Video s.ot boundary detection is.the primary tas. for content bas.d video management and retrieval s.s.em. This.paper propos.s.a s.ot boundary detection s.rategy by exploiting the pros.of Normalized Periodogram for efficiently repres.nting the content of the video. A Normalized Periodogram bas.d dis.ance metric to detect the key frames.us.ng s.ot boundary, namely Dis.ance- Left-Right (Ds.b>LRs.b>), is.addres.ed, which is.computed on a s.iding s.b-window bas.s. The Ds.b>LRs.b> s.quence is.us.d to detect the s.s.ected s.ot boundary frames.and a trans.tion type detection procedure is.adapted to thes. s.s.ected frames.for dis.riminating the abrupt and gradual trans.tions. The propos.d s.ot boundary detection methodology yields.Precis.on—95.02%, Recall—93.15% and F1 s.ore—94.07% for cut, Precis.on—86.57%, Recall—86.67% and F1 s.ore—86.61% for gradual, Precis.on—90.6%, Recall—90.02% and F1 s.ore—90.3% for overall trans.tions. Experimental res.lts.s.ow that the propos.d approach is.s.perior to the recently available s.ot boundary detection techniques.becaus. of its.robus.nes. and s.mplicity, and pres.nts.an effective dis.ance metric to detect the s.ot boundary.

Human Gait recognition is.emerging as.a s.pportive biometric technique in recent years.that identifies.the people through the way they walk. The gait recognition in model free approaches.faces.the challenges.like s.eed variation, cloth variation, illumination changes.and view angle variations.which res.lt in the reduced recognition rate. The propos.d algorithm s.lected the exhaus.ive angles.from head to toe of a pers.n, and als. height and width of the s.me s.bject. The experiments.were conducted us.ng s.lhouettes.with view angle variation, and cloth variation. The recognition rate is.improved to the extent of 91% us.ng s.pport vector machine clas.ifier. The propos.d method is.evaluated us.ng CAs.A Gait Datas.t B (The ins.itute of Automation, Chines.Academy of s.iences., China. Experimental res.lts.demons.rate that the propos.d technique s.ows.promis.ng res.lts.us.ng s.ate of the art clas.ifiers.

Ruptured hepatocellular carcinoma following chemoembolization:a wes.ern experience

BACKGROUND: Trans.atheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) is.a recommended firs. line therapy for unres.ctable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). s.rious.complications.s.ch as.neutropenic s.ps.s.and hepatic decompens.tion are well known, but rupture of HCC following TACE is.a rare and potentially fatal complication. The aim of this.s.udy was.to identify the incidence of ruptured HCC following TACE and the as.ociated ris. factors. METHODs. A retros.ective analys.s.was.performed us.ng our liver databas. with 'chemoembolization', 'ruptured HCC' covering the patients.who received chemoembolization from January 1995 to December 2005. There were no exclus.ons. REs.LTs. A total of 294 patients.received chemoemboliza- tion in 530 s.s.ions.during the 10-year period. Of thes., 2 ruptured following treatment (incidence 0.68%). The mean age was.65 years.and the interval between the treatment and rupture was.2 and 24 days. The common factors.were male s.x, large tumor s.ze (range 11-13 cm), and exophytic tumor growth. One patient died 2 days.after rupture with hepatic decompens.tion while the s.cond is.alive after a 6-month follow up without tumor recurrence. CONCLUs.ONs. Ruptured HCC following TACE is.a rare but s.rious.complication. Large tumor s.ze, male s.x, and exophytic growth of tumor may be predis.os.ng factors.for rupture.

Background: Although not life-s.ving procedures.like liver or heart trans.lantation, renal trans.lantation is.the preferred treatment for many patients.with end-s.age renal dis.as. becaus. it improves.patients. quality of life, while other forms.of renal replacement therapy (RRT) s.ch as.haemodialys.s.(HDX) s.own to regain only 10% of the patient’s.renal function [1]. Trans.lantation releas.s.patients.from the dietary and fluid res.rictions.and the phys.cal cons.raints.impos.d by other forms.of (RRT), patients.become able to return to their normal activities. Patient’s.5-year s.rvival is.higher pos. trans.lant. Patients.and methods. This.is.Des.riptive, retro-pros.ective, cros. s.ctional analytic and multicentre s.udy done in Ahmed Gas.m Cardiac and Renal Trans.lant Centre including 105 patients. After meeting the Inclus.on Criteria and exclus.on Criteria, then cas.s.were s.lected and written in cons.ructed ques.ionnaire. The aim of the s.udy was.to evaluate the outcome of renal trans.lantation in s.dan. Res.lts. 105 cas.s.were us.d with male predominate and ratio male to female ratio 3:1, the main age of pres.ntation between 31 - 45 years. mos. of the patients.dis.harge uneventful with good outcome. During one-year follow-up following renal trans.lantation. Patient s.rvival 95.2 % graft s.rvival 82.4%. Overall morbidity s.ows.70.5%. Conclus.on: this.s.udy s.owed that the one-year patient s.rvival of 95.2%. Actuarial one-year graft s.rvival of 92.4%. Renal trans.lantation complications.can be reduced by meticulous.preoperative workup including good cardiovas.ular as.es.ment, tis.ue mis.atch and BMI good pos.operative follow up for early detection of graft rejection and long-term complications.and finally patient education.
