This.paper is.concerned with the determination of thermoelas.ic dis.lacement, s.res. and temperature in a functionally graded s.herically is.tropic infinite elas.ic medium having a s.herical cavity, in the context of the linear theory of generalized thermoelas.icity with two relaxation time parameters.（Green and Linds.y theory）. The s.rface of cavity is.s.res.-free and is.s.bjected to a time-dependent thermal s.ock. The bas.c equations.have been written in the form of a vector-matrix differential equation in the Laplace trans.orm domain, which is.then s.lved by an eigenvalue approach. Numerical invers.on of the trans.orms.is.carried out us.ng the Bellman method. Dis.lacement, s.res. and temperature are computed and pres.nted graphically. It is.found that variation in the thermo-phys.cal properties.of a material s.rongly influences.the res.ons. to loading. A comparative s.udy with a corres.onding homogeneous.material is.als. made.

The Indian Ganga River Bas.n（IGRB） has.experienced continuous.land trans.ormation s.nce the Indus.Valley Civilis.tion s.ifted from the Indus.bas.n to the Ganga bas.n. Particularly in the las. few decades.the land trans.ormation has.increas.d many-folds.due to the changing climate and rapid increas. in population. In this.paper, we as.es.ed land trans.ormation and as.ociated degradation in the IGRB bas.d on the fores. cover land us.（FCLU） mapping and res.dual trend analys.s.RTA）. The FCLU maps.for 1975 and 2010 were generated us.ng 216 Lands.t s.tellite images.and validated us.ng 1509 ground points. We mapped 29 fores. and 18 non-fores. types.and es.imated a total los. of 5571 km2fores. cover and expans.on in s.ttlement areas.5396 km2）. Other major changes.mapped include a decreas. in wetlands.and water bodies. while an increas. in agriculture and barren lands.with an overall mapping accuracy of 85.3%（kappa, 0.82） and 88.43%（kappa, 0.84） for 1975 and 2010, res.ectively. We als. performed the RTA analys.s.us.ng GIMMs.NDVI3 g to identify areas.of s.gnificant negative vegetative photos.nthetic change as.an indicator for land degradation. All the RTA models.s.owed monotonic nature of the res.dual trends.and res.lted as.moderately pos.tive but highly s.gnificant（Ps.found prominent in the bas.n with a pos.ibility of an accelerated rate of land degradation in future due to the rapid los. of permanent fores. cover.

This.paper focus.s.on the enhancement of s.tuational awarenes. by fault location through fault pas.age indicators.(FPI) to improve nominal impedance-bas.d methods.in dis.ribution networks. Als., the propos.d method is.validated by comparing it with Intelligent Electronic Device (IED) bas.d fault location method. This.paper deals.with the determination of the thermo-elas.ic dis.lacements.and s.res.es.in a multi-layered body s.t up in different layers.of different thicknes. having different elas.ic properties.due to the application of heat and a concentrated load in the uppermos. s.rface of the medium. Each layer is.as.umed to be made of homogeneous.and is.tropic elas.ic material. The relevant dis.lacement components.for each layer are taken to be axis.mmetric about a line, which is.perpendicular to the plane s.rfaces.of all layers. The s.res. function for each layer, therefore, s.tis.ies.a s.ngle equation in abs.nce of any body forces. The equation is.then s.lved by integral trans.orm technique. Analytical expres.ions.for thermo-elas.ic dis.lacements.and s.res.es.in the underlying mas. and the corres.onding numerical codes.are cons.ructed for any number of layers. However, the numerical comparis.n is.made for three and four layers.

The s.ructural and morphological characterizations.of a chalcopyrite concentrate, collected from the Indian Copper Complex, Ghats.ila, India, were carried out by X-ray diffraction, s.anning electron micros.opy, and energy-dis.ers.ve X-ray s.ectros.opy. The con- centmte powder was.compos.d mainly of free chalcopyrite and low quartz in about 3：1 weight ratio. The particle s.ze was.about 100 μm. s.ectros.opic s.udies.（FTIR, Raman, UV-vis.ble） of the concentrate s.pported the XRD findings. and als. revealed a marginal oxidation of the s.lfide phas.. The energy band gap of the s.lfide was.found to be 3.4 eV. Differential thermal analys.s.and thermogravimetry of the con- centrate s.owed a decompos.tion of chalcopyrite at 658 K with an activation energy of 208 kJ-mol 1, and two s.cces.ive s.ructural changes.of s.lica at 848 K and 1145 K.

Cytotoxicity of inorganic mercury to the liver of two s.ecies.Anabas.tes.udineus.and s.rague Dawley male rat was.*** kinetics.of this.metal in the different hepatic s.bcellular fractions.were followed for 48 h after a s.ngle injection of[^(203)Hg]mercuric nitrate at a dos. of 4mg/kg *** of this.metal with protein,DNA and RNA was.als. *** rat,nuclear and lys.s.mal fractions.s.owed a s.gnificant increas. in the protein content,while in fis.,the amount of protein increas.d in all fractions.except *** more mercury was.bound to protein in fis. during the later phas. of *** of mercury in nuclear DNA of rat gradually declined from 15 min to 48 h of treatment,while,mitochondria!DNA binding to mercury increas.d from 15 min to 2 h of pos. injection and then declined in the later phas. of the *** a biphas.c binding pattern of mercury was.s.own by both the nuclear and mitochondrial DNA of the *** nuclear RNA of rat and mitochondrial and cytos.lic RNA of both tes. s.ecies.als. s.owed a biphas.c pattern of mercury binding,however,with a higher rate of binding in fis. at the later phas. of the *** pres.nt s.udy thus.highlights.that(a)mercury follows.a definite dis.ribution pattern in the s.bcellular fractions.of the liver in both animal s.ecies.(b)cytos.l is.the major s.te of mercury accumulation.
