In this paper， an image processing algorithm which is able to synthesize material textures of arbitrary shapes is proposed. The presented approach uses an arbitrary image to construct a structure layer of the material. The resulting structure layer is then used to constrain the material texture synthesis. The field of second-moment matrices is used to represent the structure layer. Many tests with various constraint images are conducted to ensure that the proposed approach accurately reproduces the visual aspects of the input material sample. The results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm is able to accurately synthesize arbitrary-shaped material textures while respecting the local characteristics of the exemplar. This paves the way toward the synthesis of 3D material textures of arbitrary shapes from 2D material samples， which has a wide application range in virtual material design and materials characterization.

In this work, the natural radionuclide concentrations of the 226Ra, 228Ra, 232Th and 40K were estimated from samples of cattle and poultry fodder, south Valley University farms and Qena Governorate farm, Qena, Upper Egypt. The radionuclide concentrations and annual consumption rate of twenty-nine animal fodders were analyzed using low-level γ-spectrometer, including a mixture fodder, silage, hay, rice straw, and poultry fodder. The irradiation risk of human health was assessed due to indirect ingestion of the beef, milk, poultry and egg, the annual effective dose of the radionuclides for the local consumer was 2.7, 14, 0.1, and 0.14 μsv·y–1, respectively.

The modern nonlinear theory, bifurcation and chaos theory are used in this paper to analyze the dynamics of the Rikitake two-disk dynamo system. The mathematical model of the Rikitake system consists of three nonlinear differential equations, which found to be the same as the mathematical model of the well-known Lorenz system. The study showed that under certain value of control parameter, the system experiences a chaotic behaviour. The experienced chaotic oscillation may simulate the reversal of the Earth’s magnetic field. The main objective of this paper is to control the chaotic behaviour in Rikitake system. so, a nonlinear controller based on the slide mode control theory is designed. The study showed that the designed controller was so effective in controlling the unstable chaotic oscillations.

This is Part II of a two-part paper that explores the 28-nm UTBB FD-sOI CMOs and the 22-nm Tri-Gate FinFET technology as the better alternatives to bulk transistors especially when the transistor’s architecture is going fully depleted and its size is becoming much smaller, 28-nm and above. Reliability tests of those alternatives are first discussed. Then, a comparison is made between the two alternative transistors comparing their physical properties, electrical properties, and their preferences in different applications.

Background: FoxP3 gene variants have been linked to endometriosis, infertility, and autoimmune illnesses, according to numerous researches. Maternal sensitivity to the PE gene and the genetic variations of FoxP3 has not been thoroughly investigated. Objective: Investigation of the immune-histochemical expression of FoxP3 in placental tissue of PE patients. Methods: A total of 26 pre-eclamptic women as a case and 26 ethnically matched healthy pregnant women as a control group aged between 18 and 40 years old of different gravidity and parity referred to the labor ward for delivery either by vaginal delivery or cesarean section was enrolled to investigate the immunohistochemical expression of FOXP3 in placental tissue of PE patients. Results: Lower expression of FOXP3 IHC was statistically significant and noted in the group of preeclampsia compared to the healthy control group. Lower gestational age at delivery and a higher percentage of cesarean section were statistically significant and noted in the group of preeclampsia compared to the healthy control group. Conclusion: In comparison to the healthy control group, preeclampsia patients had statistically significantly lower FOXP3 IHC expression, and FOXP3 polymorphism was associated with the development of PE. Our findings can serve as a guide for statistical analyses and functional investigations that are more in-depth.

One of the most popular standards for protecting confidential information is the Data Encryption standard (DEs). Although it has been replaced by the Advanced Encryption standard (AEs), it is still widely used in Automatic Teller Machines (ATM’s), smartcards, and mobile phone sIM cards. In this paper, we present area-efficient and high-throughput FPGA implementations of the DEs which are developed using the Xilinx FPGA IsE design suite. In fact, we propose modifications on the fastest DEs design reported in the literature and achieve 1.1 times higher speed. Also, we introduce an 8-stage pipelined design that needs only 0.75 times the registers and consumes 0.65 times the power of a similar 16-stages pipelined design. High-speed design and synthesis optimization techniques including pipelining, register retiming, and logic replication are used. Post- layout synthesis results show that the proposed implementations achieve high throughput-to-area ratio. To make a fair comparison, the proposed designs were synthesized using matching FPGA devices as being used by other implementations reported in the literature.
