate change *** research evaluates climate impacts on the hydrology of the Dulong-Irrawaddy River Basin(DIRB)by using a physical-based hydrologic *** crafted future climate scenarios using the three latest global climate models(GCMs)from Coupled Model Intercomparison Project 6(CMIP6)under two shared socioeconomic pathways(ssP2-4.5 and ssP5-8.5)for the near(2025-2049),mid(2050-2074),and far future(2075-2099).The regional model using MIKE she based on historical hydrologic processes was developed to further project future streamflow,demonstrating reliable performance in streamflow simulations with a val-idation Nash-sutcliffe Efficiency(NsE)of *** showed that climate change projections showed increases in the annual precip-itation and potential evapotranspiration(peT),with precipitation increasing by 11.3%and 26.1%,and peT increasing by 3.2%and 4.9%,respectively,by the end of the century under ssP2-4.5 and *** changes are projected to result in increased annual streamflow at all stations,notably at the basin’s outlet(Pyay station)compared to the baseline period(with an increase of 16.1%and 37.0%at the end of the 21st century under ssP2-4.5 and ssP5-8.5,respectively).seasonal analysis for Pyay station forecasts an in-crease in dry-season streamflow by 31.3%-48.9%and 22.5%-76.3%under ssP2-4.5 and ssP5-8.5,respectively,and an increase in wet-season streamflow by 5.8%-12.6%and 2.8%-33.3%,***,the magnitude and frequency of flood events are pre-dicted to escalate,potentially impacting hydropower production and food security *** res

Comparison of Direct Pore-scale and Volume-Averaging Methods for the performance Evaluation of Porous Volumetric solar Receiver

Direct pore-scale and volume-averaging numerical simulations are two methods for investigating the performance of porous volumetric solar *** clarify the difference in the prediction of heat transfer processes,a direct comparison between these two methods was conducted at both steady state and transient *** numerical models were established based on x-ray computed tomography scans and a local thermal non-equilibrium model,*** empirical parameters,which are indispensable to the volume-averaging simulation,were determined by Monte Carlo ray tracing and direct pore-scale numerical *** predicted outlet air temperature of the receiver by the volume-averaging simulation method corresponded satisfactorily to that in the direct pore-scale *** largest discrepancies were observed when the receiver's working temperature was elevated,with differences of 5.5%and 3.68%for the steady state and transient state simulations,***,the volume-averaging method is incapable of capturing the local temperature information of the air and porous *** underestimates the inlet temperature of the receiver,leading to an overestimation of the receiver's thermal efficiency,with the largest difference being 6.51%.The comparison results show that the volume-averaging model is a good approximation to the pore-scale model when the empirical parameters are carefully selected.

Metal-to-insulator transitions in 3d-band correlated oxides containing Fe compositions

Metal-to-insulator transitions (MITs),which are achieved in 3d-band correlated transitional metal oxides,trigger abrupt variations in electrical,optical,and/or magnetic properties beyond those of conventional *** such material families,iron(Fe:3d^(6)4s^(2))-containing oxides pique interest owing to their widely tunable MIT properties,which are associated with the various valence states of *** potential electronic applications also show promise,given the large abundance of Fe on *** MIT properties triggered by critical temperature (TMIT) were reported for ReFe_(2)O_(4)(Fe^(2.5+)),ReBaFe_(2)O_(5)(Fe^(2.5+)),Fe_(3)O_(4)(Fe^(2.67+)),Re_(1/3)sr_(2/3)FeO_(3)(Fe^(3.67+)),Re Cu_(3)Fe_(4)O_(12)(Fe^(3.75+)),and Ca_(1-x)sr_(x)FeO_(3)(Fe^(4+))(where Re represents rare-earth elements).The common feature of MITs of these Fe-containing oxides is that they are usually accompanied by charge ordering transitions or disproportionation associated with the valence states of ***,we review the material family of Fe-containing MIT oxides,their MIT functionalities,and their respective *** the perspective of potentially correlated electronic applications,the tunability of the TMITand its resultant resistive change in Fe-containing oxides are summarized and further compared with those of other materials exhibiting MIT *** particular,we highlight the abrupt MIT and wide tunability of TMITof Fe-containing quadruple perovskites,such as Re ***,their effective material synthesis still needs to be further explored to cater to potential applications.

Tungsten oxide/nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes composite catalysts for enhanced redox kinetics in lithium-sulfur batteries

The sluggish redox kinetics of polysulfides in lithium-sulfur(Li-s)batteries are a significant obstacle to their widespread adoption as energy storage ***,recent studies have shown that tungsten oxide(wO_(3))can facilitate the conversion kinetics of polysulfides in Li-s ***,we fabricated host materials for sulfur using nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes(N-CNTs)and wO_(3).we used low-cost components and simple procedures to overcome the poor electrical conductivity that is a disadvantage of metal *** composites of wO_(3) and N-CNTs(wO_(3)/N-CNTs)create a stable framework structure,fast ion diffusion channels,and a 3D electron transport network during electrochemical reaction *** a result,the wO_(3)/N-CNT-Li2s6 cathode demonstrates high initial capacity(1162 mA·h·g^(-1) at 0.5℃),excellent rate performance(618 mA·h·g^(-1) at 5.5℃),and a low capacity decay rate(0.093%up to 600 cycles at 2℃).This work presents a novel approach for preparing tungsten oxide/carbon composite catalysts that facilitate the redox kinetics of polysulfide conversion.
