Background:Existing reporting guidelines pay insufficient attention to the detail and comprehensiveness reporting of surgical technique.The surgical techniqUe rePorting chEcklist and standaRds(sUPER)aims to address this gap by defining reporting standards for surgical technique.The sUPER guideline intends to apply to articles that encompass surgical technique in any study design,surgical discipline,and stage of surgical innovation.Methods:Following the EQUATOR(Enhancing the QUAlity and Transparency Of health Research)Network approach,16 surgeons,journal editors,and methodologists reviewed existing reporting guidelines relating to surgical technique,reviewed papers from 15 top journals,and brainstormed to draft initial items for the sUPER.The initial items were revised through a three-round Delphi survey from 21 multidisciplinary Delphi panel experts from 13 countries and regions.The final sUPER items were formed after an online consensus meeting to resolve disagreements and a three-round wording refinement by all 16 sUPER working group members and five sUPER consultants.Results:The sUPER reporting guideline includes 22 items that are considered essential for good and informative surgical technique reporting.The items are divided into six sections:background,rationale,and objectives(items 1 to 5);preoperative preparations and requirements(items 6 to 9);surgical technique details(items 10 to 15);postoperative considerations and tasks(items 16 to 19);summary and prospect(items 20 and 21);and other information(item 22).Conclusions:The sUPER reporting guideline has the potential to guide detailed,comprehensive,and transparent surgical technique reporting for surgeons.It may also assist journal editors,peer reviewers,systematic reviewers,and guideline developers in the evaluation of surgical technique papers and help practitioners to better understand and reproduce surgical technique.

A search for the doubly charmed baryon ?cc+with the decay mode ?cc+→Ξc+K-π+is performed using proton-proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV collected by the LHCb experiment from 2016 to 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb-1. No significant signal is observed within the invariant mass range of 3.6 to 4.0 GeV/c2. Upper limits are set on the ratio R of the production cross-section times the total branching fraction of the ?cc+→Ξc+K-π+decay with respect to the Ξcc++→Λc+K-π+π+decay. Upper limits at 95% credibility level for R in the range 0.005 to 0.11 are obtained for diferent hypotheses on the ?cc+mass and lifetime in the rapidity range from 2.0 to 4.5 and transverse momentum range from 4 to 15 GeV/c.

The diagnosis of polyarteritis nodosa (PAN) is often delayed because patients present with diverse clinical symptoms, but with less disease-specific signs. However, early diagnosis and treatment of PAN is necessary to prevent serious organ damage. Herein,we present a boy in whom the diagnosis of classical PAN was established rapidly with ultrasound and computed tomography (CT) angiography. Moreover, complete disappearance of the aneurysms after one month of therapy was documented. This case is presented in order to underline the role of new imaging techniques in the diagnosis and follow-up of patients with PAN.

Esophageal varice eradication results in gastric hemodynamic changes. The aim of this study was to detect the influence of variceal eradication on portal hypertensive gastropathy (PHG)and fundal varices and to compare the results of two therapeutic methods (endoscopic variceal ligation and endoscopic sclerotherapy). A total of 114 consecutive patients with cirrhosis and portal hypertension who underwent elective endoscopic variceal ligation (EVL) (85 patients) or endoscopic sclerotherapy (EsT) (29 patients) for obliteration of esophageal varices were selected for this study. Both groups were compared for PHG and fundal varice formation before and after eradication. Fifty-eight (68.2%) patients in the EVL and 18 (62.1%) patients in the EsT group had PHG before esophageal varice eradication (P > 0.05). PHG grade after eradication of esophageal varices by both EVL and EsT was significantly higher compared to preeradication. PHG grade and aggregation were similar in both groups. Thirty-seven patients (34 F1, 3 F2) in the EVL group and 13 patients (10 F1, 3 F2) in the EsT group had fundal varices before variceal eradication (P > 0.05). Fundal varices were detected in 46 (35 F1, 11F2) and 19 (11F1, 8F 2) patients in the EVL and EsT groups after eradication, respectively. There was a statistically significant increment in occurrence of fundal varices after eradication with EVL and EsT groups. There was no significant difference regarding fundal varice development after esophageal variceal eradication in both groups. After varical eradication, PHG was found in 57 (87.7%) and 39 (79.6%) patients with and without fundal varices, respectively (P > 0.05). Esophageal eradication with EVL and EsT increases both the incidence and the severity of PHG and fundal varice formation. Both methods have comparable influences on PHG and fundal varices.
