Novel electrocardiographic dyssynchrony criteria that may improve patient selection for cardiac resynchronization therapy

Cardiac resynchronization therapy(CRT)is an evidence-based effective therapy of symptomatic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction refractory to optimal medical treatment associated with intraventricular conduction disturbance,that results in electrical dyssynchrony and further deterioration of systolic ventricular ***,the non-response rate to CRT is still 20%−40%,which can be decreased by better patient *** main determinant of CRT outcome is the presence or absence of significant ventricular dyssynchrony and the ability of the applied CRT technique to eliminate *** current guidelines recommend the determination of QRs morphology and QRs duration and the measurement of left ventricular ejection fraction for patient selection for ***,QRs morphology and QRs duration are not perfect indicators of electrical dyssynchrony,which is the cause of the not negligible non-response rate to CRT and the missed CRT implantation in a significant number of patients who have the appropriate substrate for *** imaging modalities,many ventricular dyssynchrony criteria were devised for the detection of mechanical dyssynchrony,but their utility in patient selection for CRT is not yet proven,therefore their use is not recommended for this ***,CRT can eliminate only mechanical dyssynchrony due to underlying electrical dyssynchrony,for this reason ECG has a greater role in the detection of ventricular dyssynchrony than imaging *** improve assessment of electrical dyssynchrony,we devised two novel ECG dyssynchrony criteria,which can estimate interventricular and left ventricular intraventricular dyssynchrony in order to improve patient selection for *** we discuss the results achieved by the application of these new ECG dyssynchrony criteria,which proved to be useful in predicting the CRT response in patients with nonspecific intraventricular conduction disturbance pattern(the second greatest group of CRT candidates),an

Emergence of life——how and where?——An update based on recent ideas

Panspermic origins notwithstanding, life, assuming that it started on Earth, may have taken root as soon as it became geologically permissible. There are multiple possibilities for early biogenesis from complex inorganic/organic geochemistry at diverse geological niches. Recent theoretical calculations have revived the possibility of Earth having a rather reduced early atmosphere, and had refueled arguments for a surface origin of life. Laboratory modeling of possible prebiotic RNA polymerization has seen interesting experimental advances, although a plausible replicator-like molecule has not yet been produced. The hydrothermal origin school of thought has also seen an interesting postulation for life’s early emergence and evolution—within contiguous, porous hydrothermal iron-sulfide (Fes) compartments, leading to a non-free living last universal common ancestor (LUCA). A confined LUCA evolving later into free-living archaebacteria and eubacteria could potentially reconcile some problems of molecular divergence between these two kingdoms. There are, however, many unresolved problems, and experimental evidence for such a scheme is lacking. Here, recent updates and refinements to the mainstay hypotheses for the emergence of life on Earth are reviewed and discussed.

Consortium Chain Consensus Vulnerability and Chain Generation Mechanism

Effectively identifying and preventing the threat of Byzantine nodes to the security of distributed systems is a challenge in applying consortium ***,this paper proposes a new consortium chain generation model,deeply analyzes the vulnerability of the consortium chain consensus based on the behavior of the nodes,and points out the effects of Byzantine node proportion and node state verification on the consensus process and system ***,the normalized verification node aggregation index that represents the consensus ability of the consortium organization and the trust evaluation function of the verification node set is *** either of the two is lower than the threshold,the consortium institution or the verification node set members are dynamically *** this basis,an innovative consortium chain generation mechanism based on the Asynchronous Binary Byzantine Consensus Mechanism(ABBCM)is *** on the extended consortium chain consensus mechanism,a certain consensus value set can be combined into multiple proposals,which can realize crossdomain asynchronous message passing between multi-consortium chains without reducing the system’s *** addition,experiments are carried out under four classical Byzantine Attack(BA)behaviors,BA1 to *** results show that the proposed method can obtain better delay than the classical random Byzantine consensus algorithm Coin,effectively improving the consensus efficiency based on asynchronous message passing in the consortium chain and thus meeting the throughput of most Internet of Things(IoT)applications.

Analytical and numerical studies have shown that multipolar vortices can emerge in two-dimensional flow due to azimuthal normal mode perturbations of shielded *** has been found that mode 2 and 3 perturbations can lead to the formation of stable tripoles and quadrapoles,respectively,while higher order modes result in more complex unstable compound *** have used the lattice Boltzmann method to simulate the effect of azimuthal perturbations on shielded vortices at moderate Reynolds *** have found that azimuthal normal mode perturbations result in the formation of multipoles,which decay due to viscous *** could also observe that the outcome of such simulations is very sensitive to the displacement of perturbations above wavenumber-3 excitations,in spite of the significant viscosity we used.

