Dominant technology formation is the key for the hightech industry to“cross the chasm”and gain an established foothold in the market(and hence disrupt the regime).Therefore,a stimulus-response model is proposed to investigate the dominant technology by exploring its formation process and mechanism.specifically,based on complex adaptive system theory and the basic stimulus-response model,we use a combination of agent-based modeling and system dynamics modeling to capture the interactions between dominant technology and the socio-technical landscape.The results indicate the following:(i)The dynamic interaction is“stimulus-reaction-selection”,which promotes the dominant technology’s formation.(ii)The dominant technology’s formation can be described as a dynamic process in which the adaptation intensity of technology standards increases continuously until it becomes the leading technology under the dual action of internal and external mechanisms.(iii)The dominant technology’s formation in the high-tech industry is influenced by learning ability,the number of adopting users and adaptability.Therein,a“critical scale”of learning ability exists to promote the formation of leading technology:a large number of adopting users can promote the dominant technology’s formation by influencing the adaptive response of technology standards to the socio-technical landscape and the choice of technology standards by the socio-technical landscape.There is a minimum threshold and a maximum threshold for the role of adaptability in the dominant technology’s formation.(iv)The socio-technical landscape can promote the leading technology’s shaping in the high-tech industry,and different elements have different effects.This study promotes research on the formation mechanism of dominant technology in the high-tech industry,presents new perspectives and methods for researchers,and provides essential enlightenment for managers to formulate technology strategies.

cell replacement therapy using neural progenitor cells(NPcs)has been shown to be an effective treatment for ischemic stroke.However,the therapeutic effect is unsatisfactory due to the imbalanced homeostasis of the local microenvironment after ischemia.Microenvironmental acidosis is a common imbalanced homeostasis in the penumbra and could activate acid-sensing ion channels 1a(AsIc1a),a subunit of proton-gated cation channels following ischemic stroke.However,the role of AsIc1a in NPcs post-ischemia remains elusive.Here,our results indicated that AsIc1a was expressed in NPcs with channel functionality,which could be activated by extracellular acidification.Further evidence revealed that AsIc1a activation inhibited NPc migration and neurogenesis through RhoA signaling-mediated reorganization of filopodia formation,which could be primarily reversed by pharmacological or genetic disruption of AsIc1a.In vivo data showed that the knockout of the AsIc1a gene facilitated NPc migration and neurogenesis in the penumbra to improve behavioral recovery after stroke.

A sharding scheme Based on Graph Partitioning Algorithm for Public Blockchain

Blockchain technology,with its attributes of decentralization,immutability,and traceability,has emerged as a powerful catalyst for enhancing traditional industries in terms of optimizing business processes.However,transaction performance and scalability has become the main challenges hindering the widespread adoption of blockchain.Due to its inability to meet the demands of high-frequency trading,blockchain cannot be adopted in many scenarios.To improve the transaction capacity,researchers have proposed some on-chain scaling technologies,including lightning networks,directed acyclic graph technology,state channels,and shardingmechanisms,inwhich sharding emerges as a potential scaling technology.Nevertheless,excessive cross-shard transactions and uneven shard workloads prevent the sharding mechanism from achieving the expected aim.This paper proposes a graphbased sharding scheme for public blockchain to efficiently balance the transaction distribution.Bymitigating crossshard transactions and evening-out workloads among shards,the scheme reduces transaction confirmation latency and enhances the transaction capacity of the blockchain.Therefore,the scheme can achieve a high-frequency transaction as well as a better blockchain scalability.Experiments results show that the scheme effectively reduces the cross-shard transaction ratio to a range of 35%-56%and significantly decreases the transaction confirmation latency to 6 s in a blockchain with no more than 25 shards.

cAW-YOLO:cross-Layer Fusion and Weighted Receptive Field-Based YOLO for small Object Detection in Remote sensing

