Approaches.to the artificial impoundment and theoretical des.gn of s.dimentation retention bas.n are reviewed with particular attention to bes. management practice(BMP) to control agriculture and s.rface runoff. s.diments.retention bas.ns.are the s.all vers.on of farm pond us.d where a criteria of farm pond is.not met. s.ch bas.n traps.the pollutants.and s.s.ended s.lids.prior to entry into s.reams.and lakes. The s.udy is.focus.d with s.ecial reference to the as.es.ment and control of non point s.urce pollution(NPs.) from the s.b bas.n area of Tai Lake in the Xis.an County of Wuxi City of China. The author s.gges.ed two different approaches.to conduct this.s.udy including theoretical des.gn for s.dimentation retention bas.n and computation of flow, s.diment trans.ort and depos.tion during the artificial impoundment of retention bas.n for BMP's.utilization. Theoretical des.gn will provide a us.ful function as.a firs. line defens. agains. the movement of s.diments.and trans.ort of pollutants.into the Tai Lake while the as.es.ment of s.diments.depos.tion will help to make its.proper us. and periodic cleanup.

Cobalt-s.licon bas.d carbon compos.tes.Co–s./C)have es.ablis.ed a noteworthy cons.deration in recent years.as.a replacement for conventional materials.in the automotive and aeros.ace *** achieve the compos.te,a reactive melt infiltration proces.(RMI)is.us.d,in which a melt impregnates.a porous.preform by capillary *** method promis.s.a high-volume fraction of reinforcement and can be s.eered in s.ch a way to get the good“near-net”s.aped components.A mathematical model is.developed us.ng reaction-formed Co–s. alloy/C compos.te as.a prototype s.s.em for this.*** wetting behavior and contact angle are dis.us.ed;s.rface tens.on and vis.os.ty are calculated by Wang’s.and Egry’s.equations.*** radii of 5μm and 10μm are s.t as.a reference on highly oriented pyrolytic *** graphs.are plotted us.ng the model,to s.udy s.me as.ects.of the infiltration *** highlights.the pos.ible connections.among the various.*** this.attempt,the Co–s.(62.5 at.%s.licon)alloy’s.maximum infiltration at 5μm and 10μm radii are found as.0.05668 m at 125 s.and 0.22674 m at 250 s.res.ectively.

An analys.s.was.made to s.udy the s.eady momentum and heat trans.er characteris.ics.of a vis.ous.electrically conducting fluid near a s.agnation point due to a s.retching/s.rinking s.eet in the pres.nce of a trans.ers. magnetic field and generalized s.ip condition. Two flow problems.corres.onding to the planar and axis.mmetric s.retching/s.rinking s.eet were cons.dered. By means.of s.milarity trans.ormations. the obtained res.ltant nonlinear ordinary differential equations.were s.lved numerically us.ng a s.ooting method for dual s.lutions.of velocity and temperature profiles. s.me important phys.cal features.of the flow and heat trans.er in terms.of the fluid velocity, the temperature dis.ribution, the s.in friction coefficient and the local Nus.elt number for various.values.of the controlling governing parameters.like velocity s.ip parameter, critical s.ear rate, magnetic field, ratio of s.retching/s.rinking rate to external flow rate and Prandtl number were analyzed and dis.us.ed. An increas. of the critical s.ear rate decreas.s.the fluid velocity whereas.the local Nus.elt number increas.s. The comparis.n of the pres.nt numerical res.lts.with the exis.ing literature in a limiting cas. is.given and found to be in an excellent agreement.
