In this study, the optimum insulation thickness of the external walls of the housing and it’s energy saving and environmental impact in the provinces—Ardahan, Aydin, Eskisehir and samsun—located in four different climate regions of Turkey was calculated for the expanded polystyrene and polyurethane insulation materials. Natural gas and coal were selected as fuels. Ardahan in the coldest climate region and Aydin in the hottest climate region, for the coal and optimum thickness of expanded polystyrene and polyurethane insulation materials, the reduction of COsub>2sub> and sOsub>2sub> emissions. In the study, the relations between annual energy cost saving and insulation thickness are given. The value of energy cost saving increases up to optimum insulation thickness and beyond this level, the energy cost saving is decreased. For coal and optimum thickness of expanded polystyrene and polyurethane insulation materials, the energy cost savings was higher for the cold climate regions when it was compared with the hot climate regions.

This paper presents a study of hydromagnetic Couette flow of an incompress- ible and electrically conducting fluid between two parallel rotating plates, one of which is oscillating in its own plane. A uniform transverse magnetic field is used, and the induced magnetic field is taken into account. The exact solution to the governing equations is obtained in a closed form. The solution to the problem in the case of vanishing and small finite magnetic Prandtl numbers is also derived from the general solution. The asymp- totic behavior of the solution for large values of the frequency parameter is analyzed to gain some physical insights into the flow pattern. Expressions for the shear stress at both the oscillatory and stationary plates due to primary and secondary flows and mass flow rate in the primary and secondary flow directions are also obtained. The results of the fluid velocity and the induced magnetic field are presented. The shear stresses on the plates due to the primary and secondary flows and the corresponding mass flow rates are presented in a tabular form.

BACKGROUND Idiopathic omental infarction(IOI)is challenging to diagnose due to its low incidence and vague *** differential diagnosis also poses difficulties because it can mimic many intra-abdominal organ *** hypercoagulability and thrombosis are among the causes of omental infarction,venous thromboembolism scanning is rarely performed as an etiological *** sUMMARY The medical records of the 5 cases,who had the diagnosis of IOI by computed tomography,were *** majority of the patients were male(n=4,80%)and the mean age was 31 years(range:21-38).The patients had no previous abdominal surgery or a history of any chronic *** main complaint of all patients was persistent abdominal *** infarction was detected in all patients with contrast-enhanced computed *** treatment was initially preferred in all patients,but it failed in 1 patient(20%).After discharge,all patients were referred to the hematology department for thrombophilia *** 1 patient applied for thrombophilia screening and was homozygous for methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase(A1298C mutation)and heterozygous for a factor V Leiden *** IOI should be considered in the differential diagnosis in patients presenting with progressive and/or persistent right side abdominal *** risk factors such as hypercoagulability in patients with IOI is also important in preventing future conditions related to venous thromboembolism.

The preparation for an experimental soft x-ray tomography study on the Heliotron J (H-J) machine is carried out,with the objectives of evaluating the capability of the current soft x-ray tomographic system in terms of the identification of different mode structures and their poloidal rotation,and the axis shift with different plasma and machine parameters,and fixing the physics goals for the experimental *** preparations were carried out via a simulated soft x-ray data set arising from different plasma conditions,such as magnetic islands,low beta and high *** x-ray tomography (sXT) is performed by the discrete pixel method including singular value decomposition and Phillips-Tikhonov regularization,to obtain clear and smooth *** H-J soft x-ray tomography results from simulated soft x-rays for the equilibrium H-J plasma sensed the magnetic axis shift clearly and an estimate was also *** reconstruction for mode structure m =1/n =1 was obtained along with the realization of the poloidal rotation of the *** reconstruction for the m =2/n =1 mode was not very clear for the current soft x-ray diagnostic *** mode identification was not possible due to the lack of *** sXT from the current soft x-ray diagnostic on H-J,the magnetic axis shift can be estimated and the m =1/n =1 mode can be *** of higher poloidal modes is difficult with the current design.