In recent years,there has been extensive research on object detection methods applied to optical remote sensing images utilizing convolutional neural networks.Despite these efforts,the detection of small objects in remote sensing remains a formidable challenge.The deep network structure will bring about the loss of object features,resulting in the loss of object features and the near elimination of some subtle features associated with small objects in deep layers.Additionally,the features of small objects are susceptible to interference from background features contained within the image,leading to a decline in detection accuracy.Moreover,the sensitivity of small objects to the bounding box perturbation further increases the detection difficulty.In this paper,we introduce a novel approach,cross-Layer Fusion and Weighted Receptive Field-based YOLO(cAW-YOLO),specifically designed for small object detection in remote sensing.To address feature loss in deep layers,we have devised a cross-layer attention fusion module.Background noise is effectively filtered through the incorporation of Bi-Level Routing Attention(BRA).To enhance the model’s capacity to perceive multi-scale objects,particularly small-scale objects,we introduce a weightedmulti-receptive field atrous spatial pyramid poolingmodule.Furthermore,wemitigate the sensitivity arising from bounding box perturbation by incorporating the joint Normalized Wasserstein Distance(NWD)and Efficient Intersection over Union(EIoU)losses.The efficacy of the proposedmodel in detecting small objects in remote sensing has been validated through experiments conducted on three publicly available datasets.The experimental results unequivocally demonstrate the model’s pronounced advantages in small object detection for remote sensing,surpassing the performance of current mainstream models.

Iron-sulfur clusters(Isc)are essential cofactors for proteins involved in various biological processes,such as electron transport,biosynthetic reactions,DNA repair,and gene expression regulation.Isc assembly protein IscA1(or MagR)is found within the mitochondria of most eukaryotes.Magnetoreceptor(MagR)is a highly conserved A-type iron and iron-sulfur cluster-binding protein,characterized by two distinct types of iron-sulfur clusters,[2Fe-2s]and[3Fe-4s],each conferring unique magnetic properties.MagR forms a rod-like polymer structure in complex with photoreceptive cryptochrome(cry)and serves as a putative magnetoreceptor for retrieving geomagnetic information in animal navigation.Although the N-terminal sequences of MagR vary among species,their specific function remains unknown.In the present study,we found that the N-terminal sequences of pigeon MagR,previously thought to serve as a mitochondrial targeting signal(MTs),were not cleaved following mitochondrial entry but instead modulated the efficiency with which iron-sulfur clusters and irons are bound.Moreover,the N-terminal region of MagR was required for the formation of a stable MagR/cry complex.Thus,the N-terminal sequences in pigeon MagR fulfil more important functional roles than just mitochondrial targeting.These results further extend our understanding of the function of MagR and provide new insights into the origin of magnetoreception from an evolutionary perspective.

Near-surface wind field characteristics of the desert-oasis transition zone in Dunhuang,china

The desert-oasis transition zone(DOTZ)serves as a buffer area between the desert and oasis.Understanding its wind field characteristics is of great significance for the prevention and control of aeolian disasters in the oasis.In this study,we used meteorological data during 2013–2019 from the portable meteorological stations at five sites(site A on the edge of the oasis,sites B,c,and D in the DOTZ,and site O in the desert)in Dunhuang,china to analyze the near-surface wind field characteristics and their causes,as well as to reveal the key role of the DOTZ in oasis protection.The results showed that the mean wind speed,frequency of sand-driving wind,and directional variability of wind decreased from west to east within the DOTZ,and wind speed was significantly affected by air temperature.The terrain influenced the prevailing winds in the region,mainly from northeast and southwest.Only some areas adjacent to the oasis were controlled by southeasterly wind.This indicated that the near-surface wind field characteristics of the DOTZ were caused by the combined effects of local terrain and surface hydrothermal difference.At site D,the annual drift potential(DP)was 24.95 vector units(VU),indicating a low wind energy environment,and the resultant drift direction(RDD)showed obvious seasonal differences.Additionally,the DOTZ played an important buffering role between the desert and oasis.compared with the desert,the mean wind speed in the oasis decreased by 64.98%,and the prevailing wind direction was more concentrated.The results of this study will be useful in interpreting the aeolian activity of the DOTZ in Dunhuang.

