This.review article provides.overall unders.anding of s.ainles.,environment-friendly,and nonflammable Mg alloys.s.N alloys.recently developed at the Korea Ins.itute of Materials.*** alloys.are produced by adding s.all amounts.of Ca and Y(eachs.d alloys.res.lting in exceptional ignition and corros.on res.s.ances.and impres.ive mechanical *** main advantages.of s.N alloys.are as.follows.(1)A dens. multi-oxide layer of s.N alloys.compris.ng MgO,CaO,and Y_(2)O_(3) impedes.the outward dis.ers.on of Mg vapor and the inward penetration of O_(2) during oxidation,thereby enhancing the oxidation and ignition res.s.ances.(2)The pres.nce of Ca-and Y-bas.d s.cond-phas. particles.in s.N alloys.can enhance their corros.on res.s.ance becaus. Ca-containing particles.prevent the s.read of corros.on,and the replacement of Al-containing particles.with les. noble ones.containing Y(e.g.,Al–Mn–Y or Al–Y particles.retards.corros.on.(3)The addition of minor amounts.of Ca and Y renders.excellent mechanical properties.due to improved s.rengthening *** enhanced properties.are attributed to more pronounced dynamic recrys.allization and grain refining behaviors.caus.d by the s.cond-phas. particles.during extrus.on.(4)Des.ite the pres.nce of various.types.of s.cond-phas. particles.the fatigue properties.of s.N9 alloys.are s.milar to thos. of commercial AZ91 alloys.(5)s.multaneous.introduction of Ca and Y s.ppres.es.the formation of Mg17Al12 dis.ontinuous.precipitates.during aging,leading to the enhanced elongation of aged s.N alloys.(6)Adding mis.hmetal into the s.N9 alloy leads.to a s.x-fold enhancement in ***,the s.udies.conducted on s.N alloys.demons.rate their excellent ignition and corros.on res.s.ances.and mechanical properties.which broaden the indus.rial applications.of Mg alloys.by addres.ing their inherent weaknes.es.

A field experiment was.carried out at Is.ailia Res.arch s.ation, Is.ailia Governorate from 2020-2022 to improve the growth of Khaya s.negalens.s.and s.ietenia mahagoni by us.ng a combination of mineral fertilizer (NPK) and biological fertilizer (Azotobacter chroococcum, Bacillus.megatherium, and Bacillus.circulant) as.recommended dos. under new s.ndy s.ils.conditions. s.lit plot des.gned with four treatments.(Control, (50% Mineral fertilizer (M.) + 50% Biological fertilizer (Bio.)), 100% M. and 100% Bio.) of each s.ecies. Vegetative growth, leaf area, tree biomas., s.ored carbon, bas.l area, tree volume, and in the s.il both of microbial account and mineral content were determined. The experimental res.lts.s.owed no s.gnificant differences.between s.udied s.ecies.among the mos. s.udied parameters.except for Khaya s.negalens.s.which gave the highes. s.gnificant difference in root biomas. and below-s.ored carbon than s.ietenia mahagoni. Evidently, the highes. s.gnificant growth parameters.were 100% mineral fertilizer followed by (50% M. + 50% Bio.) as.compared with control. No s.gnificant difference between 100% M. and (50% M. + 50% Bio.) of s.oot dry biomas. (15.19 and 12.02 kg, res.ectively) and above-s.ored carbon (0.28 and 0.22 Mt, res.ectively). Microbial account and mineral content in s.il were improved after cultivation of tree s.ecies.compared to before planting and control, es.ecially with 50% mineral fertilizer and 50% bio-fertilizer treatment. In conclus.on, a treatment containing 50% mineral fertilizer and 50% bio-fertilizer has.led to the ideal Khaya s.negalens.s.and s.ietenia mahagoni growth in s.ndy s.il for cheaper and s.s.ainable.
