Effect of Risperidone and Fluoxetine on the Movement and Neurochemical Changes of Zebrafish

Brain developmental disorders in humans, including Autism spectrum Disorders (AsD) and Down’s syndrome, have been linked to increased serotonin levels. This work was designed to study changes in serotonin levels in the early stages of development with two classes of antipsychotic drugs: Risperidone, a drug that blocks serotonin and dopamine receptors, and fluoxetine, a serotonin reuptake inhibitor. The use of antipsychotic drugs is a solid choice to study the decrease and increase of these neurotransmitters and their influence on development. The study of these parameters will give an idea of the effects of serotonin in early developmental stages. To this end, we examined the effects of risperidone and fluoxetine on the locomotor activity, heart rate and brain development of zebrafish larvae. Our results showed that in larvae exposed to fluoxetine alone, swimming was significantly increased at 9 dpf (days post-fertilization). Erratic and abnormal movements were observed suggesting a toxic effect of fluoxetine. No erratic swimming was observed in larvae treated with fluoxetine plus risperidone. Both drugs presented morphological changes in dopaminergic neurons and mononeurons. Exposure to fluoxetine plus risperidone indicated possible reversal effects. studies in zebrafish allow obtaining new insights into the side effects of these drugs as well as into the brain control of locomotor activity. Testing several drug-induced changes in behavior and serotonin levels is one of the experimental approaches for screening a new therapeutically relevant compound, and thus, merits further research.

Production of chitosan from endolichenic fungi isolated from mangrove environment and its antagonistic activity

In tropical countries,scorpion sting is a significant cause of disease,leading to severe localized cutaneous reactions,neurologic impairments,and respiratory distress,as well as myocarditis[1].The world’s most poisonous scorpion species,Leiurus quinquestriatus,is found in southern Turkey and is a threat to the public’s health in all of the provinces,particularly in Adiyaman and its surrounding areas,which were hit by the recent Turkey and syria earthquake[1].

Comparative efficiency analysis of different nonlinear modelling strategies to simulate the biaxial response of RC columns

The performance of different nonlinear modelling strategies to simulate the response of RC columns subjected to axial load combined with cyclic biaxial horizontal loading is compared. The models studied are classified into two categories according to the nonlinearity distribution assumed in the elements： lumped-plasticity and distributed inelasticity. For this study, results of tests on 24 columns subjected to cyclic uniaxial and biaxial lateral displacements were numerically reproduced. The analyses show that the global envelope response is satisfactorily represented with the three modelling strategies, but significant differences were found in the strength degradation for higher drift demands and energy dissipation.

There was significant difference among the MIC of garlic on tested *** was more potent toward ***. The curry leaf solution on the other hand,did not show any zone of inhibition in all bacteria plates but adversely showed enhanced growth of those *** had shown its antibacterial effects on *** and *** clove was more potent toward *** with the MIC of 0.45 g/*** was more sensitive to clove compared to *** ***,it was more sensitive to garlic compared to clove. Conclusion:The antibacterial activity of garlic and clove crude extracts shown in our study further confirm these natural plants’potential usage in therapeutic use for oral diseases or *** could be the platform for the interested party to do research and development on it and to produce oral health products which are more affordable for lower economic income groups and with fewer side effects as seen in synthetic drug.

A lead-free relaxor ferroelectric,sr_(0.15)Ba_(0.85)Bi_(2)Nb_(2)O_(9),was synthesized via solid-state reaction and the temperature-dependence of the heat capacity was measured in a wide temperature *** dielectric permittivity was also measured between 500 Hz and 5 MHz in the same temperature *** anomaly has been detected in the heat capacity curve for the whole temperature range covered in the present experiments,while broad peaks have been observed in the dielectric permittivity with high frequency dispersion.A typical relaxor behavior has been observed from the dielectric *** Debye's temperature has showed a minimum value near the freezing *** results are discussed considering the spin-glass model and the high frequency dispersion,which has been observed for the studied relaxor system.