Lower bounds on the minimum distance in Hermitian one-point differential codes

Korchmaros and Nagy [Hermitian codes from higher degree places. J Pure Appl Algebra, doi： 10. 1016/***.2013.04.002, 2013] computed the Weierstrass gap sequence G（P） of the Hermitian function field Fq2 （H） at any place P of degree 3, and obtained an explicit formula of the Matthews-Michel lower bound on the minimum distance in the associated differential Hermitian code CΩ（D, mP） where the divisor D is, as usual, the sum of all but one 1-degree Fq2-rational places of Fq2 （H） and m is a positive integer. For plenty of values of m depending on q, this provided improvements on the designed minimum distance of CΩ（D, mP）. Further improvements from G（P） were obtained by Korchmaros and Nagy relying on algebraic geometry. Here slightly weaker improvements are obtained from G（P） with the usual function-field method depending on linear series, Riemann-Roch theorem and Weierstrass semigroups. We also survey the known results on this subject.

Endangered lowland oak forest steppe remnants keep unique bird species richness in Central Hungary

The biodiversity of natural or semi-natural native,old oak woodlands have high conservation importance,especially in landscapes of monocultural forest plantations and arable *** a wider variety of microhabitats and foraging sources,such old oak forests can provide essential habitat for native forest bird *** conducted a study using bird point counts to compare the forest bird communities of old pedunculate oak(Quercus robur)remnants with native and non-native plantations in central Hungary in a landscape of mostly arable fields,settlements,and monocultural *** surveys were carried out in old oak forest remnants,middle-aged oak,white poplar(Populus alba),hybrid poplar(Populus×euramericana),black locust(Robinia pseudoacacia),and pine(Pinus spp.)*** has been carried out in nine study sites,where all six habitat types were represented(with a few exceptions),to determine total abundance,species richness,shannon–Wiener diversity,species evenness,dominant and indicator species,and guild *** found that old oak forest remnants were the most diverse habitats among the studied forest types,while hybrid poplar and pine plantations exhibited the lowest avian *** avian guilds most sensitive to the loss of old oak forest remnants were ground foragers,bark foragers,cavity-nesters,residents,and Mediterranean migratory *** habitats were more diverse than non-native *** results suggest that it is important to conserve all remaining high biodiversity old oak stands and to avoid clear-cutting of monocultural plantations in favour of practices such as mixed-species plantations,longer rotation lengths,or retention forestry.

Tracking people through partial occlusions

This article presents a novel people-tracking approach to cope with partial occlusions caused by scene objects. Instead of predicting when and where the occlusions will occur, a part-based model is used to model the pixel distribution of the target body under occlusion. The subdivided patches corresponding to a template image will be tracked independently using Markov chain Monte Carlo （MCMC） method. A set of voting-based rules is established for the patch-tracking result to verify if the target is indeed located at the estimated position. Experiments show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Double-brooding and annual breeding success of great tits in urban and forest habitats

Urban areas differ from natural habitats in several environmental features that influence the characteristics of animals living *** example,birds often start breeding seasonally earlier and fledge fewer offspring per brood in cities than in natural ***,longer breeding seasons in cities may increase the frequency of double-brooding in urban compared with nonurban populations,thus potentially increasing urban birds’annual reproductive output and resulting in lower habitat difference in reproductive success than estimated by studies focusing on first clutches *** this study,we investigated 2 urban and 2 forests great tit Parus major populations from 2013 to *** compared the probability of double-brooding and the total number of annually fledged chicks per female between urban and forest habitats,while controlling for the effects of potentially confounding *** was a trend for a higher probability of double-brooding in urban(44%of females)than in forest populations(36%),although this was not consistent between the 2 urban *** produced significantly fewer fledglings annually in the cities than in the forest sites,and this difference was present both within single-and double-brooded ***,double-brooded urban females produced a similar number of fledglings per season as single-brooded forest *** results indicate that double-brooding increases the reproductive success of female great tits in both habitats,but urban females cannot effectively compensate in this way for their lower reproductive output per ***,other mechanisms like increased post-fledging survival can mitigate habitat differences in reproductive success.
