Traditional fishing activities enhance the abundance of selected waterbird species in a wetland in India

background:Waterbirds are globally declining as a result of habitat loss, alteration or degradation. Fishing activities may affect waterbird distribution, abundance and diversity, and traditional fishing activities often enhance waterbird abundance. We tested this hypothesis by studying the abundance and diversity of selected common waterbird species in the Kadalundi–Vallikkunnu Community Reserve, a globally significant wetland in southwestern India in relation to fishing ***:We monitored waterbird abundance four times a month from 2012 to 2015 using direct observation method during low tide. Traditional bamboo fish traps were deployed during the first and third weeks of each month. ANOVAs(one-way and multi-way) were used to examine how waterbird counts diversity varied in relation to years, seasons and period of fishing traps. Additionally we conducted a linear regression to examine the relationship between fish occurrence and waterbird counts and ***:Waterbird counts varied with years and seasons, with the maximum counts being recorded during the postmonsoon(winter). Individual species varied in their responses to trap deployment. small waterbird species usually forage in shallow shorelines, increased during trap deployment whereas the larger waterbirds were not affected by trap deployment because they tend to hunt in deeper waters. The total fish captured was an important predictor of both waterbird abundance and ***:In this study we documented a positive association between traditional fish trap deployment and waterbird counts and diversity. Providing high quality habitats for waterbirds as well as effective sustainable livelihoods through traditional fisheries is a critical management issue.

Offline signature verification(OfsV)is essential in preventing the falsification of *** learning(DL)based OfsVs require a high number of signature images to attain acceptable ***,a limited number of signature samples are available to train these models in a real-world *** researchers have proposed models to augment new signature images by applying various ***,on the other hand,have used human neuromotor and cognitive-inspired augmentation models to address the demand for more signature ***,augmenting a sufficient number of signatures with variations is still a challenging *** study proposed Offsig-sinGAN:a deep learning-based image augmentation model to address the limited number of signatures problem on offline signature *** proposed model is capable of augmenting better quality signatures with diversity from a single signature image *** is empirically evaluated on widely used public datasets;*** quality of augmented signature images is assessed using four metrics like pixel-by-pixel difference,peak signal-to-noise ratio(PsNR),structural similarity index measure(ssIM),and frechet inception distance(FID).Furthermore,various experiments were organised to evaluate the proposed image augmentation model’s performance on selected DL-based OfsV systems and to prove whether it helped to improve the verification accuracy *** results showed that the proposed augmentation model performed better on the GPDssyntheticsignature dataset than other augmentation *** improved verification accuracy rate of the selected DL-based OfsV system proved the effectiveness of the proposed augmentation model.

There is an increase in annual waste generation due to urbanization,industrialization,and population *** waste management crisis in developing countries and its complexity from region to region has inspired extensive research work in this *** management not only results in environmental hazards,but it also causes significant socio-economic *** to the absence of comprehensive studies on waste to energy(WTE)assessment,this study assesses and reports the merits of alternative technologies for converting WTE in small and medium-size *** analysis for waste collection data in this study uses a pilot study approach to provide useful insights and waste classification.A cantonment district of Pakistan(Wah Cantt)has been used as a case study for performing a technological and economic assessment of energy generation through the use of thermal and biological treatment processes.A mathematical modeling approach has been adopted for generating an economic value of each technology through which this waste can be ***,the levelized cost of energy(LCOE)based assessment has been performed to provide a methodological framework for selecting the most feasible WTE technology in a small or medium-size *** on the model results,anaerobic digestion appears to be the most sustainable technology due to the organic nature of waste in Wah Cantt,land legislation,and availability of area to install a waste *** all the waste collected,the district can generate approximately 14.4 MW of energy through thermal treatment,19,110 m^(3) of daily biogas through anaerobic digestion,and 5 million tons of fertilizer through ***,if a proper supply chain is established for converting a portion of Pakistan’s annual waste generation,a significant amount of waste energy potential can be restored.

Nonsmooth semi-Infinite Minmax Programming Involving Generalized(Φ, ρ)-Invexity

This paper introduces some new generalizations of the concept of （~, p）-invexity for non- differentiable locally Lipschitz functions using the tools of Clarke subdifferential. These functions are used to derive the necessary and sufficient optimality conditions for a class of nonsmooth semi-infinite minmax programming problems, where set of restrictions are indexed in a compact set. Utilizing the sufficient optimality conditions, the authors formulate three types of dual models and establish weak and strong duality results. The results of the paper extend and unify naturally some earlier results from the literature.

Radical scavenging and antibacterial activity of Arnebia benthamii methanol extract

Objective:To evaluate in vitro antioxidant and antibacterial activity of methanolic extract of Arnebia benthamii（***） whole ***:Plasmid damage was analyzed by agarose gell *** thymus DNA was monitored by TbARs ***, reducing power and lipid peroxidation was evaluated by using standard *** assay was monitored by disc diffusion ***:DPPH radical scavenging and hydroxyl radical scavenging potential of the plant revealed that the extract to be active radical ***(Fesup>3+sup>-Fesup>2+sup>) power and lipid peroxidation inhibition efficiency（TbARs assay） of the extract was also evaluated and the extract showed promising activity in preventing lipid peroxidation and might prevent oxidative damages to *** extract offered a significant protection against plasmid and calf thymus UNA damage induced by hydroxyl radicals. The extract was also evaluated on different bacterial strains and the maximum antibacterial activity was exhibited against Escherichia coli（***） when compared with standard drug. Conclusions:These findings demonstrate that the methanol extract of *** has excellent anti-oxidant activities and could be considered as a potential source of lead molecules for pharmaceutical industries.

A comprehensive approach to an equation of state for hard spheres and Lennard Jones fluids

We present a simple method of obtaining various equations of state for hard sphere fluid in a simple unifying way. We will guess equations of state by using suitable axiomatic functional forms （n = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5） for surface tension sn （r）, r≥ d/2 with intermolecular separation r as a variable, where m is an arbitrary real number （pole）. Among the equations of state obtained in this way are Percus-Yevick, scaled particle theory and Carnahan-starling equations of state. In addition, we have found a simple equation of state for the hard sphere fluid in the region that represents the simulation data accurately. It is found that for both hard sphere fluids as well as Lennard-Jones fluids, with m = 3/4 the derived equation of state （EOs） gives results which are in good agreement with computer simulation results. Furthermore, this equation of state gives the Percus-Yevick （pressure） EOs for the m = 0, the Carnahan-starling EOs for rn = 4/5, while for the value of m = 1 it corresponds to a scaled particle theory EOs.