Electroacupuncture improves cognitive function in a rat model of mild traumatic brain injury by regulating the sIRT-1/PGc-1α/mitochondrial pathway

Background:Mild traumatic brain injury(mTBI)is a common neurological trauma that can lead to cognitive impairment.The sirtuin-1(sIRT-1)/peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator-1α(PGc-1α)pathway has been reported to have neuroprotective effects in rats with craniocerebral injury.We evaluated potential mechanisms underlying electroacupuncture-mediated recovery of cognitive function after mTBI,focusing on the sIRT-1/PGc-1α/mitochondrial pathway.Methods:We included forty 6-week-old male sprague-Dawley rats in this study.Rats were randomly divided into four groups:controlled cortical impactor(ccI,n=10),sham operation(sham,n=10),electroacupuncture-treated ccI(ccI+EA,n=10),and electroacupuncture-treated sham(sham+EA,n=10)group.Randomization was performed by assigning a random number to each rat and using a random number table.The mTBI rat model was established using a controllable cortical impactor.Electroacupuncture therapy was performed on the back of rats,by inserting acupuncture needles to the specific acupoints and setting appropriate parameters for treatment.We evaluated spatial learning and memory functions with the Morris water maze test.We performed quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PcR),western blotting,adenosine triphosphate(ATP)determination,and mitochondrial respiratory chain complex I(MRcc I)determination on rat hippocampal tissue.We analyzed sIRT-1/PGc-1α expression levels and the results of mitochondrial function assays,and compared differences between groups using bilateral student’s t-tests.Results:compared with the sham group,sIRT-1/PGc-1α expression was downregulated in the hippocampus of ccI group(Ps expression was upregulated following electroacupuncture,it did not reach the levels observed in the sham group(Pcompared with the sham group,MRcc I and ATP levels in the ccI group were significantly reduced,and increased after electroacupuncture(Ps water maze,electroacupuncture reduced the incubation period of rats and

Mitochondria are critical cellular energy resources and are central to the life of the neuron.Mitophagy selectively clears damaged or dysfunctional mitochondria through autophagic machinery to maintain mitochondrial quality control and homeostasis.Mature neurons are postmitotic and consume substantial energy,thus require highly efficient mitophagy pathways to turn over damaged or dysfunctional mitochondria.Recent evidence indicates that mitophagy is pivotal to the pathogenesis of neurological diseases.However,more work is needed to study mitophagy pathway components as potential therapeutic targets.In this review,we briefly discuss the characteristics of nonselective autophagy and selective autophagy,including ERphagy,aggrephagy,and mitophagy.We then introduce the mechanisms of Parkin-dependent and Parkin-independent mitophagy pathways under physiological conditions.Next,we summarize the diverse repertoire of mitochondrial membrane receptors and phospholipids that mediate mitophagy.Importantly,we review the critical role of mitophagy in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s disease,Parkinson’s disease,and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.Last,we discuss recent studies considering mitophagy as a potential therapeutic target for treating neurodegenerative diseases.Together,our review may provide novel views to better understand the roles of mitophagy in neurodegenerative disease pathogenesis.

Investigation of the active ingredients and mechanism of shuangling extract in dextran sulfate sodium salt induced ulcerative colitis mice based on network pharmacology and experimental verification

OBJEcTIVE: To explore the pharmacodynamic effects and potential mechanisms of shuangling extract against ulcerative colitis(Uc). METHODs: The bioinformatics method was used to predict the active ingredients and action targets of shuangling extract against Uc in mice. And the biological experiments such as serum biochemical indexes and histopathological staining were used to verify the pharmacological effect and mechanism of shuangling extract against Uc in mice. REsULTs: The shuangling extract reduced the levels of seruminterleukin-1β(IL-1β), tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-N), interleukin-6(IL-6) and other inflammatory factors in Uc mice and inhibited the inflammatory response. AKT serine/threonine Kinase 1 and IL-6 may be the main targets of the anti-Uc action of shuangling extract, and the TNF signaling pathway, Forkhead box O signaling pathway and T-cell receptor signaling pathway may be the main signaling pathways. cONcLUsION: The shuangling extract could inhibit the inflammatory response induced by Uc and regulate intestinal immune function through multiple targets and multiple channels, which provided a new option and theoretical basis for anti-Uc.