Hydrodynamic cavitation is one of the major phase change phenomena and occurs with a sudden decrease in the local static pressure within a *** the emergence of microelectromechanical systems(MEMs),high-speed microfluidic devices have attracted considerable attention and been implemented in many fields,including cavitation *** this study,a new generation of‘cavitation-on-a-chip’devices with eight parallel structured microchannels is *** new device is designed with the motivation of decreasing the upstream pressure(input energy)required for facile hydrodynamic cavitation *** and a poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA)microbubble(MB)suspension are used as the working *** results show that the cavitation inception upstream pressure can be reduced with the proposed device in comparison with previous studies with a single flow restrictive ***,using PVA MBs further results in a reduction in the upstream pressure required for cavitation *** this new device,different cavitating flow patterns with various intensities can be observed at a constant cavitation number and fixed upstream pressure within the same ***,cavitating flows intensify faster in the proposed device for both water and the water–PVA MB suspension in comparison to previous *** to these features,this next-generation‘cavitation-on-a-chip’device has a high potential for implementation in applications involving microfluidic/organ-on-a-chip devices,such as integrated drug release and tissue engineering.

Knowledge of the factors influencing nutrient-limited subtropical maize yield and subsequent prediction is crucial for effective nutrientmanagement,maximizing profitability,ensuring food security,and promoting environmental *** data fromnutrient omission plot trials(NOPTs)conducted in 324 farmers'fields across ten agroecological zones(AEZs)in the Eastern Indo-Gangetic Plains(EIGP)of Bangladesh to explain maize yield variability and identify variables controlling nutrient-limited *** additive main effect and multiplicative interaction(AMMI)model was used to explain maize yield variability with nutrient *** machine learning(ML)algorithms in automatic machine learning(AutoML)frameworks were subsequently used to predict attainable yield relative nutrient-limited yield(RY)and to rank variables that control *** stack-ensemble model was identified as the best-performing model for predicting RYs of N,P,and *** contrast,deep learning outperformed all base learners for predicting *** best model's square errors(RMsEs)were 0.122,0.105,0.123,and 0.104 for RY_(N),RY_(P),RY_(K),and RY_(Zn),*** permutation-based feature importance technique identified soil pH as the most critical variable controlling RY_(N)and RY_(P).The RY_(K)showed lower in the eastern longitudinal *** N and Zn were associated with *** predicted median RY of N,P,K,and Zn,representing average soil fertility,was 0.51,0.84,0.87,and 0.97,accounting for 44,54,54,and 48%upland dry season crop area of Bangladesh,*** are needed to update databases cataloging variability in land type inundation classes,soil characteristics,and INs and combine them with farmers'crop management information to develop more precise nutrient guidelines for maize in the EIGP.

Conversion-reaction induced charge storage mechanisms of transition metal sulphides have received considerable interest in designing high-capacity electrodes for electrochemical energy storage ***,their low conductivity and structural degradation during cycling limit their applications as energy storage devices.A combination of different nickel sulphide phases tailored with carbon nanostructures is suggested to address these ***,a facile,two-step approach is demonstrated for fabricating a hybrid electrode,consisting of trinickel disulphide(Ni_(3)s_(2))formed on a metallic Ni nanoparticle supported by vertical carbon nanotubes(VCN)backbone in the form Ni_(3)s_(2)/Ni@***_(3)s_(2)/Ni@VCN electrodes were tested as anode for lithium-ion batteries,and the electrode featured outstanding lithiumstorage capabilities with a high reversible capacity(1113 m Ah g^(-1) after 100 cycles at 100 m A g^(-1)),excellent long-term cycling stability(770 m Ah g^(-1) after 500 cycles at 200 m A g^(-1)),and good rate *** resulting electrode performance is one of the best Li-ion storage capabilities in the Ni_(3)s_(2)-type anode materials described.A unique “broccoli-like”structure of polycrystalline Ni_(3)s_(2)capped on conductive VCN backbone helps the interface storage process and boosts lithium storage performance.
