Pancreatic cancer is one of the worst prognostic cancers because of the late diagnosis and the absence of effective treatment. Within all subtypes of this disease, ductal adenocarcinoma has the shortest survival time. In recent years,global genomics profiling allowed the identification of hundreds of genes that are perturbed in pancreatic cancer. The integration of different omics sources in the study of pancreatic cancer has revealed several molecular mechanisms, indicating the complex history of its development. However, validation of these genes as biomarkers for early diagnosis, prognosis or treatment efficacy is still incomplete but should lead to new approaches for the treatment of the disease in the future.

Three vaned diffusers, designed to have high negative incidence (-8°) at the design operating point, are studied experimentally. The overall performance (efficiency and pressure ratio) are measured at three rotational speeds, and flow angles before and after the diffuser are measured at the design rotational speed and with three mass flow rates. The results are compared to corresponding results of the original vaneless diffuser design. Attention is paid to the performance at lower mass flows than the design mass flow. The results show that it is possible to improve the performance at mass flows lower than the design mass flow with a vaned diffuser designed with high negative incidence. However, with the vaned diffusers, the compressor still stalls at higher mass flow rates than with the vaneless one. The flow angle distributions after the diffuser are more uniform with the vaned diffusers.

Let q ≥ 3 be an integer, and χ be a Dirichlet character modulo q, L（s, χ） denote the Dirichlet L-function corresponding to χ. In this paper, we show some early information on the mean value of the Dirichlet L-functions and give some new identities forwhere a = 2, 3, or 4. In order to improve the turbocharging process,a supersonic axial turbine stator was modelled numerically with a pulsatile inlet mass *** main objectives of the study were to find out how pulsation affects the flow field and the performance of the *** the beginning of the study,a supersonic turbine stator was modelled using three different techniques:quasi-steady,time-accurate with constant boundary conditions and time-accurate with a pulsatile inlet mass *** time-averaged and quasi-steady flow fields and performance were compared,and the flow field and stator performance with a pulsatile inlet mass flow was studied in detail at different time-steps.A hysteresis-like behaviour was captured when the total-to-static pressure ratio and efficiency were plotted as a function of the inlet mass flow over one pulse *** total-to-static pressure ratio and efficiency followed the sinusoidal shape of the inlet flow as a function of *** was also concluded that the stator efficiency decreases downstream from the stator trailing edge and the amplitude of the pulsating mass flow is decreased at the stator throat.

In this work,we present a fully atomistic approach to modeling a finishing process with the goal to shed light on aspects of work piece development on the microscopic scale,which are difficult or even impossible to observe in experiments,but highly relevant for the resulting material *** a large-scale simulative parametric study,we varied four of the most relevant grinding parameters:The work piece material,the abrasive shape,the temperature,and the infeed *** order to validate our model,we compared the normalized surface roughness,the power spectral densities,the steady-state contact stresses,and the microstructure with proportionally scaled macroscopic experimental *** the grain sizes vary by a factor of more than 1,000 between experiment and simulation,the characteristic process parameters were reasonably reproduced,to some extent even allowing predictions of surface quality degradation due to tool *** the experimentally validated model,we studied time-resolved stress profiles within the ferrite/steel work piece as well as maps of the microstructural changes occurring in the near-surface *** found that blunt abrasives combined with elevated temperatures have the greatest and most complex impact on near-surface microstructure and stresses,as multiple processes are in mutual competition here.