Additive manufacturing(AM)has revolutionized the design and manufacturing of patient-specific,three-dimensional(3D),complex porous structures known as scaffolds for tissue engineering *** use of advanced image acquisition techniques,image processing,and computer-aided design methods has enabled the precise design and additive manufacturing of anatomically correct and patient-specific implants and ***,these sophisticated techniques can be timeconsuming,labor-intensive,and ***,the necessary imaging and manufacturing equipment may not be readily available when urgent treatment is needed for trauma *** this study,a novel design and AM methods are proposed for the development of modular and customizable scaffold blocks that can be adapted to fit the bone defect area of a *** modular scaffold blocks can be combined to quickly form any patient-specific scaffold directly from two-dimensional(2D)medical images when the surgeon lacks access to a 3D printer or cannot wait for lengthy 3D imaging,modeling,and 3D printing during *** proposed method begins with developing a bone surface-modeling algorithm that reconstructs a model of the patient’s bone from 2D medical image measurements without the need for expensive 3D medical imaging or *** algorithm can generate both patient-specific and average bone ***,a biomimetic continuous path planning method is developed for the additive manufacturing of scaffolds,allowing porous scaffold blocks with the desired biomechanical properties to be manufactured directly from 2D data or *** algorithms are implemented,and the designed scaffold blocks are 3D printed using an extrusion-based AM *** and instructions are also provided to assist surgeons in assembling scaffold blocks for the self-repair of patient-specific large bone defects.

Power system inherently consists of capacitance and inductance in its components. Equipment with saturable inductance and circuit capacitance provides circumstances of generating ferroresonance, resulting in overvoltage and overcurrent in the connected system. The effects of ferroresonance result in insulation failure and hence damage to the equipment is unavoidable. Though many devices are proposed for mitigating such circumstances, a promising technology of using memristors may provide better performance than others in the future. A memristor emulator using the N-channel JFET J310 is used in this work. Unlike other electronic components that replicate memristor properties, the chosen memristor emulator is a passive device since it does not need any external power supply. simulation and experimental results verify the design of a memristor emulator and the characteristics of an ideal memristor. Experimental results prove that the memristor emulator can suppress the fundamental ferroresonance induced in a prototype single phase transformer. The results of the harmonic analysis also validate the memristor performance against the conventional technique.

The paper employs the principles of graph theory in nanobiophotonics, where the soot-assisted intra-pigmental energy transport in leaves is unveiled through the laser-induced thermal lens(TL) technique. Nanofluids with different soot concentrations are sprayed over Lablab purpureus(L) sweet leaves, and the extracted pigments are analyzed. The graph features of the constructed complex network from the TL signal of the samples are analyzed to understand their variations with optical absorbance. Besides revealing the presence of optimum soot concentration that can enhance photosynthesis,the study brings out the potential application of graph features in nanobiophotonics.

We examine the reflection and transmission phenomena of quasi-longitudinal plane(QP)waves in an AlN-ZnO laminated composite *** structure is designed under the influence of the initial stresses in which one carrier piezoelectric semiconductor(PsC)half-space is in welded contact with another PsC *** secular equations in the transversely isotropic PsC material are derived from the general dynamic equation,taking the initial stresses into *** is shown that the incident quasi-longitudinal wave(QP-mode)at the interface generates four types of reflected and transmitted waves,namely,QP wave,quasi-transverse(QsV)wave,electric-acoustic(EA)wave,and carrier plane(CP)*** algebraic equations are obtained by imposing the boundary conditions on the common interface of the laminated *** and transmission coefficients of waves are obtained by implementing Cramer’s *** impacts of the initial stresses and exterior electric biasing field on the reflection and transmission coefficients of waves are investigated and presented graphically.

This paper presents a theoretical method to calculate the minimum inerting concentration(MIC)of binary and ternary blends(refrigerants)that are used in small refrigeration *** is the concentration of the dilutant which makes the flammable mixture into just non-flammable(at non-zero quenching potential).In this study,the refrigerant safety parameters such as flammability,Global Warming Potential(GWP)and performance(COP)are analyzed for twelve binary and thirteen ternary blends containing one flammable and two nonflammable(dilutant)*** investigation was carried out with the hydrocarbon refrigerants R290,R600,R600a each mixed with dilutants R227ea,R125,R245fa,R13I1 and R134a at different concentrations *** methods,thermal balance method(TBM)and modified thermal balanced method(MTBM),are used to estimate the MIC(which decides the flammable zone).Thirteen ternary blends were identified based on the MIC values estimated using *** the case of ternary blends,it was observed that the non-flammable zone is high for the compositions of the Mixture G,Mixture H and Mixture *** was also estimated that the COPs of the proposed mixtures M22,M24,M25 and M27 are 4%greater than the COP of R134a(for the same operating conditions).Further,it was also understood that the corresponding GWP value is reduced by 90%to 97%for the mixtures(M21,M22,M24,M25 and M27)when compared to R134a(GWP=1300).Therefore,out of the thirteen proposed ternary mixtures(M15 to M27),the mixtures(M21,M22,M24,M25 and M27)are safe in terms of flammability,GWP and possess reasonable COP which can be a potential alternative refrigerant mixture to R134a in small refrigeration systems.
